I pulled the hydraulic tank. We have a crane and there are only a few hyd hoses. My trans was so covered in old dirt and oil I had to take an air chisel to get to the bolt heads.

Looks like I’m gonna have to pull my transmission out of my 310j also. Did you use a cherry picker through the floor to lower it or did you use a trans jack?

I have a 410j and the second speed clutch didnt work. There were a few pieces of metal at the screen. The snap ring fell out of the grove where the cluch broke. First issue with the transmission with 7300 hrs

Why is oil leaking from the side of the combitor? What could be the problem? I have a John Deere 310L with that problem

    Hi
What oil is best in transmission? 10/30 or 15/40?

Man I’m getting ready to go look at a 310j, now I’m kinda nervous about it. It has over 4K hours

On this transmission there is a common issue where it loses second and fourth gear. I have a 2012 310J with 3600 hours and it has no 2nd or 4th speeds. I checked solenoids they seam ok. I was told by Deere dealer there is a known issue with a snap ring coming off internally on the shaft coming off the clutch pack that causes this problem, or the clutch is worn. Did you take apart the clutch on yours or notice if there was a snap ring holding the clutch assembly together? I am trying to understand more about what this issue may be. Not looking forward to dropping this trans either!

This machine must have been a rental and someone must have busted it hence the Chinese parts. I don't know the history. It all looked new inside, all the gears worked before the pump failed and they are workicine now. I just play with it around the airport. Not sure if I would want to try making a living with it. Good luck with yours. Wish someone had of told me to let it hang down a bit more than the instructions in the manual to get at the bellhousing bolts. Cheers

Thanks, for such big machines these certainly lack a feeling of confidence and assurance. I feel like trans or electronics could fail at any point. I have been left hanging with parking brake stuck on or no gears due to failing relays/solenoids, I agree would not want to make a living with one of these. I think I will finish my projects and sell it.
