Amazing footage, some spectacular stills and great and valuable photography notes and specific strategies. Thank you so much for sharing your work, experience, and passion for birds and photography!
Beautiful bird species and place. Great advice re positioning and working with sun light. As always the behaviours you capture are fascinating. Thank you!
I like that you don’t just talk about photography, but also about taking the time to observe behavior. Turning over the leaves, eating salmon eggs, the caddisfly. All great. Thanks for sharing.
Being based in the northern New England states, I never get to see dippers so this video was a treat. Such a cool bird and so much creative potential with their behavior diving under water. Thanks again for making these high-quality videos!
Nice work and narration. I had the opportunity to photograph dippers last fall in the Front Range of Colorado. A neat bird and a ton of fun to work with.
What an amazing part of the world, thank you for sharing your videos and images. I always enjoy learning how you get the photo and ability to capture birds’ natural behavior. Your channel is criminally underappreciated, views should be 10x-100x!
Great, Gerrit. Thanks much for the photo tips as well as the beautiful images and video. You showed the birds interacting with the dead salmon from time to time. Do you think they were picking small insects, etc. off the carcasses?
Thanks for another excellent video. Interesting to see the dipper behavior. I'm wondering if some of the video clips could be shown in slow motion, for example the clip at around 6:30.
Great vlog as usual Gerrit. They are a dynamic bird aren't they. In the UK ours are our only aquatic songbird, do you have more in the US/Canada? Our European Dipper or White-throated dipper is a very challenging bird to expose for to photograph, as it resides in identical habitat to yours, but is tricky to expose due to the dark brown plumage, and bright white chest plumage!
I love your videos because every single word provides information. a pure stream of 100% quality (and accurate) information, thank you again
Thank you very much!!

Thanks, I saw one peck g at a salmon a bit but for the most part they stuck to the fresh stuff!

Sure thing! I shot everything at 24 FPS this day. I’ll shoot some higher frame rates and slow a few things down next time!

It is our only representative in N. America. There are a couple of additional dippers in South America as well.
