I’ve discovered the Shuttlepod Show just recently and it’s a treasure. Considering they’re relative newcomers, it’s heartwarming to see Connor and Dominic embrace the Star Trek universe. Collectively, this eclectic group of hosts works perfectly! I was fascinated by Ms Crosby’s behind the scenes stories and her life story. Finally, a big shout out to the sound engineer for the awesome sound!

When I was a kid the TV just happened to be on when Yesterday's Enterprise was airing. I hadn't seen an episode of TNG before that. Man was it amazing. The next day on the bus to school I heard some guys talking about how great the episode was. Man were they right. I was hooked after that. Thank you, Ms. Crosby, for a great intro to Star Trek!!!

You know what I really appreciate? It's the casual way Connor throws out Star Trek (Enterprise) terms like "Phase Pistol" or points out "What's a Klingon like now?" to demonstrate knowledge of the Star Trek universe. When so many actors have tried to distance themselves from their Sci-Fi work or they seem to not know any of the lore or terminology, these guys do a great job of discussing just like any fan might. I'm really impressed with the discussion. It's both interesting and entertaining.

Denise is such a remarkable individual. I've alway been a fan of her work. I was able to have a conversation with her on a radio show called Talk Trek And Beyond.
The episode "Skin Of Evil" aired here locally the same day my father died. It was a very sad dark time for myself and the family. I had to let Denise know that her performance and that episode helped me get through my father's death. To this day I'm still grateful to her and for that episode for helping me deal with my father's passing. Thank you Denise and of course Conner, Erica and Gregg. 🖖

Denise Crosby is an exciting and wonderfully kind person. Both in person and on screen. Her charm and talent can't match her warmth and wonderful sense of humor. Watching and listening to her interview here she gives incredible history and insight to her career and the details of her Star Trek experiences. Especially her electrifying chemistry with Chris McDonald (who is another talented and charming performer) . Thank you Denise for your personal commentary and your fan appreciation. Loved both Trekkies too! Great job Connor, your questions were spot on and perfect for this interview. Bravo Connor and Denise!

I don't know if you will see this Denise but my mom passed away in 2014 she was a very sweet woman. She had disabilities as far as education but she was the smartest person I've ever known. She always thought you were so pretty and she liked your hair. She liked your character so much. i used to love next generation it got me through a really shitty childhood. I was poor as dirt both of my parents disabled I got picked on for being overweight and poor from the garbage kids at lawrenceburg central elementary and the shit garbage middle school. Ioved you charater as well, she was so strong and brave and you portrayed her so well... i hated how they exited your character, and im grateful for all you have done and shared in this interview. thank you for everything

  • @der.Schtefan
    @der.Schtefan ปีที่แล้ว +3

I've said it before, I will keep saying it again. I watched a lot of TNG lately, a lot of podcasts, this is the one that is the most novel, the most "amongst equals" and asks all those questions no other podcast will ask (because they repeat the same stuff since 35 years). And it only works because the hosts are StarTrek actors themselves. The guests open up and suddenly become human beings with a back story, and not just imaginary people from the TV. I love it so much!

Put pot in the pot...wotnot... The "universe" knew that 1 day, Tasha Yar would change the lives of women of all ages, across the globe... for generations to come - teaching strength, confidence, leadership...(and then of course, Playboy). So it sent the Mexican dessert angel saviours. Thank you Ms Crosby for making Tasha and Sela a beloved part GR's view of a better world future. Great show! Thank you guys, so much. Love getting to know our favourite people in the Star Trek world without all the noise! 😉😁😋😘 Much love.

Crosby's frustration with the lack of both screentime and development for her character is understandable.
No surprise why she left and given how she was let out of her contract, it's clear the producers weren't going to fight her on this issue.
In fact, TNG didn't really do a particularly good job at writing for its three female series regulars. Especially when you remember that only ONE made it into season two.

I like Mark. Interesting fact: He's the producer of the show. Great interview. As a young man in college in 1988, I remember her on Star Trek. As of 2023, Denise reminds me of a woman I recently dated 😊. The gift given at the end to each guest is so classy.

What an absolutely delightful person to listen to and such an interesting person is Denise, and what a fantastic portrait Conner. Great interview again by Conner, Erica and Mark. Can't wait to watch the interview with Michael Dorn. Thank you again all for this wonderful show, best wishes from 🍷🍷Ed from South Australia 🇦🇺

Hate to nit-pick here, but there is no letter 'e' in 'CONNOR'..

Phenomenal actress and character. I legitimately cried at the end of her arc in Star Trek Online.

I LOVE Denise Crosby. She is one of my favorite Star Trek actors! And, that's saying a lot because there are SO many great actors in Star Trek. I think I am beginning to understand what acting is. I thought it was a form of lying. But, I think that's totally wrong.
When you lie, you are hiding something and putting a wall up. Pretending (acting) is when you make yourself vulnerable because everyone knows you are pretending so you are basically laying naked on the rock. It's like when people get scared when someone jumps out and yells 'rarrr!' You see the real person in that reaction.
It takes huge big balls to be a great actor and Denise Crosby has,... well... she doesn't have actual balls, but, you know what I mean. Courage to be vulnerable. That is extremely hard.
My favorite episode is 'Yesterday's Enterprise'. One of my very favorite Star Trek episodes (no, I didn't say 'my very favorite episode of TNG - I mean, of ALL Star Trek episodes).
UPDATE: I just got to around 51:00 in the video and they are saying the same thing I said!! Ha! It's nice to know that my opinion on that episode is alright. That episode was great! And, Denise Crosby does some great acting!

I actually haven't watched this one yet. Only just found the channel, Watched the Andrew Robinson one and most of the Nana Visitor one. Really great show and looking forward to the rest. It's great how much of the shows so far have been devoted to non-Trek. Taking a real interest in the PEOPLE behind Trek and not just the show itself. Friendly, well-balanced and funny.

Ok, I had to google her shoot, sorry. She looked great, and I like that haircut! And all natural, as it should be in my view. Wonderful. Fun interview :-)

Thanks so much for doing this cool show! I've never gone to a Trek convention, but I've always loved Star Trek in all its iterations. In Next Generation the character of Tasha Yar was cool, & I was shocked when they seemingly needlessly killed off her character. Now it makes sense! Haha
