I understand this song so much better when she sings it.
There is nothing finer than the human voice when it is in tune. It needs no other support, no auto-tuning, no back-room sweetening and engineering. It just grabs your ears and makes you pay attention. Well done to this lady. Well done.

A good vocalist will alter the pitch slightly as a part of expression.
And that's the hex if autotune. It dehumanizes the song. Fortunately indie artists like Morgan pass on autotune.

She's adorable. Love her voice. Edit- I've watched most of her performances and interviews and this is the one l keep coming back to because of her effortless power and yet l don't even like the song but when she sings this its mesmerising. That crowd really should shut up!

@Steve Anderson - Because mainstream radio and record companies have no idea what to do with her - she's so versatile they can't put her into a box - Pop? Jazz? Soul? R&B? Classical? Musical Theater? Adult Contemporary? Big Band? Opera? Since they can't pigeon-hole her, you don't hear her on the radio. And you've got to get lots of radio air time to go along with sales to make it to the Grammys, not to mention plenty of behind-the-scenes politics, which she refuses to play.

I know this is a few years old now, but every time i hear this, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. An amazingly powerful and emotional voice. She throws such power into her performance. Absolutely love her.

Blessed with a truly amazing voice
Wow, everytime I am blessed to hear Morgan sing I get so emotional, does not matter what song she sings I can feel it in my soul way down there, never has been anyone to make feel the way she does, it's like you can feel her soul and connect to it ,and man does she have a SOUL
Initially, I was annoyed with the crowd noise, but then remembered that at the PMJ concert/show I attended, the band was always encouraging the crowd to sing, dance, or connect with the music in any way that felt real. Not easy to turn that vibe off quickly. MJ never ceases to amaze. Her rendition (w/PMJ) of Aerosmith's "Dream On" brings tears to my eyes.

Saw this show June 23, 2015 at Club Nokia in LA. Loved it all but Morgan James was stellar in "Take me to Church". I've watched numerous TH-cam videos of her performing that and they are always great, but for about a two month period she was in an amazing groove. This is an example of that period.
Thank God you were not good in math or we would have not had Morgan James ! You are divine...

It is so annoying when people go to see/hear a musician/singer and then talk through the entire performance. They are so self-absorbed that they don't realize how they ruin things for others and how offensive it is to the performer. Fantastic voice. Her collaborations with Haley Reinhart are spectacular.
