I love this TH-cam! I am half Cambodian/Australian, my mum and grandparents moved to New Zealand in the 80s after the war and my yeay and dar have tried to teach their grandkids Khmer but growing up in an English dominant country we loose it. My mum and her two brothers can speak Khmer but all of us grandchildren cannot. I have tried everything to learn Khmer and keep the language alive in my family and this is the first time I think I’m going to be able to remember and actually talk with my yeay in fuller sentences I’m so excited to learn and be able to actually respond back to her!!!

So escited to start your lessons!!! My sister is Khmer, she came to live with my family in 1982. Sadly she does not remember much of the language so we are learning it together for our visit in June of 2025.

Perfect video!!! Thank you for repeating it 3x and having a slow version. I like how you timed it and the phrases you chose. Excellent! 🎉

It's a good lesson but i got confused which word to use where. e.g. " Nice to see you". Nice = sab-baay-jedt? ; To See = baan-juab? ; you = Neag? OR "Just look around", Just = Groan-dtae; look = meul; dtay = around?. It would be very helpful if you just break down the english word with corresponding khmer word.

Hi, your Khmer transcription is different from other. Is it official? How did you do that? The government has submitted the Khmer transcription system to UN years ago.

@@takeoboy No. It's not official. This is my own way of writing this transcription.
