Actually what happened was Hartnet got tired of the bs in hollywood where actors are just expected to fall in line with whatever the big brands say they should do. So he left acting and went off on his own for a while only to come back later and get involved with projects that mattered to him not to the industry. Basically he pulled a Chapelle before Chapelle did it.

This video gave me more of an idea of the kind of man that director is, than the kind of man Josh is. So someone said no to a role and then you blacklist him?? WTF. Maybe the director never even did such a thing. Josh himself said that he didn't want to have to deal with too much movie-star attention. It just wasn't him. Many movie-stars have that problem. Not everyone wants to be in the spotlight all the time, no matter how good you are at acting.

Bale also just happens to be one of the great actors of our time. He's willing to go through extreme bodily changes(gaining weight, losing weight)for his roles. I love it when brilliant actors follow their hearts and not what others think they should do . Josh is a good example of this . It's all up to the actor to take on the projects and roles that they feel is right for them.
We see so many actors who are cast in the wrong roles that it has become commonplace now. Josh is smart enough to reject such projects . Super hero films are way overated and the fact that he declined those offers shows his integrity as a great actor . There are several actors who have followed their own lead as he has done .
People should never pay much attention to all of the celebrity gossip and the paparazzi is often ruthless and shameless . If you love actors for being genuine people who don't sell out to fame and fortune then looking past their detractors becomes easier by the day .
God bless Josh and all other brilliant performers who maintain their integrity .

He has been working pretty much since those early roles. Wikipedia him! He's done something at least one or two projects a year, even a series or two.

You have to be one of the coolest people to refuse such iconic roles. A-listers are fame hungry.

Of course he deserves to be an A Lister again, if that's what he chooses. On the grand scheme of things, he really didn't do anything that bad. There are many in the acting fraternity that have done WAY worse and still at the top of their game.

03:40 "Not the guy you say no to.."
So Nolan is entitled for people to obey his every whim I suppose better bring out the popcorn when his rape allegations/'she didn't say no' happen.

Josh is going to be fine! What don't kill you will make you stronger! You believe in yourself and Believe in Your Destiny not even Hollywood can stop you from your dreams!! In spite this man is so gorgeous why shouldn't he be a very big film star.. And he knows how to act..

He is an amazing actor and it is good for him to take roles that he feels challenged and fulfilled with. I love Indy films and a lot of our greatest actors do them. Ryan Gosling and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to name a couple of the greatest. Hell, look at Leonardo DiCaprio... some of his best work was in Indy films.

I remember him. He was a good actor. His movies were very pleasant to watch. I remember when he was at the peak of his career, he lived very modestly with his girlfriend in a regular house, not in a million dollar Hollywood house.

It is Lucky Number Slevin, Lady, not lucky number seven as you said. And it is one of my all time favorite movies. I recommend it to anyone who has not seen it. Also Penny Dreadful is incredible if you like a little horror. Top notch actors , edge of your seat and excellent story line. I hope Josh Hartnett continues to do so well, he is intensely talented.

Yes, Josh deserves another chance, but he's reluctant to be one big star and that's good because it makes him look very down to earth.
He does not need to be recognized as a star more than a real actor. In fact he's such an amazing very real talented actor indeed.
    God bless him.
