Hard question! Not sure why it's important, but I think that kind people are happier, like you said.
I did see a TED talk (will watch your vid in a sec, just saw it's up) about what makes certain people happy and the 2 criteria were - growth and contribution beyond oneself. Those are the key factors.
+Shavinism That's so true! The happiness consultant we had at work mentioned growth, getting into the flow of something, as well.as helping others.
It makes sense to me. We're communal and intelligent creatures... we give and we learn, and these things make us happy and satisfied.
It certainly works for me!
