      No. I mean the condiment King. And Batman the Animated Series he was one of the judges in the comedy show that The Joker crashed. The Joker took control of his mind by using one of the Mad Hatter's ship card things and turned him into a joke of a villain called the condiment King. In Young Justice you don't see the condiment King but The Outsiders had to fight the condiment King and Beast Boy sprains his arm

About how a part of Batman TAS's greatness was not limiting itself solely to comics or source material and actually creating their own original characters and succeeding greatly. Some of these characters were really good. Tyger was probably my favorite original character. There were alot of originals
    Harley ( most notable character created for the show. resonated so well that she ended up in the comics and a house hold name and a face that's everywhere you turn)

      I agree. I love the old Harley and the the new one. Yea I get that they didn’t want her to to look like she was only reliant on the Joker, etc, but that’s what gave her charm. I almost thought you weren't going to mention Adam West when talking about grey ghost (which would have been a crime), and even when you did mention him it was only to say that he voiced the character.
    The Grey Ghost IS Adam West
    Grey Ghost was the story of an actor(Adam West) who played an iconic character, and though the actor could never get free of his old role he inspired new generations

      I like her in Harley Quinn. It gives her character progression that we rarely saw in the animated shows outside the one episode where she is on parole and just trying to live her life. She's no longer this head over heals twisted person that bends to Joker's will. She starts to remember who she was before him and meshes both parts of herself.

    • @lynjs
      @lynjs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I don't like this new Harley either. I call her Streetwalker Harley because that is what she looks like. The Original Harley had depth. You didn't know if you were going to get a simple pie in your face or a pie with acid in the face. Everyone saw her as harmless. They often underestimated her. World's Finest when she and Mercy Graves were fighting while Lex and Mr. J were talking that was classic. Bruce Timm and his crew knew how to do those animated shows well.

      The new Harley Quinn also, mostly thanks to suicide squad, has made some fan girls think of Harley and Joker as a happy, functional couple which, of course is completely the opposite. I think the abusive relationship between them has been severely downplayed in later years, even though that's what makes Harley a much more sympathetic villain than the rest of the rouges gallery. At best Harley should be in a relationship with Ivy with Joker constantly trying to kill her for leaving him

      I've never liked the thing about Poison Ivy falling in love with Harley. We're talking about a supervillain who wants to take the brunt of all of humanity (why would she care about a mentally unstable girl with a fetish for a specific green-haired clown in a purple suit).
      That Harley and Poison Ivy would be a cute love couple just feels like a tiring way to satisfy snowflakes who do not even read the comics as well as teenage boys who just want masturbation substitutes.

    What is actually interesting is how television developed the character of the Riddler. Originally, he was little more than a poor man's version of the Joker, and then we got Frank Gorshin's parody of Kirk Douglas in the 60s TV series, which marked his personality for the next 20 years.
    But when the Bat Villains got more nasty in the 80s, the Riddler got left behind. No one seemed to know what to do with him until the animated series recreated him in the episode "If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich," which turned him into the guy who has to be the smartest man in the room and needs to prove it every time. That gave him an edge he never really had, and the additional virtual reality interests they added in later episodes established him as a true villain in his own right.
    If it wasn't for the TV shows, Riddler would have been abandoned years ago.

    • @SSingh-nr8qz
      @SSingh-nr8qz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      THANK YOU! I am 42 years old and still remember the line of "if you are so smart, why aren't you rich?" line. That is a very powerful commentary on society. The whole concept that you can be smart or hardworking and end up valued less than other people because they know the right people. He to me really was very similar to the Joker. While the Joker is an agent of Chaos trying to break society free in his own messed up way, The Riddler was trying to prove to the world that intellect should be respected rather than many mindless things we worship.

    Renee Montoya first appeared in Pretty Poison, but actually debuted in comics first as comics take less time to produce than episodes do. However she wasn’t named until the episode P.O.V. in which herself, a rookie, and Harvey Bullock had tell a police lieutenant their sides of why a bust went wrong. That show really created a lot of great characters.

    I’m pretty sure the design of the Karl Rossum character who created HARDAC was based on William Sanderson who voiced the role. He played a similar role in Blade Runner as JF Sebastian.

    So happy baby doll finally gets a recognition by a TH-camr. She’s just a great and original villain, and ‘Baby doll’ is one of my favorite BTAS episodes. I’m alaways dissapointed that this episode doesn’t appear in any of the ‘Top 10 BTAS’ lists

    Honorable mentions to Calendar Girl from the episode Mean Seasons. Yes, she's a variant of Calendar Man but her one episode appearance made her an interesting character that was distinct from Calendar Man, especially when it was revealed how psychologically damaged she is.
