Viego might not have been an entirely good person, he had his problems. But he wasn’t evil. And perhaps, Isolde could have helped him change for the better.
But then she died and he couldn’t let go. And a tragedy became a nightmare.

I agree! Isolde did helped him a lot but he just completely has gone out of control ever since she died.. Poor guy barely felt love in his life and he only got it from his wife.
