One of the best overviews of the Model T I’ve ever seen. I really believe Jay is the most knowledgeable automotive historian in the world. Not an exaggeration .
I appreciate these videos with Donald and Jay so much. These two are walking encyclopedias of everything automotive. I would love to sit down over coffee with these two and just listen to their conversations. Both are national treasures in my humble opinion.
Very good video ... Wen I was 17 years old I answered an add in the news paper for an add that an older lady put for a car for sale in Chicago for $500 .. Me and my brother went to see what she had was a 1917 model t it had two functioning doors one on the passenger side front and the other door on the driver's side rear and the barn had a pit in the floor whitch the car was in on the passenger side .. We got the car out of the pit took it home with in a couple of days we had that car running .... I had the car for only a few years and sold it .... Lol I wish I still had it ... It was a joy to drive it ......
Jay you were in New Port can't wait to visit their car museum. I loving the model Ford model T. I would love to drive one along the ocean front in the beautiful Island of Newport. Keep this car alive.😊
I'm gonna own a Model T someday! Have read all the books, and enjoy YT content like this. I'm a motorcycle guy, but before I die, I'm agonna get one of those. You can't understand the U.S. or cars if you have never been in a Model T!!! (took a 5 dollar ride in one, at the H Ford museum in Dearbourne, MI. Peak experience.)
I really enjoy your videos, they're really aimed at genuine automotive enthusiasts. I really liked the Motorcars and Mansions series too. Thank you from Australia and New Zealand.
Excellent show and great guest. I'd love to talk about the past automotive history and its connection to New England. I'm sure Jay knows a lot about that being native to the area.
Thanks, nice overview of couple of T’s..... I learned to drive a “ CAR” on the RURAL roads of Noble/ Kosciusko Counties Indiana with a 28? FORD ( DAD had got it @$250.00 just after totally rebuilt in 1960(.?). Of course, many Farm kids Drove **tractors and Trucks** on Roads , if working at early ages ( me included), interestingly:supposedly THE original owner had installed FORD TRUCK,signals on fenders .. i drive a 1914 model T , in the Netherlands, the older T s has lots of room for big e tall people, ok, 2 in the front will make it "cozy" still lots of leg room, once you learn how to drive a T its extremely nice, even easy, it feels like sitting on the couch at home playing a video game, starting with a crank you have to learn, had a sore wrist, if your a big man it will not brake your arm, by a cold start, the gears can stick, crank it and it likes to jump at you, for a smaller person a good idea to put a block of wood in front of the wheel, i just push back, like i do with an unruly cow, took it off road too, amazing, the whole frame moves with the terrain, that is in the design, top speed is 75 km/h, not for the freeway, most parts are easy to get, the cars body is unrestored, i like it that way, what matters is, that the motor and such is in the best of shape, staying as original and safe as possible, those T s where used for everything, as tractor, as powerplant, in world war one the french army used them with tracks instead of wheels, the swedish did put them on skies, its even known to drive up stairways, in reverse it will do, didnt try yet, indeed the T is an amazing car,
Are you the gentleman who made a wonderful video about driving his T in the snow on a long trip? Its been quite a while since I saw the video...so I don't remember the title. I live in the USA since 1966, but I was born in Delft.

but the gas tank went to the front taking away the leg room in front, the bench cant move further back, big/tall dutch man here, did look at a 27 touring, no way, belly on steering wheel, legs ? where to put them ? ended up with a 1914, lots of room, very comfortable.....
I think people kept their cars in a garage or barn back in the day. They wouldn’t last long especially the open cars made of wood framing with sheet metal nailed on top.
Another great video. I had never heard of the Mennonite T before. Kind of makes you wonder who in Ford marketing came up with the idea, I can't imagine market was very large.
I read an article by a man who lived in Pennsylvania during the fifties. He said the Mennonite kids won all the stoplight drag races. Why? Mennonites bought 58 Chevys with zero options, no heater, no carpet only rubber floor mat, three on the tree and a 348. Light and fast!
Love the car and the history behind it! Please correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Baker electric cars cater their vehicles to women as well. Was Ford the first to market to women? Please keep these videos coming.

Minor correction Jay but Beta wasn’t entirely clearly better then VHS in all aspects. While initially it had a somewhat superior picture quality it only got 1 hour of recording time per tape (Beta 1). VHS had 2 hours of recording time per tape out of the gate (in standard play or SP mode) but also had slightly worse picture quality. Beta then fixed this with Beta II which double the recording time in SP mode but as a result lowered the picture quality to around VHS standards. This all meant that Beta and VHS competed more on others features throughout the 80s rather picture quality such as extended recording modes like SLP, slow motion playback, freeze frame, stereo sound, etc until Beta throw in the towel in the late 80s. Yes, VHS did beat Beta, partly by flooding the market with VHS VCR’s do to a very unrestricted licensing scheme for the standard by JVC, its inventor.

Who doesn't like a T? ...and everyone has a story about one. Your T in this video is a beautiful example of a mostly original car, I like it! But please use care in your presentation, many folks today don't know much about automobile history, so when you speak about Model T facts in this video, many folks may think it applies to 1925 (the year of your car). Much of what you said was more relevant at the birth of the Model T in late-1908, but not so much in 1925. In 1925, the T was horribly outdated and obsolete, and Henry's refusal to replace it was about to sink the entire Ford Motor Car Company. Fortunately Edsel Ford came along to save the day, but that's a story for another time.
Horace and John Dodge were Henry's partners in the early days. Many T parts were made by the Dodge Brothers, and most of them are identified by a "DB" cast or stamped into the part. The two brothers and Henry didn't get along very well, so they sold their Ford shares and used the money to start the Dodge Brothers Motor Car Company in 1914. I've owned 2 early DB's, and once you drive one, you would never go back to a T.
