Marvin Gaye was everything. Every bit as big a loss to music as Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, Lennon.....any of them. A true giant.
Have you ever checked out Al Green? Super smooth soul. Look him up, you'll like I think.

Brotha Jay us old heads (I'm 52 going on 53) just want to let the future generations know about being romantic even if they don't see it these days. Young bro go with your spirit and the truth will be known to you. Do your thang! We are watchin'. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 Maybe instead of asking "Whatchu know about that" we should be askin' " You like that young blood?" Peace and love my brotha. We invented music.

“What’s Going On” - Still in my major rotation and the #1 Album of Rolling Stone’s Top 500 Albums!! Start to finish, it’s a total concept, a party with a conscience. And each track is related by groove. And the spoken word samples bring the conversation to your living room. Genius soul food. Lol 🤪

Oh damn, my fav MG song, too. Man oh man, the rehearsal version with Marvin on the sofa, oohwee - stripped back, intimate, and raw...gets me right there. Wish there was a higher res version. Gordon Banks on guitar, Doni Hagan on drums, but seeing a baby-faced Deon Estus on bass is just the icing on the cake.

Any and every time I hear Marvin, I think about Saturday mornings and my Mom singing and dancing while she cleaned the house. Same records every Saturday, same sequence. She’s a huge Diana Ross fan & when the ‘My Mistake’ duet with Marvin came on, it was on. Moms singing Ms. Ross’ part and battling Marvin always made me smile. When the SOS Band and ‘Take Your Time’ came on, shit........everybody was dancing
