This is why I love the speedcubing community, it’s all love and fun. Thank you everyone.
It's because most of us in the cubing community are very young, and everyone becomes friends through competing. And since it is mostly young people, there is no bitterness in the community. There is so much competition, where at the same time there is no competition. It brings out the spirit of sportmanship and The Olympics, i love it. The cubing community is the most wholesome and exciting community anyone can be a part of :D
I doubt some older people would have enough reaction time and dexterity to speed cube

It reminds me of Rave culture from 15+ years ago! Everybody cared for each other and everybody where are equals. We were united by our shared love of dance, music, and being open with each other. I could say so much more but you get the point.

Sometimes I feel discouraged because I’m still very new to the world of cubing (I started earlier this year and had never solved a cube before) and my PB is 35 seconds compared to 3 second solves. Then I remember the community we have, I couldn’t solve a cube at the start of the year and now I know about a whole new hobby and skill. That’s an amazing thing that I can work on for years and get better at my own pace and that’s beautiful especially with the ever growing amount of people there to support each other. It doesn’t matter if you can solve a cube in 5 minutes or 5 seconds it’s still incredible x

That's what makes speedcubing so awesome! The same happens when I enter athletics competitions. It's great to talk to your competitors about their jumps and congratulate them if they break their pb or beat you.
In these communities people would rather lose because their rival got a good score than win because their rival got a bad score.

so, let's get this straight - in the 1980's when people did this for speed, they would start the clock and look at the cube and start moving it, only stopping the clock when it was completed. I've looked at the video of this new record and from what I can see, he solves the cube in around 12 seconds then they start the clock and the next bit he could do blindfolded because he isn't solving it in that time, he's just showing us the solution he worked out earlier, before the clock started. What are the actual solving times on these cubes because at the moment, that 3 point something seconds seems to be largely dependent upon the technology of the cube manufacturer and not on the solving abilities of the player. Would he be as fast with an old cube/ what would his time be if it started from when he first saw the cube (around 15s according the video).

Max Park is now the goat. He broke the world record with a 3.134 defeating Yusheng Du's 3.475.
Unlike some other communities (fortnite im looking at you) the speedcubing comunity is so nice actually. I theorise two reasons:
1) people meet in person. When someone meets someone in person is much harder to offend than behind a screen.
2) the other people are already nice, so to make part of the group they kinda just do the same :)

Honestly I feel like the speedcubing community is one of the few where pretty much no one is mean or toxic, and that's what I love about it
Felix and max are like best friends and there the 2 best in the world until the little kid from under the cubing compitition building comes out of his hiding spot and gets 0.753 seconds
Speed cubing has to be one of least toxic communities out there and I love that.
