The actress performing Peggy does two characters in this show, one per act. Her singing choices are dramatically different from one character to the other. She made Peggy sound young and innocent, and a little bit annoyed. However, Maria Reynolds, her other character, is played older, and more seductive. It’s in the comparison that I find just how good she is.
@@EterPuralis lol I understand how you feel, I had the same reaction the first time I noticed. Like wow woman you changed a LOT! It’s why in the Alexander Hamilton she’s with the other two saying “I loved him”
I honestly don't know that and I watched it 3 times before found out about it in a random comment in an animatic video. I mostly recognize people with voices too rather than face. I thought it was only the boys.

Oh also! Cool bit of trivia - that last riff wasn't originally in the show. Lin-Manuel Miranda added it after hearing Jasmine, Renee, and Philipa singing together and harmonizing for fun in the dressing room the 3 of them shared every day
I wholeheartedly agree with ALL the songs IN ORDER! And whatever you do, Winter's Ball, Helpless, and Satisfied MUST be enjoyed together IN THAT ORDER. If you want to hear the "and Peggy" girl use a very different tone of voice, listen to Say No to This ( but be warned there will be major plots spoilers).
You should react to more Hamilton songs!! They were very powerful and full of emotion. I love helpless and satisfied (they are tied together in that order) shows multiple perspectives between Hamilton, Angelica and Eliza!
One strength of Hamilton is that it has little to no dialogue. So you can listen to the full album (and a ton of imagination) and still get the full picture. We're lucky that the good folks here on TH-cam have separate videos (take your pick, lyric videos, animiatics or what not) of each song. So just know the order of the songs and you can praticaly watch the entire musical here 🤣
Per Lin Manuel, when they were performing at The Public (off Broadway) the three girls shared a dressing room and would play around, harmonizing and making up runs. LM heard this and knew he had to put that in there, so he added, as he described, “more gratuitous runs” for them.
As a Hamilton lover, I have watched many “vocal coach” reactions. You are the first to actually explain what the actresses are doing vocally to achieve their sounds. Bravo.
First, the gentleman is the narrator. He’s Hamilton’s rival and nemesis and the one who finally fatally shot him. This piece was a tribute to the girl groups like the Supremes and Martha and the Vandellas. That’s why the tight harmony.
Please react to Renee Elise Goldsberry (pink dress) in her incredible Hamilton solo "Satisfied". You won't be sorry. Hamilton is about 50% rap, but slow enough that even I can parse it (and rap along). Thanks for the Hamilton reaction. Please react to more.
I've mentioned it before, but you really need to listen to "First Burn" by 4 of the ladies who played Eliza Hamilton in the various companies of Hamilton. It's amazing, no rap, just wonderful harmonies. Also, shout out Diva Plant! ;-)
I love that you literally picked out "And Peggy" as the best line because that is how literally every fan of Hamilton who actually has seen the show feels. So well done lol!
Guns and ships will blow your mind just for the sheer volume of words. It’s the fastest rap I’ve ever heard. History has its eyes on you & One last time... Christoper Jackson breaks my heart. His voice is so smooth.
