Cool thing for us non-Japanese speakers to realize while listening to this song is that she's flipping between sounding like a "pillar of society" and sounding like a delinquent. The song is about being fed up with societal expectations. She's effectively voice acting in her songs to bring out those emotions.
Like Chris said, Ado is rock n roll. She's also punk, she's metal, but interestingly, she didn't grow up on that kind of music. She basically grew up listening to Vocaloid music like Hatsune Miku , listening to other singers doing cover versions of Vocaloid tracks, Disney theme songs, and Japanese rock. She's also a big fan of K-Pop. If you listen to her All Night Nippon radio show, you can tell that the way she sings is an extension of how she speaks. When she gets emotional or upset when she's speaking, her voice flips like the way she sings. Hope you get to see Ado live and maybe even interview her about her technique. Keep the Ado reactions coming!

I have to admit, Chris Liepe became my most favourite reaction channel for Ado songs. His analyses are always on point and hearing his professional opinion and break down of Ado's voice is very entertaining AND educating. I learned alot here which enriched my enjoyment of Ado's songs and her incredible talent. It feels like I didn't really knew why Ado's voice had such an amazing impression and effect on me and now I see the reason behind it. Like as if someone knows why a masterpiece of art is a masterpiece not just because it looks pretty for one but also because one knows the difficulty behind the creation of it and how much talent, technic and work got put into it. I often wonder if Ado's voice and analyzing it had any influence on Chris' job as a vocal coach and if he was able to learn anything new from it which he may use in his lessons. Something like that would be really cool.
Quick bit of context! The video you just watched doesn't just show how good and unhinged her usseewa performance is, but also demonstrates her progress as an artist over time, as this is a recopilatory video of her performing this song in four different tours over the years, I love this video because it not only shows how much she has improved her voice, but also how much more confident she is as a performer, as well as the venues getting bigger and flashier over time
@@smthspshl ok you are talking about new and young artists, just keep following japanese music that they will show up just like Ado, she sings like this because she grew up in a country full of singers like her, japanese people are used to this, I know so many singers like her but they are not 20 years old anymore.
One thing I love about ado is that she does know what vocal techniques are, she knows the importance of them, but she literally just don't care when singing live, she wants to express what she is feeling, she wants for you to know what is in her heart and mind through her voice, when she is singing, she is just materializing her emotions through her voice.
the face you made when she starts straight up screaming is the same face i made. unhinged, but somehow controlled. i truly can't wait to see how she matures as the years go by. Ado is really something special
In terms of taking care of her voice, she said in an interview: training, for example, I run every day. Be sure to sleep more after concerts. In another interview, she said not to repeat her screams with her vocal cords, otherwise there will be problems, because it is done differently (I did not understand how exactly in Japanese)
That long note singing " Mondaiwanaaash" at the end literally totally sounded like Ado saying " Yep I did all that and yes Im totally fine, here's your perfectly placed long note " like fkn salute bro I can only wonder what the nightmare the stage musicians had to go through in this performance, we should give them some credit too if they actually kept up with this all hell breaking loose
I don't know if they were the same in these previous concerts too, but the ones at the world tour went as insane as her, especially the girl at the keyboard danced along the songs for the whole concert
it's funny how metal music isn't mainstream now in Japan as it used to be back in 1980s~1990s or the early 2000s but her techniques are so influenced by metal-ish vocal cracks and distortions and she's one of the leading singers in the current Japanese music scene.

what i love about Ados live performances is that it feels like shes delivering the songs like she's reinacting a memory and letting her audience be a part of it (if that makes sense)
In general, with her voice, she could just sing, and she would be famous, but she does extreme things, tries, studies, she is interested (if you listen to her songs in retrospect, then a lot of what she does now, she didn’t do before did)
(preface) this is a live footage from her first to 4th live concerts joint together so you can see the scenes changes 4 times. One thing to observe is from the 1st to the 4th concert you can hear how she just lets it go more especially the 4th one, its crazy. as someone who so far has been to all her concerts, the thing I lost the most about ADO is the fact that when she sings live there's always a twist compared to her recording, sometimes its a different mix, different screams or grits here and there and during her latest live she said she tries to convey different emotions all in her songs, ussewa is described as ”Anger" and she really does show it. Lately she has been so much more free compared to before, more movements, more improvisation and like Chris says, shes not always on pitch but she leans into the off pitch so bravely and freely it creates such a cool sound, I do wonder how her throat or lungs works lmao.

i had goosebumps all over and almost had tears in my eyes on the last part where her voice totally went "unhinged", like "anata ja wakaranai kamo ne. ah tsumaranee, nankai kikaserunda sono memory" actually means "for you, it might make no sence at all(because you're too numb/dumb to understand)). ah it's so lame/boring how many times do you have to make me listen to your memories(by memories meaning all that nonsense you're showering me with)" and the last line "dou datte iize, mondai wa nashi" means "it doesn't matter to me, there's no problem at all(because i don't care less)" and the way she ends the song with that shouts truly gives the sensation of her not caring about singing words clearly but more focused on projecting core feelings or emotions. i think the technique she's using is somewhat similar to how metal singers sing but how she's utilizing it is almost like listening to emo/screamo style vocal.
so glad you reviewed this, her usseewa performance is one of my favorites of her live performances (along with unravel because those CHILLS down my spine) especially since I get so nervous with people reviewing ado and disregarding her due to her unique techniques (though I haven't actually seen any vocal coaches do this) you're course has also genuinely helped me a bunch, especially in regard of teaching me proper form and placement PLUS giving me the much needed motivation to pursue my vocal goals!! There's always someone to say "screaming isn't singing" or even "screaming isn't acting" too. No but you can do it in both and have a right way to do it! Ado is the prime example of "there's a million ways to scream correctly"!
I'm loving these ado videos. Would love to see a reaction video to 'tuki. - bansanka'. Another up and coming singer for sure, only 15 but sounds so mature!
I'm Brazilian, and I can tell the pace of this song is very similar to what they play on the "trio elétrico" that is a truck with giant wall of sound boxes where "axé music" singers play for hours during carnival parties. The pace of the songs they play is always very fast. The breath control has to be beyond perfect to keep up with the beat while you're bouncing at the same time. I guess this singer can do that with no effort.
There is another interesting version of Usseewa, released not far after the original. It's a piano version, so it's much easier to hear Ado there. She's not as unhinged as during the live performance but it's still impressive since it's a piano and voice only cover and she makes it so intense
One benefit of remaining in silhouette: no visible face. Some of my favorite drummers can look pretty goofy when giving their all. By way of how she shapes and produces sound, Ado might display some memeable faces.
By the way, there is a recording of her singing this simply to the piano, without processing【Ado】 うっせぇわ Piano Ver. th-cam.com/video/G_jdDwi3Otw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LRV6RlW0lYu4b3oa
Chris, Ado has uploaded a very long video of her and friends going to karaoke, I think it might be interesting to hear her literally raw karaoke singing and I would love of you to analyze it!
By the way, you can hear "Tot- musica" live, but I don’t know if this video can be used for analysis: [LIVE] Ado - Tot Musica with romaji+english | 歌詞 | MARS concert 2023
hello! She sings "Utakatararabai" as recorded live without processing. You can watch it at Ado live "MARS". However, surprisingly, this "Ussewa" is the 20th song in the live performance. This volume of voice is amazing. She will sing 24 songs live the day after this live, and she herself has no sore throat the day after the live and no problem. I'm saying
This is a somewhat random suggestion, but I feel you'd be quite interested in and could provide some great insight on the song 'Privately Owned Spiral Galaxy' by 'Crywank'.

I'm loving these ado videos. Would love to see a reaction video to 'tuki. - bansanka'. Another up and coming singer for sure, only 15 but sounds so mature!
I'd love to see you react to Reol's first take of The sixth sense. Thank you for your j-pop reactions, really enjoyed it!
Another live performance I recommend is Odo which youve already covered for the recorded version
I'd 100% agree with this! Her live performance of Odo is great!
Who the fuck is Odo? 😅😂
I've heard some people say that Ado has like multiple voices, all fighting over for the spotlight, I guess this is true.
9:16 omg i had the SAME reaction!! shes just so crazy and i fucking LOVE THAT!
4:22 is like my dog when I try to take it's food LOL
Absolutely love these analyses though, they help out a ton!
To correct yourself, she is not human, she is a goddess
If you like Ado, you'll definitely like Kyo from Dir en Grey! Would be awesome to see "vinushka" by them or "Obscure"
Seconding the recommendation for Kyo. He's a beast, even after damaging his voice with the more extreme stuff he used to do.
By the way, there is a recording of her singing this simply to the piano, without processing【Ado】 うっせぇわ Piano Ver. th-cam.com/video/G_jdDwi3Otw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LRV6RlW0lYu4b3oa
Thank you
Chris, Ado has uploaded a very long video of her and friends going to karaoke, I think it might be interesting to hear her literally raw karaoke singing and I would love of you to analyze it!
You should watch the other live! She was basically screaming there
By the way, you can hear "Tot- musica" live, but I don’t know if this video can be used for analysis: [LIVE] Ado - Tot Musica with romaji+english | 歌詞 | MARS concert 2023
I'm saying
You should check her sing dignity live❤
if you like ados freedom, i think you would love DOGMA by the GazettE!! i love watching you break down ados vocal techniques.
[14:10] Anyone can Sing but the BEST Singers are "FEARLESS!"
ピアノバージョンのリアクションも観たいですね。
ピアノ以外の音がないし、デビューして間もないショートカットヘアーのAboの歌う姿も見れますよ。
Ado has two sides, angels and monsters
Bro's neighbour must think that he's possessed or something
"東京カニバリズム"のリアクションお願いします!彼女の才能が1番分かる曲です😊
この人のAdoリアクション毎回叫んでるwwww
And still I really want to see her))
the meaning behind the lyrics deserves an unhinged angsty performance ..
there is only 1 Ado ❤
Nope! Her song Unravel live is the most unhinged she gets.
Done a video on that one too! :)
Adoooo❤❤❤
This is a somewhat random suggestion, but I feel you'd be quite interested in and could provide some great insight on the song 'Privately Owned Spiral Galaxy' by 'Crywank'.
HELLOO!!! I love all of your ado reactions and i think you’ll like O light by kikuohana! the vocalist (hanatan) is very talented, she has a very powerful voice🤗
Great insights
4:22 pov: you are being harassed the local goblin.
Japan is the place where rock n roll happens now ❤
I can understand what she's doing most of the time, but sometimes i don't know how is she possible 😭😭💕
I saw the vocal teacher’s reactions to the song “Show”, where she said that she couldn’t even sing it
@@Olkam-w5u I've also seen other professionals say that Crime and Punishment is something almost impossible to sing and I agree, Ado is from another world
@@Hoshi-Legna No, not from someone else, she just became a Master at the age of 21. Master of your voice. There is an example of such a person - Mike Patton, if he is still remembered.
@@Olkam-w5u Yup, or Chester Bennington
