So glad to hear that you and the deer were unharmed Josie. I could feel the deep emotional trauma you had endured. Be kind to yourself, it may take a few days to get over it. Big hugs from Canada♥

I am glad you are ok and the deer. Keep thinking of that, and everything is OK. It is awful, but it could have been worse, and you were smart to add night vision. Thank you sharing such a personal experience. Take care and be safe.
Aww... Josie. That's trauma. That experience is traumatic. We have hundreds of deer around us here and the fear I have of hitting deer is very real. I stop traffic to move turtles across the road... your actions saved a life, that's emotional. I'm glad you're brave enough to share it with us.

Dear Josie I’m so sorry to hear about the deer on the road…. NEVER swerve to avoid an animal as you could hit a tree. We have kangaroos that jump out all the time here in Australia… they are huge and cause so much damage to your car. Rather an injured deer than an injured Josie 🥹❤️❤️
I also live in the country in the US and drive slowly around my neighborhood because I have the same fear....It is a terrible feeling to know that they are out there and so vulnerable....stay safe and know you did not hit the deer!!!
I agree. Josie’s sunny and genuine disposition helped me deal with severe depression. My mornings with her vlogs are ritual now :) I wish her lots of success. We should spread a word about her fantasies work.
Her vlog has been my escape for so long. The places she takes us, her cooking, her doggies, her family, it’s all lovely. It’s so good to have inspiration even living far away in Canada.
really? I mean I like watching her days but honestly she is a copy paste of many other youtubers. There are at least 3 other youtubers that I know of who are " a gardeners" ( but she does only the pleasant and easy stuff all the hard work is done by other people), have the same dogs, do pilates, have almost indentical houses amd buy buy buy (or really get for free) tons of stuff and advertise it to us so that we buy more and more
Shops used to have those tubes …back when an accounts Dept would manage your details and send back the change in a tube…all before credit cards and loyalty cards, the shop kept your details in a book.
I never ever want to ever hit any animal on the roads and I have seen just how deadly swerving away from them can be. Sadly in the US so many in highly populated deer communities people who swerve risk their human lives and often end theirs and innocent others heading in other direction. I know it’s horrible too horrible to even think about and I struggle with this mentality because it would break my heart to harm any animal but I also don’t want to end anyone’s human life swerving. I fear in the moment I’ll swerve. I know… it’s horrible but it’s one of my biggest fears. I also wanted to mention I’ve had several close calls and crazy enough those close calls stay with you your whole life. Like that fear, and adrenaline becomes a core memory. Like a slow motion movie with so many details remembered even though the moment was brief.
Wonderful that you introduced, Julie, to your channel. I've been a subscriber of Mapperton Live for several years. Thank you for taking us all on this lovely visit to Highgrove!!! So sorry you had the driving experience with the deer - thankful you are all okay! Your fan from SC, USA.

I loved your visit to HM King Charles’ Highgrove estate - my dream! When we visited London recently from Australia we felt very unsafe and never used our phone in public. It’s such a shame. I’m glad you are taking careful but necessary precautions. I hit a kangaroo in my 20’s after swerving the first one, it distressed me so much and did a lot of damage to my car, but apart from being very shaken I was unscathed. You poor thing it’s never nice being in an accident with an animal. Sending love and warm hugs your way.
Josie my grandma worked in a department store over 50 years ago that sent money from the tills via the same system they sent your blood so it’s been around for quite a while. Love Highgrove 🌳
That's a primal scream. I've only had one in my life and it was in Montana, where I'm originally from, and I had a deer run out in front of me too. I heard screaming and realized it was me. I was also hysterical. Very scary moment.
I have tears in my eyes hearing about your close call with the deer and I feel your trauma ~ I live on a country road too with deer, coyotes, and black bears and I'm constantly scanning the road! Thank goodness you weren't hurt and the deer scampered away! When my 18-year old cat was close to passing, I let out a guttural scream that I had never made in my life so I could definitely relate to you screaming.
Sorry to hear about your driving incident Josie. I can so relate. For me it was a rabbit. I too swerved but was told that one shouldn't do so. I, like you, am so very fond of animals and would hate to injure one. I would be emotional as well. So glad the deer was Ok.
So glad you and Charlie have an interesting and enjoyable trip especially out during the holidays season now that it’s starting. Going to Highgrove I’m from United States and I absolutely know what a treat that would be. Seems like the day just went wonderfully. Seems like the people that were there were interesting and just a lovely bunch to enjoy the day with there. Wonderful place to be I’m sure and being a good company made it even better for you and Charlie I’m sure. So glad you enjoyed yourselves. Glad you made it home. Safe safely as well. 💙🩵🙏🏯🏰👑👸🤴🫅
Josie I am so sorry you had to end your wonderful day with such an emotional incident. You are such a caring woman and I am so happy for yours and the deer’s sake that no one was hurt.
I know how you feel about the animals on the road. Here in Montana where I live, there are racoons, foxes, skunks, rabbits, pheasants, and deer. Striking them while night driving is always a concern for me. I'm glad your car alerted you to a problem beforehand, though. Since you asked, it is best not to swerve because, as you found out, deer are very unpredictable and you never know which way they will turn when startled. With swerving there is a real danger of losing control of your own car, going into the ditch or into oncoming traffic causing harm to yourself as well as others. It may sound heartless, but slow down as much as possible and stay the course.
Hi Josie. I used to work in the newspaper industry years ago and newsrooms used to use the same way of sending information back and forth as your wellness lab...called the pneumatic tube. I believe it started in the 1800's.
I love King Charles and his ethos. I watched Julie in Ladies of London and have watched Mapperton and her refurbishing of the little italian house so was pleased to see her and you know her. The house and gardens are fascinating and glad you mentioned skills as I have an old school carpenter and he is passing his trade down to his nephew. Old bricks can be replaced for like by a company near me and they restore old houses. Sash window repairs also. I would be tempted by the shop too and Buckingham Palace has Highgrove items for sale. Loved your dark coat. Good to see you and Charlie together for a day out.
There are some women you spend time with on these vlogs who seem to bring out joy in you as was evident today as your interests evolve and you settle into the Cotswolds.
I can 100% identify with your fear of hitting an animal - I don't know if anyone else feels this way but in addition to not wanting to cause an animal any kind of pain, I also feel that it would be so "unjust", for lack of a better term - we're on their turf, they ask little to nothing of us, they're better "people" than us, really (imo). So the thought is horribly upsetting. I am grateful and glad that two lovely spirits (you and the deer) are alright. ❤
Glad you are okay Josie ❤ having had a bump I know my confidence was knocked so even though you had a near miss give yourself a moment for your emotions to fizzle out and you will get your 'gumption' back as they say in The Holiday x
Hi Josie, as you were talking about the deer I really felt for you. I drive to work at 3 in the morning and I literally creep along there is so much wildlife around mainly deer and you just can't see them until it's almost too late. It's also my worst fear to hit an animal, I hope you're ok ❤
Sending you hugs josie, so sorry to hear about what happened with the deer can tell it totally shuck you up we were on our way to the cotswolds a few weeks ago and a little squirrel came running out the hedge and we heard it hit the car we was so upset over it so can understand how you feel.
So glad you and the deer are okay Josie. ❤ This may be divine timing, but you might want to pull out your book "The Body Keeps the Score". It may help you process the trauma of you almost hitting the deer. If we don't process trauma either a big T or little t. The body doesn't know the difference. The trauma gets stuck in the body if we don't process it and then can manifest in a disease or illness. Be well, Josie ❤
Growing up and living in the Pacific Northwest of the US I’ve had many near misses with deer, elk, and other wild critters. It’s just something you have to look out for here. I did hit a deer when I was 15 and riding a motorcycle on a gravel road. It ran out right in front of me I didn’t have time to even react. I got a lot of road rash but the deer got up and ran away like nothing happened. I think we both lucked out that there weren’t worse injuries.
Oh wow, scary! I live on the west coast of Canada and I had a huge black bear jump in front of my car, luckily I was driving slow and had time to stop. I once ran into a group of horses that had escaped on our local highway, that would have been deadly.
Josie, all what you said about with your journey home, I can relate too, I absolutely hate driving at night on country roads, I have always been the same, because of hurting an animal, something else is I never put my lights on full beam, as I never want to attract an animal out or blind it, I’m sure I have an obsession with this, but I drive careful and so glad to hear you are okay and the deer was too x
I’m very sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience on your way home, I’m glad that you’re OK and also the deer! A friend of mine was killed one night, he hit a moose which came into his windshield, both of them died instantly! 😢Night driving can be very nerve wracking! Thank you for sharing, I enjoy your content very much Josie! 🥰
So glad you, the deer and the car survived! It is heartbreaking when an animal is killed. It is inevitable around here because there are so few areas where they can stay concealed. …..much too much development.
I use to drive down a country road to and from work for a few years and Josie my worst fear as well was an animal running out in front of me, especially at night when it is so hard to see distance. I use to say a prayer every trip back and forth that they would stay away from the road. Luckily I never did hit anything but saw many that had been hit and couldn’t look either.
From tea at Highgrove to a "wee at the Ritz"..... you are the absolute best, Josie!!!!❤❤😂🥰Elegance and down to earth wit. xx I Looooved the Holland Cooper coats, wow! Thankful you were safe from the deer! I live near a forest and hitting a deer is definitely always a fear. Once there was a buck that was next to my car in the dark as I drove by and his head was taller than my car. 😮🦌Oh deer!
How frightening the incident with the dear - I'm glad you're both ok. I feel the same about animals which is odd really when I consider that I eat meat!
So sorry you had that experience, Josie!! I can totally relate!! 😢 I still think of the time I hit a mole/hedgehog (it has been almost 30 years ago now). He had a friend/relative with him who ran into the brush after him after the incident!! I screamed and cried). My daughter was in the backseat and she still remembers this incident today!! We are both animal lovers!! I hope the shock wears off quickly for you!! 🤗
Josie, I live in southern California in Norco, Horsetown USA and I can't tell you how often horses have jumped off the trails right in front of my car, and I fear hitting them and also them putting a leg through my windshield. I was teaching my granddaughter how to drive and telling her to watch out for horses and just at that moment, a rider and horse jumped off the trail and right in front of the car, to which she successfully applied the brakes in time. Sooooooooooo scary.
Feb 2022 I hit, head on, two deer. Happened on a bend and I had no where to go. I killed one, the other got up and ran off. Traumatised for the rest of my life. So glad you and the deer are ok, sometimes living in the countryside is so difficult.
Isn’t that what Lydia is doing … trying to make her home look like it’s old and has character ? Each to their own I guess. I’m so glad u and the deer were not hurt … take care of yourself x
very nice travel and shine presentation and also humbleheart that acknowledging the "DEER" accidents , loving heart towards animals looks like you are franciscan , a saint who loves animals😘
I am so sorry about the deer incident and I would be the same and it is a real fear of mine too. Luckily it has not happened and glad you had that warning. I used to drive through a very rural route and rabbits also I fear hitting. I have never hit anything but I hope you feel better.
I totally understand your fear of hitting an animal. I'm the same way. If I see a dead one I can't look and I even have to take a different way home. My husband always thinks I'm crazy because I will literally avoid hitting caterpillars too.
Oh Josie, so sorry to hear about your terrible experience with the deer. I have the same fear as you with animals when I’m driving and I think for people like us the reaction is perfectly normal. Luckily you are both okay and it’s at times like that, that I wish I had the ability to erase bad experiences or at least put them to the back of my mind . Thank you for a great vlog and for being so honest about what happened ❤
I'm so sorry you experienced this scary experience. It speaks volumes about your gentle, caring nature that this frightened you so deeply, Josie. Thank goodness the alert on your car worked so well, and that the deer escaped unscathed! ETA that Julie is a former Chicagoan, I follow her too. Loved to see you both together - can you please have her over for a meal/visit, and you go to Mapperton for a vlog, too? Please!
How amazing you were invited to Highgrove I’m so envious. Sorry about the Deer 🦌, it is very upsetting if you hit an animal, we have a lot of Muntjac around us, as well as masses of Badgers so it’s a regular occurrence to see them hit and on the side of the road very sadly 😢.
I loved Highgrove gardens the little pom poms on the bushes lol The towns are so beautiful and charming were you live. I am so happy you and the deer are fine these unexpected encounters are terrifying. Have a wonderful evening!! Big hugs from Boston US... I am a bit jealous of your snow on Instagram lol 😇😘
How lovely in VM - my goodness she could be such a different personality. Loved the chat with her & you both which she has on her vlog from that day now on her channel - 3 people with a passion who have a grt deal of knowledge but continually learning - a grt trio you do make discussing all things house restoration. You must do more together.
It's a few years old now but the King had a really intersting tv program about heritage crafts called "The Prince's Master Crafters: The Next Generation" I believe it aired on Sky.
Lady walking bye our house on crunchers with 3 sauger dogs and one got loose and she couldn’t run after it there was cars going bye so I rang after it and manage to get it before it got knocked down she was every so grateful ❤
So resonate with the deer thing I’m not a vegetarian I know I’m a hypocrite but can’t I bear to see the cattle lorries I have to look away and I feel terrible 😔
I watched Charlie at Highgrove. I really think you two are a match made in heaven!❤ Dear Josie, I know how it can be, I was driving home on a country road in Ireland, in front of me it was a car driving really slowly, I decided to overtake and just when I was parallel with the other car, on the right lane ( the one I was on ) suddenly in front of me appeared from the hedges a phesant. I broke abruptly and my car stopped completely ( I was still on the right hand side lane- the wrong one ) just in front of the phesant. He decided to fly away barely touching my car. The other car, on the normal lane, on my left, continued driving. Absolutely dangeros, first the abrupt brake, then me stopping on the right lane, luckily no car came from the opposite direction. I went back on the left lane and continued driving, without of course, overtaking. But I remember when I did break, I screamed my lungs out, until the car stopped. Not a fan of overtaking since then. I was a wreck after that. So I do understand what you went through!❤
Oh heck they run to the head lights..it happened to me…a muntjac jumped out at me heading to the lights… yes it makes you jump…the car alarm sounds amazing…
Congratulations to you on your visit to the kings garden I am so jealous of you prayers and blessings to you and your family love 🥰 your Aussie family friend John xxx
So sorry about the car incident!! But please don’t swerve, you could do more harm if another car was coming the other way. To many accidents happen this way xxx much love
So sorry you had that scary experience thank goodness your ok and the deer 🦌 is ok I live in southwest cornwall we have loads of deer around it’s my worst nightmare also stay safe beautiful lady love faye x
❤🤍 Gurl!… I CAN Totally Relate with you, I feel the very same about animals and driving!!! so many emotions about it all! 🤍 That actually happened with me the other day with a squirrel!! He got away thankfully!! So glad it wasn’t worse!!
Sorry but I disagree. I'm Team Cornwall - jam first and then cream on top. Why? It's far easier to spread the jam evenly over the scone then dollop the cream on top! If you go the other way you get a dollop of jam as it's hard to spread it over the cream! Any Team Devon diehards who wish to share their technique for a better spread of jam - I'm open to be persuaded! I'm kicking myself I didn't know the Neko clinic was open when we were staying in Marylebone in Sept! Damn - right up my alley - will book for when I am back in March - hoping to get back to the Cotswolds too then and to one of the Strawtops! Consider getting a power plate Josie - have you tried one? They are brilliant for vibrational training - and they work your muscles both vertically and horizonatlly so give you a briiliant workout. 20mins on the PP is equivalent to 1.5 hours on traditional gym equipment.
Oh Josie, we are all so very sensitive to animals getting hurt ? We are beyond upset by our feelings of care and concern. At least I hope we are! Look after yourself. Xxx
Josie.loving Your lovely cultured curls ..could You do a a how to for us w/ out the expensive famous hair tool? Yours looks consistently Royal..love all you do..glad You and Deer survived! Just missed my first one here in Bend Oregon USA 💋
Its very upsetting for you its like been a mom and your child nearly really hurts themselves that scream comes out but i hope your ok and feel better ❤️
I have the same fear. There is so much development where I live and the deer are being pushed into neighborhoods and it’s so common to see one on the side of the road. Breaks my heart. On a lighter note can you tell us how to get your eyebrows?
Oh. Sweet girl…. I have lived in the countryside my whole life. I have had encounters with deer. One when I first got my license. I was 16. Hit a deer on my father’s brand new car. Both car and deer were fine. Encountered another one when I was 40. He rolled along the side of my car and folded in my wing mirror…. Alll fine. But hysterics after both encounters. I know how upsetting….. In a little pivot. Or what I like to call conversational jaywalking. I loved when you were trying to say something. And your voice was getting higher. And you just said “mew”. To reset. May be my new reset. “Mew”. ❤
Would anyone know if the cable knit pattern on a camel sweater would clash with a quilted pattern navy blue jacket. If so i may go for a plain camel sweater.

Do all influencers say "oh I'm running late, we needed to leave 5 minutes ago" and then proceed to do a film sequence?
😂I get anxious for them if they’re running late
Hahahaha it annoys me too 😂
The garden tour and afternoon tea has sold out now . Must be so popular 🥰 tours of up to 26 .think we will book for early next year
You are such a sweet and kind hearted person! ❤
Loved seeing you with Julie. She is so lovely xxx
Thank you for caring for animals, it means a lot to me, I love animals too
Did you have a garden visit planned from your vlogmas gift last year? For summer? Wasn’t it with your tea voucher? From Charlie….
Josie & Julie together!! Oh my goodness- how fabulous!!
You should have worn the first dress-burgundy-dress to High Grove. I love that dress! Also loved the white coat with the dress too.
Now you traumatized me
Your's and Julie's colab was the most fun and chemistry was so real thanks for the wonderful day
Isn’t that what Lydia is doing … trying to make her home look like it’s old and has character ? Each to their own I guess. I’m so glad u and the deer were not hurt … take care of yourself x
very nice travel and shine presentation and also humbleheart that acknowledging the "DEER" accidents , loving heart towards animals looks like you are franciscan , a saint who loves animals😘
My fav outfits were the dress & coat you wore at the tea and last blouse. The close call on road😢.
I am so sorry about the deer incident and I would be the same and it is a real fear of mine too. Luckily it has not happened and glad you had that warning. I used to drive through a very rural route and rabbits also I fear hitting. I have never hit anything but I hope you feel better.
Lovely vlog Josie! Glad you and the deer are okay, it is also my biggest fear !
I totally understand your fear of hitting an animal. I'm the same way. If I see a dead one I can't look and I even have to take a different way home. My husband always thinks I'm crazy because I will literally avoid hitting caterpillars too.
I am thankful to God you are fine Josie and so glad you did not hit the deer as well, stay safe always x
Cream first..the Devon way as our cream was almost butter darker and thicker than Cornish cream…..so they tell us ..the tea looked amazing
Glad you're ok, looks like you have snow, your fire looks sooooo cosy ❤
Oh Josie, so sorry to hear about your terrible experience with the deer. I have the same fear as you with animals when I’m driving and I think for people like us the reaction is perfectly normal. Luckily you are both okay and it’s at times like that, that I wish I had the ability to erase bad experiences or at least put them to the back of my mind . Thank you for a great vlog and for being so honest about what happened ❤
Thank you ❤
I'm so sorry you experienced this scary experience.
Deer are a regular occurance in Utah . My husband hit a 6 point buck one year. The buck was fine. The car.... not so much.
Only in Cornwall it’s jam first then cream ! But it’s only in Cornwall
Yes! Devon is cream then jam 😊
Don’t upset your Cornish followers!,😂
Australians like jam first then cream, sensible to spread jam first then cream
Lady walking bye our house on crunchers with 3 sauger dogs and one got loose and she couldn’t run after it there was cars going bye so I rang after it and manage to get it before it got knocked down she was every so grateful ❤
Oh wow!!!
So I do understand what you went through!❤
Lovely vlog Josie. I no how you feel it happened to me with a rabbit. It was awful ❤
Oh heck they run to the head lights..it happened to me…a muntjac jumped out at me heading to the lights… yes it makes you jump…the car alarm sounds amazing…
'Classicest' is a cute Josie-ism imo. :)
The gardens look beautiful! Thanks for taking us with you. Hope you're feeling better. xx
Congratulations to you on your visit to the kings garden I am so jealous of you prayers and blessings to you and your family love 🥰 your Aussie family friend John xxx
So sorry about the car incident!! But please don’t swerve, you could
do more harm if another car was coming the other way. To many accidents happen this way xxx much love
🥹🥹😔😔
Love Julie, good to see you do too☺️
So sorry you had that scary experience thank goodness your ok and the deer 🦌 is ok I live in southwest cornwall we have loads of deer around it’s my worst nightmare also stay safe beautiful lady love faye x
Xxx
My Josie Highgrove how spectacular! Excellent content thanks.
So glad you and the deer are ok. Truly, you are learning to be a Country Girl😊 Wait til you get chased by a bull 😮
“Mew”. ❤
Your hair and nails are INCREDIBLE ❤
Would anyone know if the cable knit pattern on a camel sweater would clash with a quilted pattern navy blue jacket. If so i may go for a plain camel sweater.
Loved your coat! So glad you and the deer and the car are ok 😮 can’t wait for the snow vlogs. Little jealous 😅
well done sounds like your a good driver I glad you got home safe larges animals can be so dangerous roads
