@@Lornext I agree. I very much appreciate what the OG node or node with D were able to deliver, but remembering the gold ol days and have a place to come back to is one thing, knowing that the same group is still out there trying to bring out similar content is another. I'm not hating on the corridor takeover node lineup tho. They were doing a decent job keeping the channel from going under. Well, at least D is now back in charge of the channel and that's enough to make me happy.
Coming back just to say that Freddie saying “Terrence Probe” has stuck with me for so long. I have no idea why, anytime something is abbreviated with a T. it’s all I think of.
VCore is originally V(subscript)core, which is a way of denoting where that voltage is from. You can usually see this in IC Datasheets, along with other stuff like Vcc, Vss, etc.
will this let me watch porn at 1000fps? because im currenty running my pc at .001 GHz, my cooling system is an ice pack and a bottle of Gatorade at room temperature
you guys should do more videos like, this. I felt amused and educated at the same time. I literally LOL'd at the end when you talked about overclocking a family computer. XD
I would go for it. Make sure you run a prime95 stress test for a couple hours to test initial stability your overclock. If it crashes or you get errors, tweak some settings and test again. If it passes the 2 hour test and you're happy with the overclock, continue to run the test for 24-48 hours to verify complete stability.
Niko really knows what he is doing. All i did to my 3570K was give it 1.192 volts and set it to 4.2ghz (apart from memory frequency - xmp, fan speeds and stuff).
Basically, frames per second is how smooth something runs. If you run very high frames per second, then it will look very natural. Slow motion can be done when you take a high frame-per-second video, and slow it down, so it keeps around the same frames per second as the rest of the video. It needs the higher fps original video to stay natural-looking.
Watching this video in 2017 made me realize how fast technology evolve, a normal i7 7700k not overclocked is 4.0 already and in 2012 going 4.0 it's like super cool and shit
Home studio setup in the background. you guys should do a video on that, if you havent already. there are quite a few guys like me who wonder how you guys go about doing audio for your videos (Corridor Digital). =)
Do you need liquid cooling when you overclock to 4.2 or will a heatsink take care of it for you? Also what wattage PSU is suggested for that range of overclocking on an i5?
I so wanna be that guy sitting at his computer playing Battlefield 3 at 200 frames per second on Ultra high settings whilst the entire house burns in the flames of hell.
Mm. Very great news that you got it running! Bet it took a lot longer than expected haha! Though I'm sure you find it very rewarding knowing what makes up your computer and knowing how to put it together.
3dmark11 with a desktop gtx 580: 6650 marks. 3dmark11 with a gtx 680m: 6560 marks. One of the prettiest monitors out there with a skinny all in one design. Near silent operation too even with a desktop i7 chip.
If you plan on gaming, you do need a good graphics card. The processor calculates the game physics, interactions, NPCs, etc. Usually, this is actually a relatively low amount of work for the processor. The graphics card is what actually allows the game to run at the framerate that it does. Because of that, as long as the CPU is good enough, the graphics card is usually the most important part of a gaming computer. So really, if you want to game, a good graphics card is a must.
It kinda' looks like a bunch of rouge space marines found an abandoned interstellar cruiser, and now the captain (Niko) is just ordering the on-deck technician (Sam) on random engine settings.
First step, figure out if your motherboard has an overclocking utility then if your cooling fan/device is capable of taking the extra wattage of heat coming from the cpu. Then look up instructions for the specific cpu, next look up the ones for the motherboard. Next go to bios----then what they did
If you don't mind me asking, what is your specific job title and where do you work? I don't know exactly how to explain it other than I love the hardware and building aspect of computers, specifically custom. And I really want to get into the field, in fact it's mainly what I'm striving for, just gettin ready to graduate and wouldn't mind any bit of advice you could muster. Thank you
Some extreme workstation laptops can run a whole bunch of cores(6, 8, 12, I've even seen one with dual 16-core processors). You probably won't see them on the consumer market, though
I watch this video every year just to reminisce on how simple life used to be. Or whatever.
I'm watching this in 2024 for the first time.
I literally just watched them overclock their computer. This is how much I like watching Node videos.
So tempting to actually do the Overclock Birthday... -Brandon
"Somethings wrong, I can't run... I think I'm in a cutscene."
Message at top of screen informs us that he is over-encumbered
"12 windows of minecraft simultaneously running" That would end my computer.
The year is 2020. Node is still hanging but nothing like this no more.
rip
Yeah Node is kinda just, meh now
Went downhill after D and Brandon left
I guess it's about the journey, not the destination. At least all the videos from back in the day are still here.
@@Lornext I agree. This is the best node video. The dry humor is so good.
Coming back just to say that Freddie saying “Terrence Probe” has stuck with me for so long. I have no idea why, anytime something is abbreviated with a T. it’s all I think of.
I love how honest they are. "do you know what you're doing?" "Not really."
It's crazy how the computers are ancient by now, but all that music stuff is still just as good as it was.
man the whole node crew is great, miss these older videos
"Less talk, More clock!" My favorite quote to date.
Niko seems like such a nice guy
Freddie saying hes on the edge of his seat while being the most slouched was hilarious.
Less Talk, More Clock.
i failed my overclock, now my quad core is only a dual core...
My heart goes out to you and your family.
i bough a hex core to replace it :D
StealerOfSoles RIP wallet
Hex core amd is only like £70 is not that bad for p;rice to performance
LOL is it possible?! I fucking laugh my ass off
200 fps? worth it.
i miss the 4 of them all making videos together:/
I like to go back to old videos every now and then just to appreciate everyone’s growth and development.
This video is gonna be 10 years old soon wow...
"They have one last beautiful moment when they're playing battlefield 3 at like 200 Frames Per Second and they die in the flames"
XD
They should do more overclocking videos
"We just read things and think about them.", LMAO!
Overclocking birthday sounds like a hilarious idea

Am I the only one who thinks Sam looks/reminds you of the electrician guy from Orange is the New Black?
TrakGreedyMH nope i think it too
iPunchLeauge phew! people can't deny this lol
***** Yeah, just a, sort, bigger version of CP xD
I MISS YOU FREDDIE!!!!!
Who else only knew Overclocking through Futurama?
"12 windows of minecraft. Simultaneously running." -Sam
Why do I always come back to old node videos every 6 months
will this let me watch porn at 1000fps?
because im currenty running my pc at .001 GHz, my cooling system is an ice pack and a bottle of Gatorade at room temperature
lol
LOL I laughed so Hard at this!
You are carrying too many GHz to run. Maximum Clock Reached Without Voiding Warrenty: 1.3 GHz
What?
TheEpicRanger6 god dammit how did I miss that lol hahaha
hahaha, never laughed so hard while watching someone oc a pc xD
'I'm like on the edge of my seat."
*Lying back*
Man, these guys are so much fun, they make even reconfiguring your BIOS entertaining..
Eat my quad core 1.5 GHz AMD A4-5000!
Eat my Dual core 1.6 - 2.6 Ghz Intel Core i5-4200U
David Ekberg-Persson eat my 4700k
David Ekberg-Persson Yeah but yours is dual core
Eat my amd sempron 2.2 ghz single core!
CyberJellos i feel your pain as I had an Celeron 560...
hey can you overclock my pc?! It got really slow since I installed windows 8 on it. It has a pentium 3, 128 mb ram and 20 gig hdd :3

I think that the "Less talk, more clock" Is a refrence to the Guitar hero 2 song Freddie won with in the world series "Less talk, more rokk".
No joke. He was using a HD 7970 with a i5 2500k. Both were overclocked a small amount.
Niko really knows what he is doing. All i did to my 3570K was give it 1.192 volts and set it to 4.2ghz (apart from memory frequency - xmp, fan speeds and stuff).
7:44 I loved that show!

"Overclock birthday"? I would be up for that XD
this is mindblowingly interesting and hilarious at the same time.
Thanks for the advice, i was considering doing so but i started leaning away from it. Good to hear that 40 people agree with you.
i can see me like 7 years ago.... so nice setups guys, keep on. and my "bonjour" to everyone
This is sooo much the way I first tried overclocking, just enter the bios and mess around :)
Watching this video in 2017 made me realize how fast technology evolve, a normal i7 7700k not overclocked is 4.0 already and in 2012 going 4.0 it's like super cool and shit
"What would you do if your computer did catch fire?"
"Fire extinguisher would do the trick."
Watching in 2022, 10 years later
Lol xD " 12 windows of minecraft running" that fucken destroyed me I can't even watch the rest of the video OH LAWD xD
"Less talk, more clock". Freddie Wong November 16, 2012.
This feels like a crossover between NASA and CTU.
Home studio setup in the background. you guys should do a video on that, if you havent already. there are quite a few guys like me who wonder how you guys go about doing audio for your videos (Corridor Digital). =)
Freddie: "I'm on the edge of my seat." In actuality leaning back arms crossed like a Wong
Only these guys can make a 12 minute video about overclocking and make it funny.
We're taking a one way trip to the bios!
Mm. Very great news that you got it running! Bet it took a lot longer than expected haha! Though I'm sure you find it very rewarding knowing what makes up your computer and knowing how to put it together.

what headsets and mics are they using? it has the node logo

I'm panicing right now of how fast that frikken cmptr is XD
It's for that peace of mind, knowing that you can run at 100 fps if you weren't vsynced.
Such a fantastic video.
Instead of manually adjusting the clocks, that motherboard is compatible with something called AITweeker which overclock for you.
By the way, for those of you who don't know, Overclockers was an old Freddiew vid. :D
Wow, what a nostalgic feeling
What headset is that? I know it's an astro but and it looks like the A40 to be but I didn't think the A40 would be wired.
Where did you get those settings from, Niko?
"running @ 100%, increasing to 120%.
nice that's what I like to hear" LOL
Niko: know how to stress our computer?
Freddie: CRYSIS!
Niko: no pi.
It kinda' looks like a bunch of rouge space marines found an abandoned interstellar cruiser, and now the captain (Niko) is just ordering the on-deck technician (Sam) on random engine settings.
GTX 680. They had a video where they were building the entire system, which includes them listing all of the specs.
What's the website you got the directions from?
What site was Niko using to reference the overclocking information?
10:50 Somebody is playing Gmod in the background...at first it sounds like HL2 but then you hear the spawn menu sounds :P
Fucking love these types of computing videos.
First step, figure out if your motherboard has an overclocking utility then if your cooling fan/device is capable of taking the extra wattage of heat coming from the cpu. Then look up instructions for the specific cpu, next look up the ones for the motherboard. Next go to bios----then what they did
Okay, thank you so much for your advice, I'll give it a swing.
When you open your computer, hit like F1, or F2, you'll see it. Sometimes its escape
Do you guys have an online shop where I can buy NODE stuff?
I laughed so hard at the end, I want them to overclock every computer in my house
My liquid cooled 3770k is clocked at 4.7 and stays in the low 70s under load. I like it.
thanks! thats actually great
Still my favorite node video.
Did he just say to lower the voltage at maximum load? Enjoy the crashes, guys! :D
Freddie: but wont that just delete your computer?
"delete your computer"
i suppose i'm out of luck with my higher powered laptop. would i need a laptop cooler thingy to handle overclocking?
Is there website to tell you to set your settings optimized for your computer?
Freddie loves the clock.
Niko Pueringer, 2012
Freddie loves the clock
freddie loves the clock
It's because if you are recording in Fraps, the program forces you to turn on V-Sync. Otherwise, your video would have inconsistent framerates.
