I love the different affects that the tints and shades provide this painting…and the Piggy…wow!. Your videos are always so informational and it feels like in every painting you do, you strive to educate as you paint. Those of us who have not been doing this very long truly appreciate both aspects. Thank you so much for what you do!
I got your comment about wanting to learn about colors. I love what you did here, too. I'm looking forward to studying color theory, too. Your mention that you're studying color reminds me how early last year it occurred to me my pouring art would soon suffer my lack of knowledge/training in art -- including color theory, composition, etc. I realized I was trying an advanced art form, abstract art, before learning essentials and art fundamentals. I want more than hobby and crafts results from my efforts/$. So, lss, I have had gr8 experiences online with grt educators, and have mapped out a curriculum that can stand with the very best art school's I've seen in it's depth and breadth. I still keep up with pouring, but most of my days are spent studying, sketching, practicing drawing. I will soon graduate from lines to forms. This is a huge deal for me because I can see my progress in learning discipline of hand-eye-brain coordination. Recently, I actually copied freehand an image with a human, body of water, a mountain and a structure. The human figure was the best of all 4 since I had learned concept in this new study that everything is made up of combinations of lines and forms. One day I hope to be able to render what I see or imagine with accuracy and success! 🙂
Love your composition. On mixing the primary colors. Red yellow blue. Then value whit an black. Can make all the the colors you want on the wheel. The only ones that are hard to get is raw umber an burnt sienna. For vandike brown I worked in stains . An a mix with raw umber some blue an little black makes vandike brown. Thinking to try that with acrylics. I'm fine artist with the education a color matcher in former jobs with primers an stains. I college was ok for me but I've learned on the job training is so much more. I'm just now in a place in my life that I am doing what I love that's painting in all mediums . I love your style . Your mixing is spot on.
I wright them down on a index card for my interest.then later I will out it on my computer notes. It's hard to remember how much it what color I made last that I liked. Hope that helps. But I think you already know a lot of this . But I'm huge fan of yours.
That was an amazing blow out. Turned out gorgeous!!!! Thanks for sharing how you mix your paints. I am color blind to shades and tones but I better understand them now thanks to you ❤️❤️❤️ Keep learning and teaching 😊 Erica.
Erica, absolutely stunning. When I first saw the colors I truly thought it was going to be too dark. And then you worked your magic. Thank you for sharing what you learn. I am learning so much from you. My arm is still broken so I am just learning all I can. I am sure you will have more videos but have a Blessed Christmas. 💙
Absolutely LOVE this one. Beautiful paint mixes and pallete. I love how bold you are at just jumping in and doing all the ideas that come to u! You're so fun to watch! Thank u for the great content! 👍🏼😊 (I am subscribed lol)
This is lovely. I notice you don't put a base paint on first but do it after the dutch blowout. Do you rely on the blowout covering the sides and the white you put on after the blowout? Actually, what do you use for a white base? Newbie questions. Thankyou
So, so beautiful! Question, I noticed that you left quite a good bit of paint in the center of your canvas. How do you keep that much paint from cracking or forming little crevices and such?
I haven't had a problem with the drying. I do make sure my studio doesn't have huge temperature changes while a painting is drying. I also use good quality paints that have lots of binders. Are you having problems with cracking?
@@EricaHughesArt I use high quality paint also. Lots of Golden and Pebeo and such, so sorts of brands. Sometimes I have cracking. I use GAC 800 so that helps. I haven't had cracks in quite some time. I just make sure I don't have a lot of paint left on my canvas now. But sometimes I end up blowing it too much and lose my composition.
Wow fantastic Erica 😍 What a talent, love the colour theory, well well done on it. Wishing you and your family a very happy Christmas and prosperous, healthy and safe New Year 🙂🍀❣🎄
@@EricaHughesArt I’m ok - getting over a shocking cough, but I’ve just bought some of your paints to cheer me along - look forward to getting them in the post! So glad you’re all fine. xx

If you want to keep your colors consistent the best way is to measure by grams in one cup. So you can always get close to the same color as before.
I wright them down on a index card for my interest.then later I will out it on my computer notes. It's hard to remember how much it what color I made last that I liked. Hope that helps. But I think you already know a lot of this . But I'm huge fan of yours.
This is great info! Thank you for this! Now I want to go mix! 😅🧐
Thank you Tonya! That is a great idea! I could then tell my viewers exactly how to mix a colour that I made. ❤
That was an amazing blow out. Turned out gorgeous!!!! Thanks for sharing how you mix your paints. I am color blind to shades and tones but I better understand them now thanks to you ❤️❤️❤️ Keep learning and teaching 😊 Erica.
Gorgeous!! Those colors, cells, and composition are amazing. Love it. The TLP pigment added a lot to it. Glad you used it.

Oh my good, this is stunning.. I love it!!
Thank you so much!! ❤
This is so beautiful. I’m going to try this. If I can find the paints.
Love 90% of it. Not fond of the white space but if you did tints and tones of white, it would look like water.
Beautiful colors!! ❤ ❤ What is it sitting on to allow you to turn it with such ease?
So gorgeous
Could you please put the link for your hair dryer

.? Plz … what is tint and tone ? What do you mix the pigments with ? Beautiful. Opps I just read all of the post 🧐
Erika instead of using the simplicity can I use pearl white paint by amsterdam
Yes! I think that would be really nice! x
❤️🔝❄️🌨️
Stunning! I think it’s lovely! Superb job, kiddo! How are you? Hugs & love xx
Doing good thank you! Just gearing up for Christmas! You? ❤☃️

I meant to ask you, where did you get that huge bucket of titanium white? I get through so much white….. xx
Why do you blow the white over the color then blow the color out the color again?
Hi Erica
Watch a reading about color theory. I am always looking for things to learn about art
Beautiful!!
