Mr. Cyclone was around in the original ECHL days. He retired in '94 because of knee problems (at least that's what he told me at a special game where he came back). The NHL affiliates are just the ones since the Cyclones came back in '06. There were others between 1990 and 2006. During one of the arena renames in the mid-to-late 90s for what's now HBC, there were also two arena mascots (a lion and something else, but I don't remember much). There are actually multiple heads, shoes/skates, and people for Twister. The main person behind the mascot is the one that does the head slides and has the oversized shoes. When someone else is filling in, the shoes are different. Unfortunately, Twister no longer does the head slides because the head used for it has become too tattered and the team has deemed a replacement too expensive. I believe that the team has said on social media that Puckchop is a girl, but don't remember when or which platform. My favorite will always be Mr. Cyclone, but I've loved Snowbird and Twister so much too. I despised the arena mascots and Puckchop, but Puckchop has grown on me. I do think that my dislike was from the fear of her replacing Twister. Great video!
Twister is one of my absolute favorite mascots, not just in minor league hockey, but all of hockey period! I've been to a few Cyclones games but only once in Cincinnati. Twister was outstanding, though - we got a picture together and he even threw a T-shirt right to me!!! I'm hoping to make a few games this season because Twister still hasn't seen my recent custom jersey that I got - YEP I own two TWISTER F5 jerseys, one of the current modern design and one of the retro black/yellow/red version from when the team won those championships in the 2000's. I can't wait to see his reaction! Great video and great to learn their history. Keep up the great work!
This was very nicely done. I am a born and bled Cyclones fan and this was awesome. Snowbird was iconic he was around when I was born was a shame when he left but Twister has been a mainstay since until Puckchop came along. this was nice
Another cool history video based on a team in my hometown. I’ve never been to the Cincinnati Cyclones games, but my school had a couple of field trips there. Great video. :)
I got to hug puckchop at the last cyclones game I went to before moving out of Ohio ❤ so many great memories! Thank you for making this video, it makes a homesick ohioian happy
i must be a horrible Cincinnatian - i know of Snowbird (great character and yeah - having you're own personal hot tub in the stands is pretty freaking sweet!), i know of Twister (the guinness world record was a surprise!)... that said - i did NOT know of Puck Chop (?!?!). Grant its been quite a while since i've gone to a game - but i hadn't even seen him in the last couple of mascot broomball tournaments, but there you go!
"I don't know who would be stupid enough to think a team would change their name to the corndogs. That doesn't make much sense." Considering there's a hockey team called the Minnesota Mullets I don't think corndogs sounds so bad... no I'm not joking. There is literally a team called the Mullets... look it up the logo is incredibly weird.
Do a history video on CEC in Riverside, CA please. I've been a fan since October 28th 2020 ( in the Coronavirus era ) im sad it was changed to the CANCERIOUS 2.0 AND ITS STUPID DANCE FLOOR And It Is SOOOOooooo garbage, that i wished they went BANKRUPTED and change it back to the most Loving, Life Changing, and most importantly Iconic Animatronics ( Specifficily a Chuck E Cheeses Animatronics ) in CEC's History.
Fun Fact, The Iowa Heartlanders (Which is another ECHL team) has an NHL affiliate called the Minnesota Wild. Also, The Cyclones has the New York Rangers as an affiliate for the NHL.
That video was awesome and I cannot believe that this video came from the minds of two autistic people and that is alone impressive and I’m saying this is someone who is on the spectrum myself Nathan coming from an autistic I hope you’re doing well
Don't understand why teams are against using pre-existing mascots. I understand copyright. But it would save time to have a mascot that already exists and is popular but also have something to do with that team.
TH-cam tip, copyrighted music is a way to lose your earned revenue. Even short snippets are likely to get noticed automatically. Find royalty free alternatives, a common favorite is stuff from Kevin MacLeod. It was an appropriate song choice, but that’s how it is. Sending love from cincy.

Also, Snowbird is a Junco, Not a Penguin.
