The awd prius is still a better choice imo, same hp, better range at nearly 600miles, less fuel to pump, really same cargo space with the exception of the kia having better head space but to me that's not a dealbreaker..prius takes the cake.

At the end of the day though, I'd still recommend the Honda HR-V in this class. Kia's build quality is 💩 and the HR-V is still relatively straightforward to use. Plus waiting for over a year for a new Prius is absolutely ridiculous.

Me and my wife rented a 2022 or 23 idr but it was actually a pleasant car. We just wanted to keep the miles of her car and it was comfy and did the thing well.
We chose the Seltos SX in 2022 over the Subaru, Mazda, Kona and have been thrilled with it ever since. It's fun and has plenty of spunk when you want it, especially in sport mode. The hiccup was the lack of wireless Android Auto and Carplay. A wireless dongle solved that (but shouldnt have to).
Nice review guys! I didn't hear you mention the biggest change though. Yes, the increased power is great. But the best news is the new 8 speed transmission. No more DCT for this, which makes it notably smoother than before.
Nice! I bought a 20...20..1(?) Seltos new for my mom and I don't like it for that reason. She loves it to death but I wouldn't recommend it. If they've fixed that then Kia has a solid vehicle on their hands.
@@johnholst I agree. I do think it's driver input that makes it herky jerky at low speeds. It the accelerator is modulated like you're driving a manual trans at low speeds, it works just fine.

Great review. Just a suggestion- Can you compare this with the Corolla Cross Hybrid? It has better gas mileage however, it doesn't have the same amount of interior color options. Additionally, the Seltos is more roomy and they are both in the subcompact SUV segment.
This car sells like hotcakes in India. Looks, Features, Quality and lots of powertrain options. A simple test drive and that seals the deal. Very good car imo. Although we get the 160hp motor with a DCT here in India.

Mazda CX 30 is way better. I took a test drive of both in the UAE. Unfortunately Mazda is not available in India and I Ve read somewhere that Indian seltos has a very poor body structure

Nice review. These are sharp, and I think priced well for all that you get. In fact, it kind of pisses me off what this car has that my C300 doesn’t, and for $20K US less.
For the reviews, would it be possible to add a look at reliability and issues from prior years and if there are any changes to fix those issues. I love the look, but worry about if the car is going to implode in the future years, at least with Toyota you know there is a better chance that your vehicle will age well, and your resale value will be better.
Love you guys. Best reviews anywhere. Big however.. I trusted you guys about Hyundai and Kia cars and I bought a 2018 Santa Fe XL. Great features, great price, but it turns out they blow engines after 100,000 km and Hyundai ghosts me then after months agrees to pay for a short block only and repair will still cost me 11 grand plus tax. Hyundai Canada won’t talk to me won’t reply to an email and only the dealer does, and they almost laugh off how horrible most of their engines are. There are thousands of owners in FB groups etc saying what no mainstream car reviewers are saying. Don’t whatever you do buy a Hyundai or Kia until they address their engine problems.
I think it looks great. Mature and upscale. I love the newly available Pluton Blue paint, but I'm so disappointed it can only be had with an all-black interior (ick) and can't be had with the handsome Brown SynTex interior, as shown here. I also dislike that the price increased a couple thousand dollars for the "S" trim over the 2023 model in the U.S. Manufacturers need to quit driving up prices by leaps and bounds.
I agree, I want a nice colour with the brown inside, I'd prefer the pluton blue, but I'm leaning towards a Grey as I think I'd like the interior contrast vs exterior colour.

This Kia crossover will not be much smoother than your golf. “Big” SUV’s are body on frame trucks with a built in topper. They are the smoothest. A good suv doesn’t feel big while ur driving. Most of them are fast as well as smoothe.
I know several people that have been waiting 6 months for an engine replacement on one of these. No loaner vehicle. Engines have less than 30k miles on them.

If you want something like this with better MPGs and in my opinion better styling get a 2023 Niro! The PHEV gets about 100mpge. Real world usage I have gotten 1000 miles on a tank.

KIA MÉXICO-ALERT, BEFORE YOU BUY SELTOS---I hope that out of respect for those who are about to buy a SELTOS, my comment will be preserved. Mine is 2023 and I bought it with a lot of effort, only the same day I took it from the agency I realized that when it accelerated it was neutralized, today after 6 months the problem continues in the process of visits and warranty claims I have already met At least 8 people whose transmission is failing, the FB groups of this model the users are exposing their documented cases with INAI folios and complaints from PROFECO.
I would not take any of those cars. In the past month, my daughter had to rent cars because hers got shot up in Oshawa. She has had the Kona, Corolla Cross, and the Seltos. I hear that Shania Twain song: That don't impress me much playing in my head.
I can see piston rings wearing out with an engine that is small powering the whole big SUV. I have 2021 seltos and it's burning oil already around 60k.

could you discuss or disclose the likelihood of this or any new cars, on how soon after purchase does the customer keep the vehicle outside for the inevitable fire potential maybe recall. also anyone else agree with me in that when automakers tout "best in initial quality" or statements of the like, it is the dumbest thing to gloat (stated as first 12 to 18 months or something). I would hope that my multi 10s of thousands of dollars spend on a new car have some kind of standard expected quality. I worked in the dealership level auto industry and that always annoyed me to hear.

Korean cars have lately been dominating the market. They didn't have the best reputation in the early 2000's, now they're a German car competitor.
We chose the Seltos SX in 2022 over the Subaru, Mazda, Kona and have been thrilled with it ever since. It's fun and has plenty of spunk when you want it, especially in sport mode. The hiccup was the lack of wireless Android Auto and Carplay. A wireless dongle solved that (but shouldnt have to).
I prefer wired, you can easily disconnect your phone and it always stay cool

As an owner of a Forte GT, we also have the awesome sounding exhaust and a manual.
The manual is awesome because it's half a second slower to 60, 4-5MPG lower/20% worse, *AND* two categories higher in emissions than the DCT.

The Indian market Seltos is made on a different platform than the North American one. The platform for the Indian market is unsafe.

Why do you guys always review the most expensive trim level. Not everybody has boatloads of cash. It would be refreshing to see at least a mid trim level review once in awhile.
But did you guys check to see if the transmission shifting points are better when you do it? The full sport mode instead of just sport mode? Lol? Prayer hands

Every time you watch a review of the Seltos, they always test the turbo engine model. It may surprise you we are out there, you know the people who want to see a review of the non turbo model. Have any reviewers even thought about that?

Speaker grills angles are done intentionally for a superior sound as in great orchestra theatres of this world. IMO.
KIA MÉXICO-ALERT, BEFORE YOU BUY SELTOS---I hope that out of respect for those who are about to buy a SELTOS, my comment will be preserved. Mine is 2023 and I bought it with a lot of effort, only the same day I took it from the agency I realized that when it accelerated it was neutralized, today after 6 months the problem continues in the process of visits and warranty claims I have already met At least 8 people whose transmission is failing, the FB groups of this model the users are exposing their documented cases with INAI folios and complaints from PROFECO.

I would not take any of those cars. In the past month, my daughter had to rent cars because hers got shot up in Oshawa. She has had the Kona, Corolla Cross, and the Seltos. I hear that Shania Twain song: That don't impress me much playing in my head.
I can see piston rings wearing out with an engine that is small powering the whole big SUV. I have 2021 seltos and it's burning oil already around 60k.
Hopefully they launch this globally.
I’m sure Apple CarPlay and android auto is popular or whtvr, personally I never use it. I’ll connect BT for music but I don’t ever go as far as Apple CarPlay.

could you discuss or disclose the likelihood of this or any new cars, on how soon after purchase does the customer keep the vehicle outside for the inevitable fire potential maybe recall. also anyone else agree with me in that when automakers tout "best in initial quality" or statements of the like, it is the dumbest thing to gloat (stated as first 12 to 18 months or something). I would hope that my multi 10s of thousands of dollars spend on a new car have some kind of standard expected quality. I worked in the dealership level auto industry and that always annoyed me to hear.
