Dating and marriage is a waste of time and money lol. How does one even afford a 800,000K bto with a 3.5K uni grad pay. The math doesn't even work out. And even if u have that amt of money u need to wait 5 or 6 years. If not u go for resale and pay over a million
1) BTO on average doesnt cost $800k. 4 room BTO in most area cost only 400 - 500k. (excluding proximity grants and low income grants). Assuming no grants (v unlikely), the down payment require for a 500k flat is ~100k(20%), of which 10-15% (50-75k) can be paid using CPF OA. 100k divide by 2 is 50k per person. With a 3.5k monthly salary, one just need a couple of years to save 50k (~2 yrs if one is prudent)
2) If dont want to wait can just get resale HDB. Average resale 3 room is 300k+ 400k, 4 room is 500k+ (depending on location). Pay 20% down payment, get a bank loan and u can get the keys
3) Most HDB resale that cost over 1 million are either in the central core region or are maisonette. Nobody force u to stay there if u cannot afford it
Suggest u look up the latest HDB transaction data and educate yrself on the housing grants instead of making up numbers/using outliers to justify why "the math doesnt even work out"

If housing is really so affordable as u claimed, why need cooling measures? Why not heating measures to increase the price further?. And also, your claim of only 1M in central or prime areas doesn't even make sense, perhaps u have not done your research about the pricing in punggol, yishun and before reservoir. Are these prime areas or central areas as well? And also, not everyone is willing to take up a bank loan at sky high floating interest rates. If housing is really that affordable to u, I don't see why the majority does not agree with your statement and your reasons also doesn't explain the significant increase in over 1M transactions in the past few years.

1) what i meant by "nobody is forcing you to buy" means if u cannot afford a $20 chicken rice u can have a $5 one elsewhere. not sure why u r using $20 as a benchmark when the average price is around $5
2) I did not use the word affordable neither did i deny the fact that HDB prices are increasing. anw "affordable" is subjective. however, I did present facts: Average HDB BTO/Resale doesnt cost 800k or 1M and there are government grants available to those in need. I also did a breakdown and show how a couple with 3.5k average salary can pay the down payment by just saving a couple of years
3) I mentioned that MOST HDBs that fall in the 1M range are EITHER in the ccr or are maisonette size (>1500 sq ft). the 1M HDB sale in punggol and yishun are >1600 sq feet. a typical 5 rm is 1200sq feet or so with an average price of 600-700k+. so a 1M price tag isnt too absurd IF you read the entire article instead of just the sensational headlines. u have the tendency of not reading and jumping into conclusion
4) "not everyone is willing to take up a bank loan at sky high floating" - thats y there are grants in place to subsidize and cushion the blow of high interest rate. i think u should be old enough to know u cant have the best of both worlds: want a big house, want it cheap, want low interest rate, want price to be low when u buy, want price to appreciate when u r a home owner. sad to tell u that the world doesnt revolve around u

Unlike Japan, South Korean, Malaysia and Indonesia, i think Singapore has less culture. Been there many times and i think that country is westernized. Yes, it's a clean in Singapore and all that, but they seem to have no culture. Love the video tho

What do you mean by that? Is Singapore not diverse enough to your liking? 💀 To me, Singapore is a fairly multiethnic nation. Ranging from the Indians, to the Malays, and the Chinese, and even more? All of this culture is what makes Singapore special. You say Singapore is westernized but our National Anthem is still in Malay. All our general road signs, posters, and etc around Singapore are mostly translated into the three common languages of this country. Not just that, but we even developed Singlish which is made up of english with various langauges and dialects on the side. So what do you mean when you say that Singapore is westernized? And what do you mean when you say that Singapore has less culture? All in all, we have these different types of cultures incorporated into the country. And we do try our best to embrace it. Be more specific next time. And be more careful with your examples. I’m puzzled as to why you included Malaysia, both Malaysia and Singapore share many similarities between one another. Our cultures are almost the same.
