    1. You can't commit to something that is out of your control.
    2. Arrival Fallacy ------- The moment we get what we want, we can find ourselves even more unsatisfied than when we started.
    3. Impact Bias ---------- Things don't feel as good or as bad as we think they will.
    4. Intention---------------- Why do I want to do this? Why doea it matter? Why is it worth my incredibly limited time on this earth?
The purpose of an intention is to BE reather than to BECOME.
    5. Success is not measured by whether or not I accomplish a goal, but whether or not the goal supports my grater intention.
    6. In this way, all effort counts. There is no failure, just feedback.

Setting my intentions first helped me clarify my goals that relate to each intention: Make my home a sanctuary, make the world better for others, and challenge myself in numerous ways. This is so much better than my normal resolutions.

Hello from a random stranger on the internet! I loved the intention you shared - so much meaningfulness captured in your words, thank you! I wrote it down in my journal to inspire my own intention-setting process.

I am finding your ideas very much aligned with how I'm feeling during a transition period in life (into an empty nester) and appreciate the clarity with which you present your ideas in these videos. I've been reading your book repeatedly since it was published, always finding something new. This is an exciting journey---thank you! Oh, and my intention is to be guided by compassion more than attention, if that makes sense. 😉

This is one of the best summaries and explanations I’ve ever listened to. Truly inspirational, especially for those of us who are constantly looking at self-improvement and feeling like we’re going round in circles sometimes. I LOVE listening to videos Ryder, thank you 🙏

These messages are processing inside of me at the moment. I start a bullet journal for the x-time. I always wanted it to look pretty and nice and it never felt perfect enough. Now I will start with setting an intention and see how things develop. I will go with the flow. Thank you Ryder! 🥰

As I listened I felt you embody what you are teachng. I realized art has allowed me to get in touch with the flow . I loved your line our goal must support our greater intention. While I teach art and want to get better at delivering it to my clients my greater intention is to ignite in my beloveds a passion for art that allows them to feel fully alive.

This is so helpful. Every time I was asked to set an intention, I would panic slightly. I get it now. It's a "be" statement. I'm adopting "I commit to this process" as my default intention. I'm excited to work on this more.

Just one intention for 2025 and, at the same time, for the start of my BuJo practice: to be a good full-time psychologist and to be able to leave the consulting practice in corporate finance, which is my first professional career. Thank you, Ryder, for all the knowledge you share with us; and for the material and conceptual tools you have designed to support us in the pursuit of personal and organizational success, without neglecting our well-being. 👍👍👍

I’m curious for those of you who practice bullet journaling - how do you go through goal (hypothesis) setting and plan development and tracking in your journal? I’m guessing this is something best managed as a collection, but not having done it myself yet, I’d love to learn what others are doing. Thanks! 😃

I want my BuJo practice to help me bring a sense of control and focus on my priorities. I am sometimes over-ambitious; no, I am over-ambitious in my thoughts, but I do not achieve them all, which irritates me. I am trying to tell myself I can do it and not just say things. I am more of a doer.

Goals are experiments to see if they fulfil my intentions. My intentions are who I want to BE.
From now on, I will write down my goals in this format: Will doing/having/reaching X help me be Y?
This is my take-home points from your video. Thank you for your insight, Ryder.

Personally, my intention was to use self-reflection to gain self-awareness, and in self-awareness, gain more personal growth. Sometimes I can write for hours without prompt, but some days, I'm stuck without ideas of what to write. Here are just suggestions of common search terms I use to look for thought provoking things to write about as an intention.
    1. Journal prompts
    2. Writing prompts
    3. Poetry prompts
    4. Journal prompts for self discovery.
    5. Journal prompts for mental health
    6. List of philosophical questions
    7. Questions to ask in a deep conversation
    8. Quotes about (any category you choose here)
    9. Gratitude journal prompts
    10. Journal questions on race/gender/sexuality/ethnicity/age (or any other major identity)
    11. Career journal prompts
    12. Fitness/nutrition/health journal prompts
    13. Spiritual/religious journal prompts (If that personally resonates with you)
    14. (Insert hobby here) journal prompts
    15. List of affirmations
    16. Journal prompts for self reflection
    17. Journal prompts for students
    18. Journal prompts for kids
    19. Journal prompts for teens/young adults
    20. Journal prompts for adults
    21. Journal prompts for seniors
    22. Journal prompts for personal growth
    23. Journal prompts for healing
    24. Journal prompts for grieving/loss
    25. Journal prompts for self love
    26. Journal prompts for relationships
    27. List of lists to make.
    28. Art journal prompts.
    29. Visual journal prompts

      I can try.
Resolution: Having more followers on my professional insta account
      Goal: 2k followers until July
Intention: I believe in my product, it would make people's life more mindful
Plan: Let's experiment by posting one video per week.
      Do you see the difference?

WOW! THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WHEN MY ESSENTIAL SELF FEELS THAT THAT SO ELUSIVE LIGHT IS NOW NOT ONLY SEEN AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL, BUT IT LIGHTS THE ENTIRE PATH, WHICH ALLOWS ME TO SEE THE PATH I FOLLOW BETTER. THE WAY IN WHICH YOU HAVE SAID THE MESSAGE IS PERHAPS THE WAY THAT IN SOME WAY GAVE ME THE MEANING TO ESTABLISH MY NAVIGATION COURSE AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE ADVANTAGES THAT THE PATH TOWARDS MY GOAL HAS IN PLACE. THANK YOU, IT'S LIKE A SECOND WIND.👍

This is my fourth video on intention... and no one gives examples. What words are spoken? "My intention is to manifest ( )"? "I have the intention to have a big house"? THat would be goal, future. "I am now living in a big house" (even though I'm not)? I know I'm lying. What good is that? FYI-- "big house" is NOT something I want, just an example.

We'll add this to a list of possible video ideas, but perhaps this article can also offer another perspective and examples: bulletjournal.com/blogs/bulletjournalist/resolutions_vs_intentions

From my understanding, intentions r bigger,
"I have an intention to live in a place that brings me joy/make me comfortable"
Then u set a goal to reach that, by asking what goal will be a good step towards the intention.
It can even show u that may be what u need to be comfortable in ur place is not a big house with more space, maybe decluttering and minimalism will clear that space for u, or whatever
Buying a house is not an intention,it's a goal.
The intention is WHY u want the big house?! And it can be different for everyone, a father may not care about a big house but he knows that his kids and wife care, so he wanna do it to make THEM happy cuz that's what he wants thats his intention
