Hi Sherry! I finally found some time to watch another podcast! I just enjoy them so much!! First of all let me say I love your blue pin- tucked shirt your wearing! I think Teddy would be lovely with Liberty print paws, and I love "all" of your pretties!! I think my favorite thing that you make has to be your embroidered bags though😉❤️❤️! Oh and by the way I also have a cross-stitch picture that I started in 1979!! The fabric is way to yellowed to finish it, but I still keep it in a drawer!?? My favorite book when I was young was called The Boxcar Children. Sending lots of love your way!! 😘😘😁❤️❤️❤️
Love your podcasts - you have inspired me to take up embroidery again. Please don’t apologize for any of your ums and lovelies. Your content is wonderful and I don’t know how I missed them these past years, I am playing catch up.🥰
Sherry Iris Thank you so much!! I’m excited to make this, and if the offer of a skein of your beautiful yarns still standsI would love it! I have some of your mini skeins I ordered earlier this year and they are lovely! My ravelry ID is monicamarief. Thanks again, and I really enjoy your podcast. You have inspired me to try embroidery for the first time!
I had so many favourites as an avid child reader, Treasure Island, Black Beauty, The Secret Garden, Heidi and Moby Dick. I also loved Rupert the Bear and Look and Learn annuals. We rarely watched tv as children but my earliest memory is Watch With Mother's Bill and Ben and The Woodentops and a cartoon the adventures of Bengo The Boxer Pup and we had beautiful Boxer dogs.
I really enjoyed watching your podcast, Sherry! Thank you for sharing all your lovely makes and childhood favourites! I love your idea to patch up your teddy with Liberty paws. My favourite book from my childhood has to be The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge - I have such fond memories of my mother reading the book to me and my sister and it is beautifully written. I'm looking forward to seeing your nuthatch come to life! xxx
thank you for your lovely podcast. You show all your projects with such honesty and it gives me the courage to have a go as it doesn't have to be perfect. My favourite books as a child was "my naughty little sister" as I loved the characters and the illustrations by Shirley Hughes were beautiful.
Hi Sherry, I have just watched all of your episodes back to back this afternoon and it has been an absolute pleasure. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely projects, and encouraging me to pull out my embroidery projects once more. You are such a joy. Have a lovely day. Love Christina x x
Hi Sherry. Lovely podcast. And now about the strawberry - carrot mug. My first thought was in fact pineapples (Am I the only one?), a little bit quirky, but definitely pineapples. And now I am off to your etsy shop. Keep on crafting.
Love the podcast! I really enjoyed Enid Blyton's Famous Five books. Me and my friends used to pretend we were them when we took off on our bikes. Brings back lovely memories!
"Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think." How can you choose between Sara Crewe, Mary Lennox, or Anne (with an e!)? I discovered you this morning, and because I've been home most of the day, I've watched all of your podcasts back-to-back. Yes! I've got a cross stitch project over 30 years old (intended for a friend). I've made too-big hats that fell to my grandchildren's shoulders. Over the years, I've sewed, embroidered, crocheted, and am presently knitting. Keep creating your beautiful project bags and delightful podcasts. An abundance of smiles!
Definitely for me it's watching worzel gumage with my grampa, I still put it on when I'm feeling down and snuggle under a blanket remembering how we would laugh at it.
Love your podcasts! :-) If it is waffle then it is waffle~tastic! Cannot wait for the next one! I love books and have many fond memories involving books. As a child I used to pester my Mum to go to the library so I could borrow more books. We never went often enough for my liking! I can remember the joy of being old enough to walk to the library on my own...Yipppe I could go as often as I liked and stay for as long as I liked...bliss!! Childhood books I have many favourites...I was an Enid Blyton fan...loved Famous Five and The Faraway Tree. Other favourites are Little Women...Little House on the Prairie...Winnie the Pooh...but my absolute favourite was The Wind in the Willows...I love Mole! I still love all these books today as an adult but The Wind in the Willows holds a special place in my heart and on my bookshelves :-)
Definitely a strawberry! Sometime maybe you could do a stitch along for the embroidery. It seems like there aren't a lot of things like that for embroidery. My favorite childhood book is The Man Who Didn't Wash His Dishes. I even read it to my kids when they were little.
strawberry! I have a cross stitch the same age, it is a monopoly board. I keep finding other things to work on. It will get done by the time my 10 year old grandson gets a house LOL
First, it’s a strawberry, without a doubt. Second, everything you have shown in your podcast is stunning - you have such wonderful crafty skills and I am in awe of your embroidery! Third, childhood books - the Malory Towers books and the Jill horse books (Jill’s Gymkhana etc - oh how I wanted to be Jill!) were definitely my favourites. The joy I had when my daughter started to read them too.
Gah! I haven't made it all the way through your video yet, but HAD to stop and comment on how gorgeous your cushion is! I love polka dots and red gingham. Your fabric combinations are 😍😍😍.
My favourite books as a child were The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton and The Milly Molly Mandy Series by Joyce Lankaster Brisley. I am really enjoying your podcast. I like it that you do all the things I love doing too.
A lovely recommendation from TH-cam! Watch all the episodes today and subscribed! New to embroidery, but made 2 crochet that need it to finish, so all the tips you give are welcome! Tutorials would be great, if you have the time of course, no pressure! Thank you so much Dutch hugs 🌷🌷😘😘
Lovely podcast Sherry - made me laugh out loud in parts! Will be looking forward to No.5 now! My favourite stories were Heidi, Enid Blyton's Mystery stories and to this day I still love Lorna Doone and Little Women. Favourite films from my childhood definitely The Sound of Music and The Railway Children. That was a nice trip down Memory Lane! x
Yes! Enid Blyton - don't know how I could not have mentioned some of my favourite books! I especially loved The Secret Seven and St Clare's books. Your choices bring back wonderful memories. The Sound of Music and Railway Children - still watch them at least once a year! xx
I love it!! Your many creative pursuits are so lovely to see and hear you talk about. I am watching from Tokyo, Japan and that gorgeous fabric you bought is a Japanese kimono obi. I often use them for table runners and I change them with the seasons. Looking forward to your next one. Thank you Sherry!
I just love your podcasts, Sherry, you have such a calming influence on me with your lovely gentle demeanour xx Your quilt is going to be gorgeous with the lovely fabrics you have chosen and your granny stripe blanket is looking fantastic. Hi Sherry, lovely podcast, really enjoyed my first visit to your channel, kept me company during an early hours feed! Where is your local fabric shop bye the way? And, I love IKEA as much as you! Kate x
Thank you for such a lovely podcast. My favourite movie and book as a child was The Secret Garden. I still enjoy it greatly as an adult and have multiple lovely editions of the book. I have to admit that initially I thought the print on your cup was of carrots but I once you pointed out he seeds I have to agree that they are strawberries.
Another gorgeous podcast..I think we are very similar in age and i too spent a lot of time at the library reading books after school...I love everything you do and thank you so much for sharing your embroidery tips with us. My favour childhood books were Heidi by Joanna Spry...I loved the mountains, the relationship with her Grandad and everything about the settings. I also loved Black Beauty...and The famous Five of course...Mallory Towers too...😀 And our nightime family ritual was for us all to say 'goodnight' in the Walton's style...so many happy memories, thank you for the prompt. Love and hugs xx
Yes! I loved Heidi - do you remember the series on TV? The Famous Five - yes again! Also loved the Secret Seven and St Clare's books. I've never read Mallory Towers but you're never too old to read Enid - might give that a read soon. The 'goodnight' from the Waltons - happy sigh! Thank you for watching! xx
Oh Sherry, I do love your podcast.....those little on screen comments are brilliant, you had me laughing out loud several times. Your makes are all so lovely! You asked about childhood books, its funny but one of my favourite books was my Observer Book of Birds which I still have, I just loved the little images, however I also loved the Milly Molly Mandy stories, the books always had a little map of the village where she lived, I wanted to live there too. My daughter loved them as well and so hopefully will my little granddaughters.
Just discovered your podcast and it quickly is a favourite! You are so inspirational and all of you projects are lovely. You are encouraging me to pick up my embroidery again...:) My favourite childhood shows to watch were The Waltons, Anne of Green Gables and Little House on the Prairie. Looking forward to your next podcast..:)
Well that was such a lovely podcast Sherry😍. All your makes are stunning you are such an inspiration 😘 I'm looking forward to your next podcast already 😘😘 xx
Brilliant podcast, love all your crafts. My favourite books from childhood were a series of books by Patricia Leitch called Ginny at Finmory. They were about the adventures of a young girl and her rescued Arabian Horse called Shantih. I was a horse mad teenager.
Just found your podcast, thanks to Emma from Eldenwood Craft podcast and I love it. The pace of your podcast, combined with your wonderful embroidery, sewing and general crafting, is just right. I loved series of books so Enid Blyton fitted the bill. The St Clare’s, Malory Towers series led me to the Chalet School series. I also loved Little Women and my mum introduced me to Anne of Green Gables, which was her favourite book as a child. In fact my middle name is Anne, with an ‘e’. Thanks again for sharing your work 😍
Hi Sherry, thank you for your podcast. I used to love watching Crackerjack on the TV (revealing my age) and Blue Peter (I never did get a badge), and my favourite reads included the Malory Towers series by Enid Blyton and I loved the Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Lovely podcast Sherry I've been watching a bit a day over a few days, I've just finished watching on a cold Saturday morning knitting some of my socks. My favourite book growing up was The Magic Faraway tree by Enid Blyton 😁
Lovely podcast. You seem very calm and gentle. I loved the Secret Garden too and the Little Princess. I used to make my brother read the Selfish Giant to me and I also loved Enid Blyton. I still enjoy reading and fancy giving audio books a go as I can't read and knit. X
We have very similar tastes in books - love all of your choices! I love audio books - I also listen to quite a few plays and books on Radio 4 catch up - they're often abridged but still a great listen. Thank you for watching xx
Just discovered your podcast and so watched episodes back to back - I love it. So inspiring and enjoying your humour too. I’ve never embroidered but going to have a go. My favourite book as a child was Enid Blyton The Magic Tree House. Can’t wait for your next podcast x
Lol Sherry hope you managed to get into the wedding invite! Another great podcast. Please can you do a tutorial with the little stitches filling something in! Thanks
So glad Amy from “The Little Tailoress” recommended your podcast - just ❤️ your podcast! Your beautifully stitched project bags are gorgeous 😍 We always read library books as a kids but when we went on camping trips mom would buy us a new book 📖. My first new book that started my love of mysteries was the “Nancy Drew Mysteries” series - still on my bookshelves today!
I'm new here, your voice is so nice and the pace of your podcast is lovely! My favorite movie from my childhood is "The Prince Valiant" with the gorgeous (then) Robert Wagner. He was my first love hehehehehehe! I have an Entre-Deux I crocheted 25 years ago with the intention of embellishing a sheet set, but it is still waiting for the sheets!!!
Red hair is glorious :) Reading books as a child can be so therapeutic, escaping into another world sometimes too don't you think? I always wanted to be as good a person as Anne! Thank you for watching xx
That was so, so enjoyable. You make me want to run to my sewing room and make ALL the things! I really love the bags and the embroidery. The dolly is sweet and who doesn’t love bunting? Favourite childhood books....there were so many but Enid Blyton of course, then there was What Katy Did, what Katy Did at School and What Katy Did Next by Susan Coolidge. One other I loved was Jill a Flower Girl by L T Meade. I might just have to buy that one if I can find an old copy. Questions.... do you use stabiliser behind the embroidery? Also, where exactly is the new Ikea? I go to the Bristol store but it’s a pain to get to from where I live and it’s not the nicest Ikea I’ve been to. Thanks for another lovely podcast. I’m already looking forward to the next one 🙂
Hi Margaret - Enid Blyton - yes! I loved the Secret Seven and St Clare's. Yes - What Katy Did (also just watched that on Amazon Prime video!) I don't know Jill a Flower Girl - I'll have to look that up. Embroidery - yes I would put stabiliser behind lighter fabrics but not the linens I use - I don't find it necessary. The Ikea is in Exeter - don't know where you are, so not sure if that's an option for you - it's a lovely store. Thank you for watching again and listening to my waffle! xxx
Sherry Iris We are in Yeovil but having a short break in Brixham next month so could do Ikea on the way 🙂 Thanks for the info on the crochet. I feel a bit faint at the thought of counting 275 ch but will have a go.
Sorry - I should have said! It's sock yarn that I'm using with a 3mm hook. I cast on 275 stitches, but I believe the amount of chain stitches has to be divisible by 3, then you add 2 stitches onto whatever number you have - if that makes sense!! So 91 x 3 = 273 then add 2 on = 275. Hope that helps xxx
Okay. I may just be adding a million comments. 😁I make dolls, with many different hair variations. Send me a message via Instagram and I'm sure I can help you work out your sweet doll's hair. I'd need to see an up close pic of the doll photo, and the instructions in the pattern.
Hi Sherry! For historical reproduction glass beads, check out this Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/heartofoakcrafts She has gorgeous beads. She is not open all the time but is currently open. Thank you for the info on embroidery! It was very helpful. Could you address how to place your image on a piece of fabric so that it sits appropriately? Thanks!
thank you for your lovely podcast. You show all your projects with such honesty and it gives me the courage to have a go as it doesn't have to be perfect. My favourite books as a child was "my naughty little sister" as I loved the characters and the illustrations by Shirley Hughes were beautiful.
Well that was such a lovely podcast Sherry😍. All your makes are stunning you are such an inspiration 😘 I'm looking forward to your next podcast already 😘😘 xx

Thank you for watching again and listening to my waffle! xxx
Sherry Iris We are in Yeovil but having a short break in Brixham next month so could do Ikea on the way 🙂
Thanks for the info on the crochet. I feel a bit faint at the thought of counting 275 ch but will have a go.
Ah - perfect - happy shopping! Yes - count carefully!! x
I forgot I wanted to ask about the crochet granny stripe blanket. How many chain did you start with and what size hook please?
@indigochickendolls

Thank you lovely Julie! Thank you for listening to me waffle on - so happy that you enjoyed it! xx
