I bought my first pair in 1988 when I was sixteen. Back then, we called them ‘88s, ‘89s, etc. I owned what today’s kids call white cement, then I bought the Red 88’s (the black heel base was red). I wish I’d kept them but there is something still off about the Retros and 2023 elephant print. It’s still… I dunno “off.” I want to buy them but which pair do you think is the closest to my old 1988’s?
Idk man I’m 33 and I’ve had the 2013 pair but I think this one is so much better. I can see some folks not liking the vintage look but they got the OG shape down to the T dam near.

The toe shape and the painted back tab on the 2013 is garbage period. Also having the Jordan on the bottom vs Nike is another missed detail. Vintage details aside, the 2023 retro is much closer to an actual 1988 pair and that’s a fact.
I agree…esp that Nike air on the heel tab of the 2023 “reimagined” 3s…way better…the 2013 nike air on 88s looks awkward/fake on the 2013…font seems more bold on “reimagined” which looks way better!
The new shape of the 3 is so much better people don’t realize that the 3 wasn’t all fat and puffy looking with that phat tongue 👅 like most of the retros have been for the longest

I gotta admit I’m kinda pissed they didn’t make the tongue part all puffy on the reimagined pair like the 2013 pair. As far as I can remember the tongue on the white cements have always had a fat puffy tongue. But I love everything else

There's no way , the 2023 is trash 🗑️ ,JB ruined em just like they ruined the Chicagos 1 high og with this lost and found bs. Ruined 2 classics. Thank God I own 2013 88s and 2015 Chicagos.
