Saw this in an audience when I was nine years old. Chaplin re-released his movies in theatres for the first time in decades. I saw the light and never looked back. I will NEVER forget the sound of a thousand people literally screaming at the sight of Charlie getting accidentally high on cocaine. 90% of the gag is HOW it happens. Chaplin was a master of structure which is why his comedy still works. You cannot teach that. Nice work.

I remember first time I saw this movie and laughed my ass off...then watched it again when I grown up...Almost break into tears by the hope behind all the sadness and helpless.

Man, this made me really want to watch Chaplin's films. And emotional about them and the end of the silent film era, even though I haven't explored the genre.
And, I'm excited for your short film Matt!

the last two silent films of importance were City Lights and Tabu 1931. Then Charlie Chaplin released Modern Times in 1936 ten years after Don Juan the first sound film was released. That was a neat way to send the silent film out. Having the tramp and his beautiful girlfriend walking off in the sunset like that

Technically the last movie to star the tramp was the great dictator as it was Charlie's intention for the last tramp movie he made to be a "talkie"

buddy! Great review and very well analyzed. I just wanted to understand how you use movie music in these reviews without getting into copyright issues. You have used the music from the movie, is it safe to use as im planning to use it myself.? Im getting lost in the copyright info thats out there and just need a bit of clarity. Thanks a lot. even the movie clips. how can i use these?

Hey thanks man! So technically under fair-use, it is perfectly acceptable to use movie clips in a review. However, because of random youtube algorithms, you will get a copyright strike anyway, and possibly your video taken down. That's why most youtube critics have resorted to showing still images from the movie, rather than clips. It's the same with music from movie soundtracks, the algorithm will detect. The only reason I did it was because I wasn't making any money with these videos, I just did it for fun. So I had nothing to lose. If you're planning on building a channel around movie reviews, I would take as many precautions as possible to not get taken down by copyright BS, because it's actually much worse now than when I uploaded this. I hope this helped!
