GEC's are no doubt nice and I have a half dozen or so but with Rosecraft you get the same quality and I think better steel for a fraction of the cost of GEC.
That Nolichucky jack looks interesting to me. I can honestly say that I've never had a rosecraft knife. That one just intrigues me. Enjoy my friend. Have a wonderful day today
Thanks for showing this one! This knife was snapped up fast, but luckily we have more coming in May. Btw, the Obed is Micarta rather than G10. It's just polished Micarta, which throws people sometimes.
I watched your video and you peaked my interest. I pulled the trigger and just got mine. You were spot on about the quality of this piece. You earned my subscription and Rosecraft has earned my respect and a new collector. This piece is amazing.

That Yellow Rose is getting a couple rust spots, you might want to get after that sooner than later. This Rose Craft is probably one of my favorites so far. Thanks for sharing.
I like the vintage moss color. I wish they’d put long pulls on both sides. Too bad I’m done with slipjoints. Maybe if they release a gray bone version of the Loosahatchie I’ll pick one up. Thanks for the video, Doody.
It might have been a bit flippant, but I needed to open and cut something one handed and with only a slipjoint I couldn’t do it so it pissed me off 🤷♀️ I gave slipjoints a decent run with a good one, a Feelgood Jack, but I traded it thereafter that experience.
@@ElCapAddictDo what I do - carry a modern folder (or two with a belly blade & a straight edge) & a slipjoint of one style (or both 🤌) and enjoy the slip when you can without sacrificing your efficiency when you need it. Also, not a bad idea to carry a fixed blade for messy tasks so it's easy as it can be to clean & get back to life. Also, consider bringing a dark blade for use while outside in the sun so it's least reflective as possible so it doesn't scream to everyone that you have something to look at in your hand, & then maybe the slip can be petite-ish & polished to help with non-knife people not freaking out indoors in that situation. ~ Cheers 🤙
They look nice. I have honestly started giving case some money. That razor pattern is speaking to me. I don’t have much experience with them so fingers crossed mine come decent lol. Should get the single blade antique bone razor in the mail soon. That olive green bone rosecraft looks very nice though.
Personally, as someone with hands on the shmedium side, I find myself wanting the belly/tip ratio to be more similar to the loosahatchie jack. I am thinking about grabbing one, once I'm back into work (just got fired for bogus reasons & I'm not going to try & fight about it) but I worry that the handle will reach my wrist & prevent me from leveraging the tip as optimally as could be. This might be a solid one for others with larger hands than mine. 😅 Looking forward to the cut test.
Do you know what I've seen some pocket knives costing quite a few hundred pound and I own quite a few of them and I see the new one from Rosecroft more Chucky Jack is that right I props can't say it properly and I had to have it because it looks so nice and now I've got it is the bees bullocks I am sure you know what I mean it looks better than my others
Can I fix side play on a slip joint? So I noticed my rosecraft was starting to not be centered. I checked it out and it has developed left/right blade play. I haven’t been hard using just cutting some cactus. Lefty suggested hitting up rosecraft but I’m not sure I wanna send in a $60 knife to get fixed. I’d rather just use it till it bites the dust. Can I just pinch it together?
Man. I just want to live rosecraft it’s just that one thing that doesn’t give me that good feeling. Any other foreign country like Japan, Taiwan,Italy obviously USA I would and so would everybody else be going crazy and I’m sure like they say they would love to be in the USA but I can also bet they just say that because no way they could sell these for that price if not built in China. I own a couple of Civivis but that it on the China front. Just hard to find quality slip joints and GEC is about it. Case has gone to absolute crap unfortunately so it’s nice to see rose craft doing it. It’s just that thing. 😢
I’ve never rusted d2 in my life, so I couldn’t really say what would happen in a super humid environment. If you keep them oiled and clean you should be fine
As someone who has rusted aus-10, D2, K390, & 3V with normal carry from working outside, I can tell you that you should grab a lip gloss vial & fill it with KPL knife shield & clean your folders at the end of the day with that & a corse microfiber cloth. Especially if you use your folders for tape & don't carry a dedicated utility folder for that. It removes rusts & residue, all at once. Thank me later. To directly answer your question, as someone who lives in stormy weather: I carry a rosecraft with me at home & outside during my ventures & haven't noticed a whisper of issue from any of them. I don't use them for tape, so I don't oil them with knife shield everyday. They've been great.
@@ThePrime957 I truly appreciate that! That is what the knife community is all about. Enjoying each others company and supporting one another. Thanks for everything!
Just ordered the Nolichucky Jack to go with my several other Rosecraft beauties. They are the best slipjoints per dollar on the market by far.
Definitely agree!
RoseCraft is really making some great fit and finish traditional knives- I like the single bladed ones best
Rosecraft does slip joints very well. Your OG favorite and the new one are really sweet. Their fit and finish is on point.

Right on! I’m glad you have more coming, there is definitely a demand for it!

👍🏼I like the kayak.
That is my favorite!
Rosecraft has been putting out some beauties! I’ve got 4 of em now but there’s a couple I wanna snag. Thanks for sharing Dood
Oh yaaaa!!!!!
A good swedge does a lot to keep a blade from looking plain 👌
Absolutely!

He wants it to look like that. All about the patina
I snagged one. Great review, I appreciate the details with the walk and talk review. Details you don’t get anywhere else. 👊🏼
Glad it was helpful! 🤠🤘

Why ya done??
I am also curious as to the answer of your choice to be done with slipjoints.

That Rosecraft Savage Creek that I won from you is surprisingly beautiful and good quality I love it
Sweet!
Can’t compare these two knives, gec is a piece of art.
At three times the price.
They’re sold out already! That’s crazy! Guess I better get on the mailing list for the next batch.
They are dropping more soon!
Nolichucky BackinStocky as of last night.

What do you use for brass beads? Looks like a bushing - do you remember the size?
It’s actually just a part of a brass air hose fitting I cut off
The obed creek trapper on sight it actually says micarta handle bur I'm like you g10 to me
Yeah that ain’t micarta

Yeah you could put it in a vice and squeeze it a little, that can definitely work
A couple tries and it worked. Thanks Dood!!! I had to squeeze right next to the pivot pin but sure enough it worked.
Cutting cactus sounds like hard use to me.

How thick is it behind the edge?
Haven’t measured it yet. Definitely pretty thin
Do they rust easily in your opinion?
I live in the Caribbean and tend to avoid D2 as a general rule.
