It is widely available in Loktak lake in Manipur, India. It is nutritive and offers numerous health benefits. Popularly called Water Chesnut, Hei-kak in Manipur, Pani Singhara in Bihar and other places of northern India, the plant is grown in ponds, marshes, seasonal or perennial lakes (Loktak lake) etc.

Yes, of course. We also make dishes of the leaves. It's local name is HEIKRAK and YENA is the plant. It is found in the LOKTAK LAKE, in Manipur, a North Eastern state of India.

This is called in botany as TRAPA NATANS L.in the Family Lythraceae, Subfamily Trapoideae. In Cambodian language, it is called KROR-CHAP SNAENG BUON. It is rare that Polin had shown us this kind of plant. Normally, in Cambodian market, people sells another fruits of TRAPA BICORNIS, in Khmer it is called KROR-CHAP SNAENG PI. Thank you so much Polin for your video. I want to know where you found this plant?
