May be a dumb question but I was just given a spindle with no hook on either end. How do I know if it’s a bottom whirl or not? I’m trying to find a video to learn how to use it, but no idea what I have. Thanks
I have the same question. Mine is shaped like a big pencil, with the whirl positioned near the writing tip. Maybe mine is a supported spindle with a bottom whirl, or the tip is used like the hook and that could make it a top whirl. I just don't know.
Hey sorry just seeing this. if want to send me a picture of your spindle to erin@craftyhousewifeyarns.com I'll have the staff check it out and we'll get back to you!

I only use a bottom whorl as I can't make the top whole work for me. I also have a castle wheel because I spin left handed.
This was actually perfect! Thank you! Also, we could totally be sisters! 👯♀️ We are so similar in appearance!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. That’s nuts. I hardly ever run into anyone that looks like me. (Us) ❤️
Thank you Erin ❤
You are so welcome!

I’m 83 and just learning. I thought a bottom whirl might be better for me.
I have a Facebook group we'd love to see what you're working on.
