Hello friends, in today's one light studio setup, we are using my xplor 400pro to light my subject. It is my main light and being modified with a new umbrella I just purchased. I am using the translucent 7'parabolic from westcott. It is a very versatile modifier and produces very very soft light.
If you are looking for a modifier that basically give you a lot of variety and still be suitable for shooting a variety of subjects and also produce a variety of light quality, then you can have a look at this shoot through umbrella.

Great video brother. Love the translucent modifier and you know im a moody/dramatic lighting type of guy so the negative fill added some great contrast!
Glad you liked it bro! Yh I loved that too. Very soft flattering light balanced with a bit of negative fill for more depth just makes the image more dynamic.

Umbrellas tend to spill light everywhere and considering how large this is, you can imagine the spread lol.
Every modifier has its quality. Knowing them will help you choose a modifier that will suit a particular look/feel

Hey bro question, the gray bars on the back of the lcd after each pic is taken, that's a 4:3 crop I'm guessing you use that as a IG guideline? If yes, how does it translate to instagram's actual 4:5 crop?
Hey bro! Yes I use it to help be keep my most important composition in check. It’s quite close to IGs ratio so even with the guides on my camera, I still tend to shoot a little wider than necessary cus I still crop in a bit more for IG.

Hold on you have more than one light here!!! You have a light directed at the white roof which is bounced towards the model aswell which also plays a big part in the shoots.
That is ambient light for the video. If you pay attention, you'd notice his exposure just before he started shooting. He made sure to eliminate the ambient light, making sure the strobe was the only light affecting the image.
