Great video, Matt Woods!!! Just wanted to say it's a perfect topic for collectors growing their collections! I'd like to trade someday but I'm still such a fan with what I have, even though it's a wide variety of titles. Most of all I wanted to comment to tell you Happy 4th of July, my brother!
Great discussion topic sir. I’ve been putting together a “trading” box myself. Full of books that are considered valuable but not as meaningful to me personally
Great video! It's very important to know where you stand with your collection. Watching this video has inspired me to create a list for trade. Thanks for sharing, Matt !
I’m glad that I could inspire someone that I view as a great collector. Bry’s Comics inspired me to do the same thing. We all need to understand what our ultimate goals are with our collection.
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Like you said, there are some books I just can't get rid of, and there are some that I could see myself trading for something else I really want. Sage advice, my friend. Have a great Fourth, Matt!
Happy 4th Caleb, we all have reasons that we collect and different motivation. It is wise to have specific goals in mind. What is our “Ultimate” goals.
@@MattWoodsComics you are both active and receptive comic community members who are welcoming and sharing your knowledge with us and I thank you for that
Great topic. While I've had several long boxes of comics that I'd thought I'd sell (some have become keys since I got them in the 80s and I should probably get them slabbed), most of them just wouldn't be worth the trouble to sell. However, someone might need some to complete a run or for their personal grail, and would make better candidates for trade. Something to consider. Thank you.
Just starting to get my collection going again after getting rid of 90% of it in 2010. Don’t know if I’m willing to part with any just yet 😆 But this is a Great tip for the future. Happy 4th Mr Woods
Awesome video as always!!! This was a very informative video!!! The Trade List is a damn good idea!!! And as far a Key Spidey I think you would be trading a complete Spawn run for could be AF15?!?🤔 But what ever it is, I can't wait to find out!!! Thanks for sharing Matt!!! Keep doin what you do!!! Have a great 4th brother!!! Appreciate you!!!👍👊🤙🇺🇸🍻
Poor Todd, I hope he takes the news well. But you are right, what are our goals? Do the books we have currently fit into our collection goals? Serious questions that need to be answered.
I’d love to trade for an Adventure Comics 247! My Teen Titans books are the only tradable items I have right now. Might be able to get a .5 or 1.0 graded book, but how do you find someone who specifically wants what I have and has the book I want?
That is the hard part. Finding someone willing to trade for what you have is the key. Trades don’t come easy that is why it is important to have a list of books you are willing to trade. When a potential trade opportunity co es about, if you already have a list, you can act quickly on a potential trade. Good luck on finding that book.
I’ve debated that question many times over the years. I’m close to completing a full run of ASM books. The collection would feel incomplete to have all of the ASM books an AF15 but missing the ASM 1. But, you never know,……. Thanks for the great comment, you are making me think about it.
Plain and simple too many collectors are not willing to part with some books for the bigger whale book. If your willing to get rid of filler books or not so big keys for the "Grail book" then you ask yourself who is gonna be dumb enough to to trade a huge key for books that are not gonna move as a investment book would.. I always say if your want a Grail then you need to bleed for one in order to get one if your gonna trade.. Soul for a soul
@@MattWoodsComics That would be a great book to have in the collection that one I wish i had and another 2 would be hulk 181 and first appearance of Batman
Happy 4th. Great to see you on video. Follow on IG. Targeted a couple SA mega-keys with reasonable trade offers but the community appears increasingly averse to such trades. With the sharp rise in grail values, many want straight cash and can’t say I blame them. Great info., Thanks!
Good to see you Jerry P! Trades are hard but not impossible. But the reason they are hard is because it takes two individuals that both believe that they are going more in value than what they are giving up. Most people I know don’t want to give a Silver Age Key for modern variant covers. So it is very important to have highly sought after books that you are willing to give up. Very substantial comment, thank you

So hard to figure out what books we are willing to part with. Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!
AF15 baby! Great minds think alike…thanks for the shoutout my friend!
Yep you know it. Someday I’ll leverage the collection to get an AF15.

I do agree with you, it is important to have Trade Boxes or lists that we are willing to part with.
We don't trade away the X-Men though, right John ;)

Wow! You nailed it! What a great way to focus on your collection. You and @regiecollects have a great grip on the PC

Great video and happy 4th Matt. My guess knowing how much u appreciate spawn you’re going to make it count. I say AF15 in a high grade.
It will take me years to get the Spawn Books graded and ready to sell. But when I do, I’ll make a run at AF 15
Yup AF15 and or ASM1, great video, something us collectors should be looking at.
The goal is to someday go after AF15. But that might not be for another 10 years. Long term goal.
Always great info on this channel.
I like to think that your channel is the one that passes down the knowledge.

You hit on a great point. There are so many ways to leverage our collections. Not every book has to be a giant key.
Great topic and idea, Matt. I have some books that I'd certainly willing to trade. Adding making a list to the "to do" list. AF 15???
I have too many “to do” lists myself. 👊

I am hoping to flip my Spawn Collection into an AF15. But that might not happen for 10 years or more. It is a long way off.

Here’s the real question! Would you be willing to include your copy of ASM 1 in a deal if it meant getting that copy of AF15?

I'll buy that spawn 174 'cgc 9.8.
Got that book the day it hit the shelves. Sent that off last year to CGC to be graded.

Lots of thoughts in that comment. Definitely have to be willing to give up at least equal value. But trades are hard to come by either way.
Not hard to come by like I said if it's the right book or books for the right book..
Well you already have ASM1, and I assume the full run so that leaves just AF15.
I wish I had a full run,… that full run is on my radar,.. but it is taking a back seat to another project that I have brewing right now.
I think batman adventures #12 will be a million dollar book in 30 to 50 years . Harley Quinn
I hope you are correct. The price of a 9.8 has just gone up very high on the last 10 years.
Amazing fantasy Spider-Man I’m thinking you don’t have
That is the book that I want! 😁👊
