I have been using HM7000 for some months and have a eight or nine loco's fitted with 8 and 21pin sound decoders. It all works very well on both Bluetooth and DCC - I do use an Apple iPhone and a Hornby Elite - no problem.

Yes from what I have gathered most of the main issues do seem to be Android rooted!😀

Well just came back to the hobby after 60years tt120 came at the right time for me, hm7000 brilliant did have a problem at the beginning hornby sorted for me, now I understand how it works much happier started with the eastender layout added a 08 had it modded by dear Mr Bayliss and Samantha sound outstanding love the sound of the diesel running up and shouting down, now have my eye on the piko ice there is a young man who can mod these for hm7000 the only thing that has miffed me is the old style rolling stock should update them for container traffic, I have a 66 on order so I will need this rolling stock not 5 or7 plank trucks Well that's me miffed out ☺☺☺

Did one last night for the first time. Straight forward if you read all the instructions and follow the on screen prompts. People moaned about TTS chips but I never had a problem with one of the 15 I have.

It wasn't that simple, certainly in the early days. Even reading and following the instructions to the letter, the sound profile wouldn't always load. When it loaded, it wouldn't always work. It was luck. The product was released with problems. The Next 18 stated that it was compliant and it wasn't, It was too big and wouldn't fit into 00 gage locomotives. Advertising Standards made Hornby sort it out. Hornby admitted they were at fault. I recently bought one already fitted into a loco and used it as a standard DCC decoder and it was perfect. This is how I prefer to use them but it is handy to quickly swap decoders over to other locomotives. I have used them in several now, including Bachman. The app was the problem and of course Hornby advertising the Android version from day one on the box but it wasn't available for months. So many own goals. Edit: I forgot, they initially said use DC controllers on full power, then when people blew their decoders, Hornby changed their mind. This should have been identified in testing.

I recently fitted a Bachmann Deltic with an HM7000, and the sound is lovely. The only problem I had was not enough space for a big speaker enclosure. I wanted t fit it in the fuel tanks, but it seemed really tricky to get the whole metal motor chassis out of the way to do that, so I gave in and installed a smallish enclosure with the little HM7000 speaker under the fan. It did work exactly as advertised, so I was quite pleased with the result. The Deltic was a great deal as it had a detached buffer which was easily fixed - so a partial cure for Accurascale envy (and I have one on order for the 2024 tranche).

Great video! I have a DC Micro layout and purchased both a 21pin and 8pin decoder, both are fantastic, has enhanced the layout with the excellent control, stay alive and sounds.. And no need to purchase a DCC controller.. This is a great way to take the the step from DC to DCC sound with minimal outlay!!

it's a huge problem isn't it though ?? ,,,, hornby needs to encourage new customers to the hobby with products that are easy to use for raw begginers and it is unfit for purpose can you imagine the first time buyer with no model railway knowledge trying to sort out this poorly thought out shit ,, no matter how good it is after months of struggling it isn't hornbys market hornby should have just improved its TTS system and kept a simple to use system for raw begginers and left the technical stuff to those whose market it is

I admit that for the absolute beginner it would be very daunting confusing and frustrating, as I said, Still some kinks to iron out!

I’ve got 11 of the hm7000 decoders fitted I’ve found best to set the up on the app then run them on Dcc not had a problem with them running, hopefully a few updates would fix the blutooth lost connection in blutooth mode,I was looking at more Esu decoders now they have released more English loco profiles for free but harder to find blank decoders at a cheaper price.

    • @IronHorseRailways
      @IronHorseRailways  ปีที่แล้ว

Blank decoders are at least £90 and then you need to either have a programmer or find a place willing to equip it for free! I love ESU but, damn pricey!
And yes I've found that setting it up on Bluetooth first then setting it to DCC is best

I think I will stick with my DC layout so much easier. When people talk about DCC they might as well be talking in Chinese.

HM 7000 I'm still unsure . The idea is great but ( you knew a but was coming) I think hornby need to sort out some issues . Then I might be tempted as I have a few locks that I would like to have sound in them . Like my lima hst . Esu lok sound which are great are just a little expensive. And for a hst I would need 2 . So HM 7000 would be better money wise .
However the new layout in my new shed 20 x 8 comes 1st . And it all comes down to money honey. Like wood for base boards and screws n $#!t. All fun and games . So HM 7000 you just keep us posted and I might get some. Thanks 🤔

Give one a try but just be thorough with the instructions first!

They have just released a whole batch v2.0 updates for various loco profiles which are getting good feedback on the Hornsby forum. For my own single example it certainly offers more consistency, less cuts out (not yet none but markedly less) and smoother low speed control. Worth a shot I’d say.

    Hi Craig.
You really must stop gossiping about Hornby. I'm sure a lot of their shortcomings are down to your misunderstanding of their products. On more than one occasion in the past you've said to me just send whatever the problem is back to Hornby and they will replace it... SIMPLES! So come on now matey, get a grip ✊️.
    Paul. 👍❤
