chooseymomschoose No, the point is that these “sport” SUVs pretend to be sports cars, but ultimately don’t quite land there with their extremely high curb weights and centers of gravity. You know what makes sense? A BMW X5 M, which performs identically to the X6 M, but doesn’t pretend to be a sports car by sacrificing interior space.
In any case, neither the X4 M or X6 M handle anywhere near like an M3. You’re getting excellent performance... for a heavy SUV. It’s not an M3 competitor, and it never will be just by the laws of physics.
In the same vein, a Porsche Macan/Cayenne are not (and never were) intended to replace or be substitutes for Porsche’s actual sports coupes. They are sporty SUVs, not replacements for actual sports cars with lower centers of gravity.
To argue that this heavy SUV compares to an M3 at all is laughable. They definitely do not.
No they didn’t. The car goes from 0-60 in 5 seconds, and is very agile. Comparing it to a Porsche Cayenne is a bad comparison because the design philosophy and driving experience that BMW and Porsche seek to give are very different. Porsche want you to feel like you’re driving a race car. BMW want to give you a spirited experience with a nimble car, but one where the car won’t get away from an inexpert driver. The reviewer simply wants a very particular sports car experience, and the X6 wasn’t designed for that...and the person driving it isn’t asking that from it.
Why this exist? People want an ugly look SUV pretend to be a sport car and less practical than a X5 with more $$.
I actually like it, but I do think that it should be cheaper. I don't understand why "coupes" always cost more.

That's exactly it man, SUV's are in so car manu are going to try and make all SUV's look like Sedan, Coupes, Sports cars, etc...This thing is HIDEOUS, it looks like someone backed into the rear qtr panels and front fenders...I hate all of these 'coupe 4-door suv's'

Interesting vehicle, but I've never liked the styling of any of the X6s. Not that I could afford one.
Yea I’m not a big fan of coupe SUV’s in general. The Velar and Q8/Urus are the only ones that can pull off the look.

@@amanwithaplan4103 yep it's because they design a whole new exterior rather than just sloping the roof line at the B pillar like the X6 or GLE coupe do which just looks ugly IMO.

Magnificent hot v8 engine, front-running tech, premium finishes all shoved into a goofy looking bloated hatchback on stilts.

I honestly believe the last X6 looks amazing compared to this one. And the X5 looks waaaayyyyy better than the X6 of this generation. The back design of this 2020 X6 just kills the whole car for me. The wheels are cool and the front is cool as well. But those super thin LED’s in the back just look awful with the fake exhausts. I know it’s only the m50i but darn. They need to go back to the design board for this one :(

Why is it a shame ? Their V8 sounds glorious, it's powerful and I think it would be really cool if they could fit it in a lightweight car

I own the previous gen X6, and I don't get why coupe SUVs get so much hate. Coupe for me, SUV for the the wife, and great in the winter. Perfect compromise especially as I live in the city and only have one parking spot.

I agree with Yuri. I have a 2018 X6 M and I like the look much better than the new one. The new front looks too tame and the older looks meaner. Gotta say the new back design is really nice tho. Should’ve combined the two
It's a Toyota Camry TRD. There's no need to tease us. I'm still going to stay tune every Tuesdays and Fridays for my regular routine of breakfast and Straight Pipes.

The rear end is awful- well actually the whole thing is ugly, but especially the rear. Those tail lights my god..

I wish someone does a detailed comparison between the X5 vs GLE and other cars (detailed and covering seat comfort, seat massage, inside noise, handling, tech, ease of use, visibility, ....etc.) that would be very unique and informative
I love the X6. I drove a 2013 550GT for a few years, and that was heavy and wasn't M-sport, so it only had 400 horses. Same 4.4 liter engine just not souped up. So fun to drive. The practicality was off the charts. Took two kids to college in that car. Very polarizing looks, but like some people don't want minivans, many people don't want SUVs proper.

I am one of those weirdos that don't need to hear my exhaust. I want to feel the sportiness in the acceleration and cornering, having my head pushed back against my seat, but faked/pumped sound? No thank you.

I’m in that category that made the X6 a success. I don’t find it weird, and neither does Mercedes, Audi, Lamborghini, VW, & Porsche, because they all copied this design.
I actually think they look good but I just can't get my head around why you would buy a suv and then want the headroom in the back reduced.

Amazing how many reviewers simply don’t “get” these vehicles. The car isn’t made to serve a function or fit a box. It’s designed for a particular type of person. Someone who **needs** the size and functionality of an SUV, but doesn’t want a vehicle that looks and drives like a truck. It is a true crossover. If you want maximum SUV utility? Get the X5. If you want a pure sports car experience? Get a 4/5/6 series or a Z4. This car is for someone who wants some of both without having to buy two different vehicles.

I can settle the argument about who this car is for. If you’re a dad who needs more space than a car, a tow hitch for a bike rack, performance, and not another car then this is it.

DanTFC nah i came up with that verdict after driving a couple of benzes and audis, the way they steer alone made me cringe compared to most bmws.

While it’s correct that M Sport is not full M, if you go to configure any BMW it will have the MXXi separates from regular vehicles and placed with the full M.
I don’t have a problem with pumped in engine noise. It’s the best of both worlds for me. But it has to be real engine noise being pumped into the cabin in a way. If it’s fake engine noise I hate it

Imagine an SUV coupe with BMW's comfiness, Porsche's looks & handling, Audi's solid build quality, Merc's technology, and Lambo's engine sound & performance
Proper solution for car + SUV is Subaru Outback, Volvo V90 Cross-Country, and so on. Car with some SUV tendencies, rather than SUV with a weird car shape moulded on top.

For the person who wants a car with a German badge. They wanted a 4 door sports car, yet also wanted a Crossover/SUV; so they chose both in one with the rear headroom of a coupe and less practicality for the groceries and stuff that they’ll never haul in the back.
I don’t get these suv “coupe” things; either get an suv, a 4 door, a coupe or a wagon/estate/SB. Trying to fit 3 or all 4 together just doesn’t really work but hey, people fawn over these for some good reason. Probably the same people who thought the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet was a good thing.
Well said... the slantback “coopay” thing is so lame in practicality and design... give me a good squareback wagon/hatch/suv anyday.

Man these coupe SUV’s are the best thing that happened to the SUV market. It’s different in a world now where everything is basically a clone and looks the same every year, year after year. It’s progression. And stock x6 isn’t the best looking. But with a lip kit and some wheels, it’s almost a baby urus.
