+DonCorleone87 Exactly. From his powerful walk towards the mound to him standing confidently on the mound to the perfect first strike. Epic moment, still brings chills.
bearone7777 at the time he was 55. Bush and Sylvester Stallone were both born the same day -- July 6, 1946. He was only 6 weeks older than Clinton; August 19, 1946.
They also had a bald eagle that was trained to fly from the upper stands to it's trainer on the field that night. It was an incredible way to start the game.
Also bare in mind this was really soon after 9/11, so it's not only a really inspiring amount of patriotism, but it's also directly after and in opposition of the biggest terrorist attack in history, in the same city it took place in. Imagine seeing him walk out there, unafraid, especially if you'd lost people in the attacks.
Possibly the most meaningful first pitch in history. That pitch represented the mindset Americans would have moving forward, and the fact he nailed it was important to people, whether or not you think it should have. Unbelievably clutch pitch.
jhaz89 you realize this asshole bush was a big fat stupid liar in the face of the American people right? How can you love a president who lied to you straight in the face about multiple issues, and didn't even give a fuck when he was an accomplice if not the head of the undercover job that led to the deaths of over 3,000 American civilians just so we could go into Afghanistan, and lose even more American lives? You make me sick.
Cry everytime I watch this. Bush wasn't the best president but he had a very strong connection with the people of the country. I was proud to be an American when Bush was president.
I don't know if you are an Obama supporter or Republican but at least Bush can name some Rangers when Obama couldn't. Easy video to find. Just search Obama first pitch knows no players
+Blake X Bush was responsible for knowing about Osama throughout the 90s and allowing the USS Cole bombing attacks to happen? Oh what that was Clinton LOL
I was not a fan of him nor of his presidency. But he freaking crushed this moment. Walked to the mound. Thumbs up. Perfect strike. Walked off. Badass...
I am from Canada and I have never even visited the United States but I couldn't help but feel patriotic with the American people while I was watching this.
yes but Canadians don't show the true patriotism like americans. for example homes in the states with flags are numerous yet virtually non existant in canada
Say what you will about his politics, but he always struck me as a good man who genuinely cared about America. I always believed that he believed in what he was saying, which I can't say for all presidents. I'm glad he was president during this time.
+otteaux The Iraq mess, in the final analysis, will forever haunt his legacy.. That can never be changed.. It could be pushed into the background, if the problems weren't still evolving today.. However, I do agree he was sincere in his beliefs, and basically an all around affable person.. I would imagine having a talk with him would be a hoot (I'm from Texas, too).. He led us when we needed leading, but still somewhat left us vulnerable, in the long run.. All around, a complicated fella.. This was an amazing moment, though..
Had the fortunate opportunity to hear him speak to a group of about 750 to 1000 people. It was much different hearing a president be able to talk so intimately about the decisions he made. I think if everyone had an opportunity to hear the presidents they dislike speak to them on a more personal level, a lot of them wouldn't be so hateful of the president, regardless of philosophical differences. I certainly would welcome be opportunity to hear Obama speak and I am not a supporter at all. Gives them a chance to speak more openly without having the media spin it. You are right, he is a really good man with very good intentions. He's also funny as hell.
They used the stage of baseball to rally the american people, as if it's a game because that's exactly what it is. You've been fooled, tricked, bamboozled and suckerd. I mean when buildings fall by themselves and then claim to kill a ghost(bin Ladin ) honorably covertly laid to rest in the see looks sounds and smells like brainwashing and dumbing down to the point common sense doesn't apply behind party line beliefs
Chris Walker you are a real dumbass if you think that it was explosives that brought down those buildings because it takes months of drilling holes in columns and walls plus likely a whole week to load just one building with detonators to detcord and nitro sticks. the shear weight of those planes along with fire and fuel did the job, I know because I have 6800 hours of explosives experience
"I didn't vote for him but at that point, my personal feelings about him as a politician were gone. I watched him and he was my representative... I had never felt that way before." David Fisher articulates that tremendous feeling of patriotism and unity as a country we were experiencing in the days and weeks following 9/11 so perfectly, beautifully. Didn't matter which side of the aisle you were on, we all stood as one together, as Americans together. 15 years on and this still chokes me up.
+Jcurvs99 lets not get carried away here. it was a great and stirring moment but as human nature dictates, it was bound to be short lived. just like when someone we know dies young/suddenly and we vow to appreciate the simple things in life we ordinarily take for granted and then inevitably go back to our daily routines. It's neither good or bad, just the way we're programmed. Compared to most places in the world, we have a pretty good life here in the US, regardless of your economic or social status. we need not concern ourselves with the daily worry of putting food in our bellies or finding clean drinking water. our prosperity allows us to squabble over things like healthcare costs, sports and pop culture and in a certain way, that's actually a privilege most people from many other countries would die for. imagine being a poor villager in Afghanistan and every day you have to worry whether some Taliban animal is going to kill ur children, rape ur wife or appropriate ur home and possessions? complain to that guy about the failings of Obamacare and see how much sympathy you get.
George W. Bush was the last president we were united under. It went away when the media moved on to instigating domestic conflicts again but it was beautiful while it lasted. I hope it doesn't take another disaster to unite us again.
That’s how history works. It always takes a disaster. To unite against an enemy, real or contrived, there will always be a disaster. Whether it’s the USS Maine or Pearl Harbor or the Lusitania or the Tonkin Gulf “incident”, there always must be a problem in order for those in charge to propose their solution
Your so right I hate saying it but all that after 9/11 & the country coming together is now gone. I'm not making it about Trump if you like him fine if not ok. However people who didn't vote for him & are outraged he's President need to move on. Kaepernick his whole issue has damaged the country cause people now kneel during the Anthem.
ELZOOL12 Yes, I have. Watch the rest of this documentary to understand why Jeter is called “Mr. October”. He will forever be thought of as a source of healing post 9/11. He attended countless memorial services and comforted many fans who lost loved ones in the Towers.
Why Bless a crime family and a man known for screwing under-aged children and attending satanic kaballistic rituals despite his low IQ? I wouldn't call that classy and I would certainly not call him Godly. I would call that and his ilk reprobate responsible for multiple deaths and bloodshed both domestic and foreign. It's almost like Americans worship the flag and not the Almighty at times. Politics are not God, and never should be and this leader is far from Godly.
I am *NOT* at all a fan of this man's political views or decisions, but it's videos like this that are great reminders that he is human like the rest of us. And that he can throw a baseball better than Michael Jordan, who, lest we forget, _actually played Major League Baseball..._

Isn't it amazing that just a few years ago this country seemed so united and patriotic. We stood up and saluted the flag and prayed together as a beautiful and grand nation. Now we are fighting each other over the dumbest idiologies, flushing morals down the toilet and demanding history erased. +John Greeneyes The very day that 9/11 happened, there were Americans complaining that New Yorkers shouldn't have died, it was people living in the Red States that should have died. By 9/12 an anti-war movement had crystalized against responding to the attacks. By April of the following year, nearly half of all New York City residents and over half of self described liberals had convinced themselves that the attacks were carried out by Americans. I know about the myth that we are so united and patriotic, but its just a myth. It was as you say something that may have seemed to be, but never was real. If it was ever real, show me the evidence of those feelings actually acted on. What really happened is that those inclined to prayer or saluting flags did so, and those who hated those people remained firm in that hatred. For a moment, a few people might have assumed the hate was going to stop, but that was hope and not based on evidence.
+Matthew Reynolds 1/2 of all NYC residents were convinced the attacks were carried out by Americans?? that might be the most irresponsibly made up statistic I've ever seen used. those of us who live and work here have no doubts about who carried out those attacks and its personally offensive to see you mischaracterize us that way.
You can't beat our way of life, you can't beat our patriotism, you can't beat us. Period. We are Americans, when bush stood on that mound, he was a wall. He was the symbol of our patriotism. No fear, no surrender.
We supported the president after 9/11. I can't remember how long before the Iraq war started or if it was when the war started that it shifted to the majority of people hating him.
Congrats Sheha, you have somehow managed to be more annoying and delusional than the libtards themselves. Getting mad at the president for throwing a stirke? Get a fucking grip.
Bob Judd President Bush is a blessing and beats the hell out of the current asshole-in-chief, obama. Bush was the last real President this country had. At least Bush loves this country and not tearing it down like obama currently is.
Countryboy830 While I don't care too much for Obama, he's about a THOUSAND times the president that BUSH could have ever dreamt of being. All we have to do is rewind history to the day he left office after he bailed out wall street and foolish car companies while bankrupting the entire rest of the nation -- historians don't forget, idiots like YOU do.
MICAIAH PATRIOT I'm a Libertarian, but identify as a Libertine. I am a SUPER LIBERAL and I think Obama is a middle-of-the-road conservative. He's FAR too conservative for my taste. So go fuck yourself and if you're an idiot, reply.
all the issues we have today was created by bush. He lost thousands of jobs and crashed the economy. Obama wasn't great but he was cleaning up his mess. Obama created back all the jobs bush lost and even more jobs. And even though all people say now a days is that the economy is shit, but its the best it has been since the great depression
Noah Cho Actually, that is incorrect. In Clintons last year of Presidency, the economy began to struggle. And the economy was destroyed by banks lending mortgages to people they knew could not pay. And if you took the time to study, you will see what political party was forcing these loans and what party was against it. Bush said on multiple occasions that this housing boom was going to be the downfall of our economy.
That was the greatest and most important pitch in Major League baseball history... My only wish is that we would have kept our word when we all said "WE WILL NEVER FORGET" this country is more divided than ever... I pray that it doesn't take another 9/11 to put us back together like we were then
Astounding! The BEST video I’ve seen on TH-cam in quite some time. It reminds me of what a hellish presidency George W. Bush was handed by you know who. The guy had to really step up on 9/11 and STEP UP HE DID! This video is a testament to how he provided leadership during truly desperate times. America has come a long way in 17 years. We are THE BEST so long as we STAY AWAKE!
Back in the day when we had a REAL president and not one who bowed down to terrorists or tried to disarm his own people. G. W. Bush made me proud to be an American.
This is why I Love America. ... We can talk crap about each other pretend from one moment to the next to hate each other but Lord have Mercey cuase you will never see a group of people Unite faster if an outsider messes with one of ours.... Deep down inside we are all Red White & Blue and God Bless our only True Friends Canada, Britain & Australia
+Adam Onello “The United States is like giant boiler. Once the fire is lighted under it, there is no limit to the power it can generate.” --Winston Churchill
Why did this video warm my heart so much? Maybe it was when I saw the part when those teenagers were cheering on their country... I wish it was like that now :(
Watching this brought tears to my eyes remembering when we were a proud and strong country, with a leader who loved this country and put her first instead of his own agenda.
At the time, I wasn't a fan of GWB...but I remember watching this and thinking wow, this guy has balls and clearly loves this country. I gained a lot of respect for him that night.
As a Yankees fan and someone who is not a Bush fan, I feel that, while it was disappointing NYY lost that series, this was more special and more important. It was something that city, and this country NEEDED to see.
I’m was pretty impressed at that really nice pitch he threw. Perfect strike. So many people who throw out the first pitch can’t even reach the plate. Really awesome moment for the country.
I'm Canadian and this moment is the type of thing I admire most about the USA and that is the ability to come through adversity during the most difficult times and be unified as one, and it goes right back to your national anthem written during the war of 1812 when the British had you on the ropes: and the rockets red glare the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, and o does that star spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
I was at this game. The security outside getting in was crazy. The roof tops were covered with snipers and rifles. Not a GWB fan but this was a very cool moment to attend YS.
This and the megaphone speech where he went to ground zero days after the attacks and said “The people who knocked down these towers will hear all of us soon” are two of the most patriotic moments in American history. This man loved his country and all who lived in it. Whether you agreed with him on policy or not, there’s no denying that he genuinely cared for the American people, which is more than we can say about most politicians today.
United we Stand. Arguably the most powerful statement to ever live. Those 3 words can bring 300+ million people together in the best and worst of times.
The good old days, when the US had a President who loved and was proud of the country and could throw a baseball like a man. Didn't agree with everything he did, very few people ever do. But he is a class act. I can't remember a single time he's ever trash talked our current POTUS. Too bad the same can't be said about "It's not my fault" Obama.
I miss when everyone loved their country like that.
ikr me too
+InuitInua
Too bad, he fucked it up big time with the Iraq war.
+Yanick Norman you're fuckin stupid get out of here with your dumb comments like that
BASS_GAWD is that the best you can come up with?
+BASS_GAWD Well he does have a point there. Bush did have aot of love for this country. But, he just made some really dumb decisions.
Love him or hate him, this was a GREAT moment to watch. Brings chills.
+DonCorleone87 Exactly!
+DonCorleone87 Fantastic
+DonCorleone87 Exactly. From his powerful walk towards the mound to him standing confidently on the mound to the perfect first strike. Epic moment, still brings chills.
+1lecher And to top off your comment which is great by the way----He was in his early 60's?? And now he is still biking around his farm etc.

I'm not american, but I'm astonished of the level of patriotism and love for a country in one single pitch. This is absolutely awesome.
They also had a bald eagle that was trained to fly from the upper stands to it's trainer on the field that night. It was an incredible way to start the game.
Sounds like you would make a GREAT American in my opinion
Also bare in mind this was really soon after 9/11, so it's not only a really inspiring amount of patriotism, but it's also directly after and in opposition of the biggest terrorist attack in history, in the same city it took place in. We love our country. Best place in the world and we will protect, stand by and defend it until our last breath.
Thank you.

Nick Hanley The fact that you think that a MEME is actually true "Bush did 9/11" is hysterical
Nick Hanley Your comment has been AoSYTC certified. Congratulations!
TOO BAD IT WAS AN INSIDE JOB
jhaz89 he nailed alright
Cry everytime I watch this. Bush wasn't the best president but he had a very strong connection with the people of the country. I was proud to be an American when Bush was president.
couldn't have said it better.
He loves America!!!!!!!
I think it was his finest moment.
dalew101 I’m always proud to be an American. W was good.
I'm Canadian and must admit I shed a tear while watching this!! My, how things have changed...
whether you like his politics or not, you cant deny that hes a true class act, and a gentleman.
fact!!!!
Young Mulla but he stepped on the line...
Steve Sanders Wasn't he in the National Guard?
I don't know if you are an Obama supporter or Republican but at least Bush can name some Rangers when Obama couldn't. Easy video to find. Just search Obama first pitch knows no players
Agreed. He was not the best president, but he was a good man and clearly cared about and loved his country.
People will say that he wasn't the best president.. But he damn sure loved his country more than anything.
he loved America so much he allowed 9/11 to happen in the first place but focus on the pitch
+Blake X Bush was responsible for knowing about Osama throughout the 90s and allowing the USS Cole bombing attacks to happen? Oh what that was Clinton LOL
Tony Knickerbockers George H knew about Osama too
Bush did 9/11. 9/11 was a cover story for to mislead the public into supporting the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Video Edits This is a great conspiracy theory.
best bush moment ever.....never liked his politics, but he was a good guy
i wish more people were level and reasonable enough to feel like this. :|
yep. totally agree
Yeah, he's like Jimmy Carter. He meant well but he wasn't a great president.
I never realized how similar Carter and Bush are in that regard, huh
Stefano C yes good guy who murdered tons of people
I was not a fan of him nor of his presidency. But he freaking crushed this moment. Walked to the mound. Thumbs up. Perfect strike. Walked off. Badass...
I am from Canada and I have never even visited the United States but I couldn't help but feel patriotic with the American people while I was watching this.
ontariobuds Just saw your comment and I want to say PERSONALLY THANK YOU!!
I agree
We all love Canada too. I was born in Colorado but every hockey game I go to I still show the same respect to O Canada as I do the National Anthem
yes but Canadians don't show the true patriotism like americans. for example homes in the states with flags are numerous yet virtually non existant in canada
Thanks Canada
I was a mile away, at my mother's home from Yankee Stadium, when I saw this on TV, and I could hear the crowd that night..... Speechless........
could you really? so cool. wish i were there
Say what you will about GWB, but this was an incredible moment.
Ben Severson it sure was.

She will. WE will.
she came back obama brought her back from what bush did.
What specifically was it that Bush did again?
Fucked America up
its back baby
Say what you want about Bush, but that is the way a President should throw a baseball.
Remember when we were all standing together to fight the same foe, instead of tearing each other apart like nowadays.
OMG!! You hit that nail
It's really sad, isn't it?
We've never been so divided as we are now.
Sad, very sad.
Back when republicans didn't have a black man in the White House?

Just had to come back and relive this... Incredible, amazing moment!
Derek Jeter played a serious fucking roll in history. That is a HUGE moment in American History in the underlying pages
A little biased much? When folks look back on all of the moments of Jeter, have you ever heard anyone mention this moment?

LIFADR+94 We have it back with President Trump!
No we don't. We have a bunch of entitled pricks who want the freedom of the country but hate the country at the same time
I miss how united everybody was after 9/11. Its lasted until everyone got distracted by social media, high tech, and the Kardashians.

16 years ago today, Rest in Peace to everyone who lost their life on that dreadful day. I was only 3 years old, but I remember that day so well.
this was symbolic of america still being strong after 911
God Bless you, Mr. President... We could use a real man that loves his country like you in the White House again.
Yeah -- how 'bout another 3 wars, 2 cities in ruin and no privacy due to Bush's own 'Patriot Act'. Sure doesn't sound like a 'blessing' to me.
Bob Judd
President Bush is a blessing and beats the hell out of the current asshole-in-chief, obama. Bush was the last real President this country had. At least Bush loves this country and not tearing it down like obama currently is.
Bob Judd
Hey, dude, you one of those fuckin demonRATS??????????? A libtard!!!!
The fact that everyone is coming together in the comment section is telling on how impactful that pitch was.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
BY far the greatest video on TH-cam...
GOD BLESS BUSH! a REAL president
AGREED!
Hell yea
all the issues we have today was created by bush. He lost thousands of jobs and crashed the economy. Obama wasn't great but he was cleaning up his mess. Obama created back all the jobs bush lost and even more jobs. And even though all people say now a days is that the economy is shit, but its the best it has been since the great depression
Noah Cho Loon much?
Noah Cho Actually, that is incorrect. In Clintons last year of Presidency, the economy began to struggle. And the economy was destroyed by banks lending mortgages to people they knew could not pay. And if you took the time to study, you will see what political party was forcing these loans and what party was against it. Bush said on multiple occasions that this housing boom was going to be the downfall of our economy.
That was the greatest and most important pitch in Major League baseball history...
My only wish is that we would have kept our word when we all said
"WE WILL NEVER FORGET"
this country is more divided than ever... I pray that it doesn't take another 9/11 to put us back together like we were then
Listen to the way he spoke about the US. He was assertive, polite, steadfast, mature and patriotic. What happened???
Beautiful, gives me chills! Thanks for posting this.
Back in the day when we had a REAL president and not one who bowed down to terrorists or tried to disarm his own people. G. W. Bush made me proud to be an American.
This is a great moment in American history. Resilient and patriotic despite tragedy
Not only a courageous act, he threw like a man and delivered a nice breaking ball.
April 23rd 2022 and I got chills watching this
Damn that’s cool you could cheer “USA” then without half the nation being mad at you.
1 of the greatest sport's moments of all time USA
This is why I Love America. ... We can talk crap about each other pretend from one moment to the next to hate each other but Lord have Mercey cuase you will never see a group of people Unite faster if an outsider messes with one of ours.... Deep down inside we are all Red White & Blue and God Bless our only True Friends Canada, Britain & Australia

America: the country with only three allies apparently
I wish you were right. Democrats have ruined that idea. I still feel that way, but democrats do not.
That was a great moment when he gave the fans the thumbs up. It made me feel like we were all on the same team....
was a damn good throw
Why did this video warm my heart so much? Maybe it was when I saw the part when those teenagers were cheering on their country...
I wish it was like that now :(
Watching this brought tears to my eyes remembering when we were a proud and strong country, with a leader who loved this country and put her first instead of his own agenda.
The secret service agent in the umpire gear is so cool
Awesome. We can and will stand together through anything.
Wow. This New Yorker, this Bronxite, thanks you for posting this. God bless you.
Brings back chills even 17.5 years later.
At the time, I wasn't a fan of GWB...but I remember watching this and thinking wow, this guy has balls and clearly loves this country. I gained a lot of respect for him that night.
Pretty cool video. President Bush seems like a real "down to earth" kind of guy. Would love to catch a game with him (Except I'm a Tigers fan)!
Absolute baller!! Went out in front of all those people who came to watch the greatest sport in the greatest country in the world!
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
He has a very relaxing voice though I will say that
As a Yankees fan and someone who is not a Bush fan, I feel that, while it was disappointing NYY lost that series, this was more special and more important. It was something that city, and this country NEEDED to see.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
I remember those few months after and how tight everyone was along with the amazing patriotism.
Murica
USA! USA! USA!
Yessir!
I have a hard time watching this without tearing up.
I’m was pretty impressed at that really nice pitch he threw. Perfect strike. So many people who throw out the first pitch can’t even reach the plate. Really awesome moment for the country.
So much 'MURICA in one moment. I'm crying red white and blue right now and a bald eagle just screeched outside my window. Also I have diabeetus.
I remember this on HBO...extremely well done. And what a pitch from GWB
“What is our life, our way of life, will continue.” Remember that today when they talk about the “new normal”
Still gives me chills after all these years... never forget
Obama gave him props in an interview with Bill Simmons for making such a great throw.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
...and the dude smokes it down the middle of the plate. Boss move. And people question his ability to deal with pressure?
And now, as a foreigner, seeing young Americans mocking and disrespecting their own country just breaks my heart.
Back here 9/11/20
I'll never forget!!
I was at this game. The security outside getting in was crazy. The roof tops were covered with snipers and rifles. Not a GWB fan but this was a very cool moment to attend YS.
...and on top of everything, it was a great pitch.
If a national crisis like this occurs when Obama is still president, please don't have him throw out a first pitch.
To this day seeing the President throwing out that first pitch, still gives me goosebumps
One of the Bravest acts I have ever seen and a great Pitch!!
What a great moment. This gave me chills watching then and I got emotional.
470 dislikes? That isn't even right to give the thumbs down to this video.
Awe, goosebumps, tears, pride and incredible respect!!!!!!!!!! He was and still is The Man!
If you're an Israeli, true.
Love It! and Proud to be an American! He was a great leader and this reminds me of my confidence in the USA! and of our resilance
I wish the country was like this now... no crying liberals, no protests, common sense, and respect
Tonight is the first Trump/Clinton debate.
yes
You don't say?
I'm just gonna assume you're from reddit
Morgan Montz wow, you are brilliant
and now trump is going to be president
