  • In this new episode, we show you what the ODWC is doing to gain a better understanding of bats on wildlife management areas and other areas of Oklahoma. Conducting bat acoustic surveys, biologists and area managers are utilizing smart devices and sophisticated software to record echolocation calls from bats! Tag along as we show you how this technology helps identify bat species and their locations with this complex, yet simple method. We also give you a look at our popular Selman Cave bat watch held every summer near Freedom, Oklahoma. The cave located at the Selman Bat Cave WMA serves as a maternity cave for millions of Mexican free-tailed bats. Viewers marvel as the bats leave the cave at dusk, flying over head.
