مفت نہیں تو بطور قرض حسنہ ہی مدد کر دے

The first qawwali i had ever seen, was with Dildar Hussain Kahn. Unbelievable.
Akhiyan udeek diyan, with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
The crowd in the video was just enraptured by the music, which has a real powerful effect on the musicians, like a feedback loop. I haven't seen a more lively crowd in a qawwali video since. Not for lack of talent though...
*this was probably at the height of Nusrat Kahn Sahib's popularity (in the east). Yet it would be another 10 or so years before he really became popular here in America and the UK, through Peter Gabriel bringing him to his fans, and then it just exploded!*
Feel so lucky to have been open minded enough to listen to any quality music, from anywhere back then.
