Cd's are still a valued medium, especially for people without a ton of disposable income. Love your CD collection. That wall is damn impressive. Audiophile releases are more accessible. People shouldn't be ashamed of their collection.
I went nuts for Miles and tried to collect everything before finally giving up. But I love his trajectory.

Really fantastic section of jazz-CDs! Amazing boxsets. Those Charlie Christian, Stan Getz and Bud Powell-boxes looked fantasic. Thanks for the tour and take care! :)
Thanks for sharing your jazz collection. You motivated me to pick up the The Complete Ella Fitzgerald Song Book Box Set. What a treasure find! Now if I can only locate the Duke Ellington Centennial RCA Box Set...
I'm not a Jazz guy, but 20 years ago I had asked a former co-worker (from the Netherlands) to recommend something. Roy Hargrove - Habana. Love at first listen, and still do.
I wish you would tell us more about the shelving design history. A lot going on there. Cds all at eye level for example. I tried to emulate it in miniature. Anyway, it's great design for cd enjoyment!
Great tour Mazzy of a seriously impressive collection. I'm always intrigued to delve into jazz more deeply as I only have a few titles, however I'm aware it's a monster of a rabbit hole to go down.!What you've shown here and talked about will encourage me to look a little deeper.nice one and hope you're keeping well.😉👍
love that jazz...coltrane at the village vanguard...ornette coleman...mel torme!...saw mel several times live...have alot of his albums on vinyl....phenomenal stuff...also love love love that you have kerouac in the jazz section...very very nice....peace, scat, and spoken words always...rocky
Fantastic overview Mazzy. I still LOVE Cd’s. I’m debating on purging some of the collection and keeping the jazz and box sets (need space). I’m not familiar with the Lounge Lizards will have to check them out. Did I miss Monk in this video? Great to see you doing well. God bless
Such an impressive collection. I'm just starting to collect Jazz CD albums. I recently purchased an album by Carmen McRae. The best female Jazz artist & musician IMO. ❤
Mazzy, it is really fun to see the range of your collection. So much music that I have never seen, probably because I wasn't paying attention. Thanks, Chris
Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday performed at Washington Hall. I've begun my interest in jazz with Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk and expands from there. Great to hear recommendations.
Hi Mazzy, impressive Jazz collection. My father-in-law who passed away in 2017 owned one of the largest Jazz and Blues CD private collection. He has over 20,000 CDs categorically arranged. 100s of box sets as well. Most of them have never been opened. He was a Jazz enthusiast and a fanatical collector. Both my sons inherited the entire collection but don’t share his passion and would like to sell his entire collection. Do you have any advise?
problem with cd box sets is that they come in all different sizes and shapes, and don't fit in with regular shelving in basic jewel boxes. like books they can only be stored in singular file and not stacked. i store my 1200 cd collection on bookshelves. 2 bookshelves with 4 shelves each. plenty of space on each shelf so i store 2 to 3 rows of cds on each shelf. i trimmed so sheets of styrofoam between each row which looks great and utilizes space. but box sets wouldn't fit into this setup.
You threw Tal Farlow under the bus! (LOL) His stuff was always tough to find. I'm not a big fan of vocals, big band, or early mainstream jazz like Errol Garner, Art Tatum, Bud Powell, and Stan Getz. Much of the VC doesn't highlight those recordings probably because that stuff was way overplayed and highlighted on public jazz radio for years and isn't real groundbreaking. You do have some nice completist oriented sets that not only give you the music but full biographies. When building my cd collection, I preferred to go after the Fantasy distributed titles on Prestige, Riverside, and Contemporary. Full catalogs with sidemen like Ray Draper and Booker Ervin who had solid careers on their own. In the 90's, OJC cds were easy to find but not so today. If you buy new, you are likely to get a cd-r from Concord who purchased the Fantasy catalog.
Any of a number of the artists you just mentioned. You did a vinyl piece on Young, Webster, etc, a long time ago but I would love a closer look at that Lester Young CD set. Bud Powell too. :-)
Nothing wrong with them. I have lots of CD's and still buy them. Way cheaper than the overpriced vinyl re-issues. Don't worry, i do have a good LP collection as well but I'm not a purist. It's about music, not format.

Everytime i see one of your video’s i can begin the search for new albums for my collection. Thanks for sharing.
We have a lot of the same awesome jazz cds! Love Chet Baker singing and playing and the breezy West Coast sound he was part of.
I went nuts for Miles and tried to collect everything before finally giving up. But I love his trajectory.

Thank you for watching. It’s fun to share 🤠
Great to see you have the Beau Hunks!!! They are Dutch indeed. Also great to see a big jazz collection on CD.
The photo of John Coltrane is WOW. Lounge LIzards could be a good gateway to jazz for many people.
Um espetáculo sua coleção de jazz, parabéns,estou postando desde Bahia-Brasil

Don't purge; you'll regret it!

Very nice. My Jazz CD collection starts and ends with two Johns; Abercrombie and Zorn. Carry on.
Quick question, would you put traditional pop artists (Sinatra, Sammy David Jr., Bing Crosby, etc) in the Jazz genre collection?? Thanks!
I wish I could devour the Analog Productions series of SACD jazz.
love CDs

Unfortunately with many cd box sets they’re now being sold for high prices, which loses its value
The Miles metal boxes disappointed me as several of the discs were ruined due to glue getting on the surface.

Please do a MMJ and Tone Poet update!!
What, no Monty Alexander?!!😘
Nice jazz shit. Got any individual (jazz) artist features planned?
Only one upcoming Bluenote 4000 Project contribution. Any suggestions???
