Although this seems a bit cost-optimized compared to the first-gen R9T, with this R12 branding it seems likely that scramblers will follow, and wouldn’t a part-faired and bagged R12RT be cool?
I love the R12! It’s exactly the bike I was hoping for after losing my beloved R1200C in an accident and you did a great job introducing it. Thank you! The R1200C fit me perfectly and was a masterpiece in many different ways , for example how elegantly and practically the suitcases could be added. Since you alter bikes, do you think it would be hard to build and add some kind of mount so I could use the suitcases of the R1200C on the R12? And do you think it could it be done without looking silly? 😅 Thanks again for this great and informative video!
Finished a very extensive test ride. Pro: 1. Engine, tons of power and especially torque. Does NOT feel like 95 HP, more like 120-125. 2. Brakes incredibly strong, very confidence inspiring. 3. Build quality 4. Cruise control works beautifully, easy to engage / operate 5. For someone around 5,9ft 175 cm this is very comfortable for long distance. Also nice low seat. 6. 719 finish looks great. 7. Digital display is crystal clear and very bright so amazing visibility. 7. Tech laden CONS: 1. KEYLESS allows you to switch the bike on and off but not lock/unlock the steering, meaning you still need to take out the key regardless. Absolutely retarded. Unless I have not figured it out somehow.. 2. No fuel gauge. Mind boggling 3. Quick shifter feels BAD in the first 2 gears. Very jerky changes. 4. Tyres grippy but could have been a little better. 5. Rear shock is hard with very little travel, so only a little better than a triumph bobber or Indian scout bobber.
Good Video, nice R12 line... Hopefully new wheel spoke pattern for both Cruiser and R9T will stiffen rims and run tubeless tires also. Good video, keep customising .. R9T cafe bike fan racer
A bike costing just over £14.000 to over £16500 and no fuel gauge? So who in BMW decided in 2024 we can't be bothered to fit a fuel gauge which to many will be a deal breaker?
Great presentation on this Super Cruiser. I have been fan of BMW Bikes since the 80’s & loving my R18 over a year now. I had my eye on a Rocket III as well, now I’ll move over to R12. Assuming it has the same 1802 CC with lot more HP than the R18. VIVA BOXER!
I must say/write that I am surprised to hear anyone say that they are excited that BMW kept it air cooled over having it liquid cooled. I wondered why BMW didn't go LC for 2024.
@@PierCityCustom The reason why i ask, i had an 82 Kawasaki 1000 CSR and i never rode it hard and its pipes were an amber color. And other bikes i have seen where i knew how they were ridden easily and the pipes were the same amber color. Thank you for your reply.
Sat on this at the show. Really liked the bars (or would do in standard black). When you're playing in the workshop would you see if they fit the gen3?
@@PierCityCustom Hel or similar hoses would no doubt solve the brake and clutch line issues. Is there no reasonable way of extending the cables? Shame that BMW go on about the bikes being designed to be customisable if they only mean from the seat back!
Straight away they give the impression that this is built for inexperienced new riders. Well if that's the case you might just as well buy a Royal Enfield Meteor 650 and save a ton of money
Surely it's better they make a range of bikes to suit a range of riders? I'd love to ride a R1250GSA or Ducati Hypermoto, but unfortunately it's not an option. But I can and do ride a nineT.
Love hate the R12, unfortunately....butt ugly rear end, should leave that to HD. Bobber version i've seen, looks stubby and lost...not as clean as the Triumph Bobber.... Love the idea though. Brave of BMW. Can't wait to see what you can do to that thing. I'm also not sure the R12 9T has really improved on the R9T we all love so much.
Love the R12, not sure about the R12 Nine T, the out going Nine T is so perfect it didn’t need a new look. Great first look guys.
BMW motorcycle designers, resign collectively, the models you design are becoming more and more rubbish
Ridiculous

Yer we feel the Scrambler will be the next in the series.
Thankfully they still have an R12 NineT
Thank Goodness!
If they can keep it at $15,000 I would buy it tomorrow. Today is Sunday.

They're not out yet
Disappointed. Huge rake , even lower seat( I’m only 5’8”)…. The engine is a wasted in a cruiser. Love the fuel tank though.
I would defo not dismiss till you have had a test ride.
We'll be doing a second vid when we get hold of one.
I actually like it. I am interested to see what wind screen luggage options are released for it.
Same story our end! We've seen a few variations on the press material and can't wait to see them in the flesh!

Anything is possible, you just need an open budget.

Looks like it'll handle lean angle better than the R18 at least.
Can’t wait to check it in person. Thanks for this excellent presentation 👍
Us too!
Thank you very much, we really appreciate the compliments on our presentation, we do try!
would be nice if they made it as calssic as r18
Our build idea will be along those lines.
r18 is beautiful but its super big...i think a smaller version will become more popular@@PierCityCustom
Clearly bmw would have done their research in a crowded market - price will determine its popularity the bikes were under cover last weekend
I am looking forward to the US getting this on their shores!! It is at the TOP of my list!

Yer… the fuel gauge bit baffled us too.
You need a better noise cancelling microphone dude.
If you drop the bike the motor is gonna be fucked
Never understood how y can use a bike this way

No engine spec numbers or seat height???

Wow CCM
The audio quality of this video is horrendous
Bulky, heavy, ugly. No thanks.
Air cooled doesn’t enthuse me but it looks cool.
MPG/capacity ratio. My Z900RS will go 200 miles on a tank, because I love riding.

The knee angle of this bike looks extremely acute.
When I see bikes with black and blue pipes I think thats a sign it has been rode hard. Am I wrong about that?
No not at. This is just natural colouration from heat cycles.

Oh yer, it can all be done, no probs. It will just make fitting a set of bars £££ The hoses from the R12 may well even work.
@@PierCityCustom Cheers. I hoped there might be cost effective plug-in loom extensions but I guess not 😞
"Get some bread ready, we're making toast" 🤣🤣🤣
BYOB.......
Air cooled or oil cooled?
Oil/air cooled.
Has it got a fuel gauge now ?
That is a great question....... and unfortunately it is still a reserve only.
Fuel gauge not necessary- just watch your mileage

Another tiny bike for tiny people. So lame. Make a bike for people that aren’t a dwarf please.
You're right! Thats the reason that I decided on a Kawasaki Rs900r
R18 is for you, then
They make the GS beemer for big people
