I agree! But, just FYI, liquitex brand of clear gesso has a tooth to it. I use that for pastels, and Art Basics clear for anything else, because there’s NO texture to it at all❤😊 BUT, I think the use of Matte Medium was intended to look like a canvas /painting, so … 😊❤😊

I recently fell in love with the liquitex matte medium too! The matte mod podge isn’t actually matte, it’s still a bit shiny but this works great!
Yes I’ve just tested it against mod podge. It ok but I still love the Liquitex gel Matt medium ❤️❤️❤️
Clear gesso also works to bring down the shine. If you find your gesso is a bit thin, add baby powder to thicken it a bit or cornstarch. ❤❤❤
