I have PCOS, and my Endocrinologist put me on Metformin, which helped to regulate my hormones, and as a result my hair grew back. See if you can see an Endocrinologist for treatment.
I work in healthcare and I stopped wearing those fiberglass bonnets and went back to wearing a tie-back surgical cap instead. Unfortunately I'm experiencing breakage from the hair line to abound 2 1/2 inches in. I believe that I need to find a replacement for my Lululemon sweatband, as that seems to be the only irritating item pressing on that part 9f my hair.
Absolutely avoid cheap bonnets with the elastic band around the edge. My hair would always wiggle in and get caught. Also beanies. Don't let anything tough and they came back!
Im in the process of trying to grow my edges and my nape back. I was wearing wigs with satin bonnet. My edges were safe from the clips and combs but the bonnet was doing more damage and I'm so upset with the setback.
Did this and had the same results I am recognizing a problem area in the center of my edges that is refusing to thicken. Any suggestions would be great! ❤

I stopped wearing bonnets. I wear satin/silk turbans to bed; no elastic edges rubbing on my edges breaking them off 👍🏽.

I just wear a Grace Elaye slap cap. Those cheap beauty supply store bonnets will chew your edges up.

I keep water and castor oil butter on my edges when wearing protective styles instead of feels & edge control. It’s helped wonders ❤
