@@Jordon__ Mine is under warranty for the next couple of years, however, Audi has cast iron reliability and I'm not really aware of many issues with the A5. If you are looking at a car outwith warranty, there are many independent Audi specialists who will keep any repairs reasonable. Good luck.

I agree, Nick. I have an A4 and have gotten the A5 as a loaner… both cars are a joy to drive. Given the number of A4/ A5 reviews available on TH-cam, one would have thought Abraham could have watched a few to study up. His content was weak, fairly and thoughtless.

🤷🏼‍♂️ I’ve owned an Audi A5 Coupe S-line Black Edition 2.0 TDI 2011 for 9 years… and I bloody love it!! It’s very comfortable on long drives (I was doing 20,000+ miles per year… I’ve driven more than 115,000 miles in total), it’s relatively fuel efficient (for this type of sporty looking executive car) getting average 35mpg. I’ve spent approx £11k on 75k miles (approx £0.15 per mile). It LOOKS effing cool! The frameless door windows, the curves, the slopes roof, the flick on the boot lid, the low profile, the diamond cut 5-arm Black Ed wheels. It’s a sexy car! It’s not that low to get in/out and very comfortable inside for all passengers. I often have a car seat for a baby/toddler in the front passenger seat, which I was amazed by but fits easily and work great. It’s hella fun to drive and has some punch when you put your foot down. It’s 30-60 acceleration is great, even in the diesel!
So yea, there are a lot of positives about this car!
Problems (yes, of course there are, but they’re not that bad)
Big doors on the Coupe which can be tricky in tight parking spots.
Minimal leg room and head room in the back (of the 2-door coupe), but I personally rarely had people in the back.
Can be expensive to buy. Mine was approx £20k, in 2013, 2 years old and high spec.
Can have expensive parts, but having taken the mileage from 20k to 120k I can say that all the parts and repairs I’ve done over the year were in line with expectations and any other vehicle of this type/age.
So… there’s my long time user review!!

if you/anyone have problem/concern with A5 being low to the ground, premium gas and high price and etc., then go and buy a cheap honda.

    • @Abarthar
      @Abarthar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I mean, why consider an A5 if low to the found is an issue? If you want something that's easy to get in and out of, plenty of CUV to choose from. Also, having sat in an R8, A5 isn't nearly as low as the R8.
It's like choosing a 2 seater sports car and then complain about it not being a good car to fit the whole family.

Firstly, this is in fact a very inaccurate and poor assessment of the vehicle. Secondly, no reviewer worth their salt would ever say "you shouldn't purchase this" because they understand that customers have varying biases, needs, and wants in a product. The idea is to elaborate on the attributes of the car and remind the viewer the pros/cons and what might appeal to a certain type of consumer. You should also correct your review where you talk about it requiring 91 octane. Just because it's a "4 cylinder engine" doesn't mean it should run on regular. The reason why it needs 91 is because it's running boost. High compression turbo engines cannot run effectively on low octane. The ECU will need to compensate, you'll get pre-detonation, knocking, etc. Anything running boost, no matter how many cylinders, requires higher octane fuel.

I’m an owner of a 2016 Audi A5 and I’m 6’4. This car is so much fun to drive. The way it handles and picks up speed is like no other. The engineering behind Audis are great. The s line suspension which makes the car lower to the ground is not really a issue to not buy this vehicle. If you are worried about it being too low then buy the base A5. I’ve driven my Audi 92k miles and no problems besides regular maintenance and upkeep. Definitely recommend this car if you want to get behind the wheel and feel a thrill. Audis are driving machines and meant to be driven. So yes it can be a daily driver. As for gas it has a huge gas tank which does affect cost but it’s very efficient, depending on how you drive.I’d recommend Audi A5 10 times out of 10.

Another great aspect of the A5 is has plenty of leg room for tall people. For a car that has a compact design/feel to it is impressive. Room in the backseat takes a hit for the sedan but I don’t care. I don’t have children to haul around everywhere so it’s a non issue. A5 is not a family sedan it’s labeled “sportback” for a reason. If someone needs more space in the backseat then just simply go up the number line with Audi.

  • @MuhammadAhmad-ho4ot

I’ve owned a 2018 A5 Sportback and it’s a really good daily driver for the money! I’d drive 60 miles a day and it was perfect but my butt would hurt as it’s still a “sporty car” at the root of it. Seating wise, you can raise it quite a bit up if it’s too low to get in/out. Gas isn’t expensive. I averaged 32mpg, I sold mine at 66k miles and it was solid the whole time I had it. Backseat room could be better, but if you’re under 5’10 you’ll be fine. Also a big thing to realize is that if you do buy a used car, you won’t get every bell and whistle that you’d want so you may have to make sacrifices. I have cooled seats on my current car and it’s honestly nothing crazy so I don’t think you’re missing out personally. Overall, beautiful car and for $30k used, the A5 Sportback is one of the best deals you could get in the luxury car section

so, a cons to a sporty premium branded car are: it's expensive, cannot run on junk US fuel (I guess in Europe we only have the premium fuel then), and is too sporty (too low to the ground and low roof at the back).
Only real problem is the lack of cooled seats, which is in fact a bit infuriating, but man, the rest is just weird.

Yes I own one and as Nick says below me I couldn't disagree more with your assessment of this car. My Audi is the 4 door sportsback or hatch as some call it. Its not a coupe, thats the 2 door version. My Audi is also the 3.0 litre diesel turbo version, it may be a diesel but I can assure you its not slow. Abrahams comment on fuel is completely irrelevant if you're in the market for a European car as they all run on premium fuels, petrol or diesel. And the economy on my Audi is better than any hybrid on the market. Seats, Abraham mentioned 4 seats in the rear - I think only a Hummer would have that luxury. The side seats next to the doors have plenty of room for my 6 foot frame and my head doesn't touch the roof even though it has a sloping roof. The centre seat is a bit tight for longer trips but I spent 3 hours in the right rear seat of my Audi on a long trip recently and it was perfectly comfortable. Lease payments, well if its not in your budget its not in your budget. You can either buy an older model or buy a Hyundai. Yes it is low but thats why its called a sportsback not a station wagon. And the boot/trunk is huge BTW. So if you're in the market for a European car I can highly recommend this Audi A5.

I would’ve loved to come across this video when the dislike counter was still a thing, so I wouldn’t have wasted my time today. Basically this guy’s telling us to not buy an A5 because he couldn’t do research before buying the car: 1. complains about the engine requiring premium gas (d’oh!) - it has nothing to do with Audi in general
    2. Not comfortable in the backseats: this is why people actually give the car a test drive before buying it
    3. Complains about the car being expensive overall: tell us something we didn’t already know about premium cars in general.
Anyway, I was hoping to see a video where the owner talks about: issues they encountered with the car, how much it costed, their experience with the service, how it drives etc.
It makes me even more mad to know I took the time to write this comment, being well aware I’m only adding engagement to the video. Dude!

I own a 2022 Audi A5 40 TFSI quattro mhev premium plus, i have Ventilated seats with leather seats full MMI infotainment, with virtul cockpit and google earth, and all sensors (cruise assist, breaking collision management, traffic jam driving, cruise control ect) led matrix lights (front and rear), sun roof. I’m just missing some of the prestige options. My cost out the door was 62k with audi extended warranty (5k $). I can say it was the best purchase i have ever made… no bs i am averaging 43 mpg when driving on highways at 75mph with a full tank i can get 630miles, if its combined mix driving i get 35/37 with 500 / 530 and driving crazy with some fun never under 400 miles, the tank is 15.2 or 15.6gal. Service averages between 350 to 500$ it can get pricey. I have 28k miles on the car having the vehicle since July 2022. And after 3 oil changes i have to say i am very satisfied, with everything. Be4 that i have a 2022 jeep GrandCheeroke L summit drove it 6 months and I hated that car turned it in and worked a great deal loosing only 3k on the Jeep paid cash not on loan(i was upside with loan). I fully suggest if you want one you should do it. Also keep in mind the 40TFSI is not super fast max speed is 133 mph /215kph if you are ok with that your will love it. But if you want a little more I suggest you get the 45TFSI (but is it worth it in the US) I’m in Germany now and now i wish a bit more speed on the Autobahn sometimes.

I have a boosted a5 and the maintenance is pretty reasonable and if you ever want to upgrade the car is really not that expensive. It’s a very reliable and fun car to own, and to be honest it’s not that terrible on gas, even with a upgraded turbo and all that you still average about 21-30 miles a gallon.

Just bought one !Cool seats ,extended legs for comfort ,I’m 64 and LOVE it! My man is a big guy raise the seat and he gets out of it. When we can’t get out of it we’ll get a Q5 but until then it’s our sports car. The seats are sooo comfortable and the back seats are too they are tilted back for comfort. Plenty of room. Better than a Range Rover and Land Rover! Goes like hell too! I’m in love!

It's unfortunate that you didn't notice that the A5 has a warm weather package available on it for purchase. You could have gotten the ventilated seats through that option. It took me awhile to locate one with that package, and the cold weather package, but it was definitely worth the effort.

    I have an Audi A5 2013 1.8 Turbo Sportback with 92,000km
It's a used car with 1 previous owner that took exceptionally good care of it. It had 70,000km on it when I bought it. Haven't had a single mechanical issue with it apart from ordinary wear and tear (replaced a couple of sensors, replaced a headlamp).
It's an incredible car to drive, and corners like it's on rails. I previously owned a BMW 330i (also very fun to drive, and very quick) and I have to say that the AUDI far surpasses the BMW for quality of ride, and overall performance too.
I'm 5" 11' and there's plenty of room in the front and the back, so I really don't understand what this reviewer is on about in regards to his perspectives on the space in the cabin - reckon he must have put the front seat back as far as it will go in order to purposely make it appear cramped in the back 🤣.
Furthermore, the boot (that's what we call the 'trunk' in Australia) is huge, and if you put the seats down you can transport some impressively large items.
The only minor issue that I have with the car is that the audio system doesn't have Bluetooth....but that was easily fixed with a $10 device that plugs into the cigarette lighter and makes music and hands-free Bluetooth calls easy.
It's a gorgeous car, and awesome to drive 👍🏻

I own an 2018 A5 and is very good, not a single problem so far with 42k miles in it, is very reliable, for starters, when you buy any car, make sure you can afford maintenance or a part replacement if something happens and you will be good, but is the same for all brands and models. Make sure you can afford fixing it.

    Hi Abraham
The reason why you have to put "premium" fuel in the A5 :
In europe normal Gas got 95 octane
Premium Gas in europe is between 98 and 100 octane
I heard in the U.S ""regular " Gas only get 87-88 octane
so the engine was built for the european market, we also put this "E10" Bio Fuel in and its no problem

I rented one from Enterprise a few times and because I’m 6’2” I was bumped how low it is to the ground. But once you’re sitting and driving it’s pretty nice. I also noticed my head is more closer to the door window for some reason and the roof line is lower compared to my ‘18 A4.

Too late, already bought one. First-gen 3.2 manual, cause the 1.8T an 2.0T are infamous for bad piston rings and oil consumption. And manual cause real men drive stick.
Yes, some parts can be expensive, but you’re driving a premium brand at the end of the day. Regular maintenance will avoid a lot of issues though.
Premium gas is a choice, it will run on regular but mileage is much more efficient with premium. So at the end of the day you’re not overpaying as much as you’d expect.
Yes, room in the back sucks, but like you said it’s a coupé. If you need room in the back get an A4 or A6, easy.

I have an 2018 A4 and had a loaner 2022 A5 when my wife’s Q5 was in for maintenance. I love the look of the Q5 and the trunk. Thought I wanted one before having both the A4 & A5 side by side. The A4 is so much more comfortable to get in an out. The seats aren’t much lower, but the entire roofline is at least 4” lower and slanted more front and back. Looks good, but it’s a pain to get in an out daily. (5’10” 210 lbs) Glad I didn’t upgrade my A4. My A4 feels like it has more torque as well… can’t explain why. The suspension is also sportier. Maybe the A5 has the newer adaptive struts/shocks that gives it a softer feel. They are both nice, but now that I’m in my 40s, I’ll stick with a sedan for my daily and my 2 door spider for the weekend. Both are awesome cars. My wife also has. 2019 Q5 prestige…. I do like an Audi!

Like Nick (below) Couldn't disagree more, I have had mine for coming up 5 years now, its a 3.0 TDI V6 with 62,000 on the clock, and averages 49 mpg and 0-60 in about 5 sec. I am on my own so don't care about the limited space in the rear, it has variable dampers, so its comfortable, and handles well,. Apart from a problem with the emissions add blu system, it has been trouble free. I am 84 and a bit overweight, but can get in and out without to much hassle, I use the seat memory 1 sets up the driving position, an i have set 2 to slide the seat back and recline the back which helps when door opening is restricted. like it much better than the 430 tdi BMW I sold to buy this. so might not suit some but sweeping generalisations are pants

I purchased a 2015 Audi A5 premium plus S-line with 32k miles from my dealership I work at; they got it from auction- my purchase date was 4 months ago. I got it for $23k. It is the BEST vehicle I have ever had out of 5 vehicles. I’m 5’10, 160lbs- the car is a tiny bit awkward to get in and out of, but all around, the acceleration is nice, I don’t mind paying for premium gas. Doing an oil change is a little expensive, but I’m lucky to work for a Chevy dealership that accommodates me. I freaking LOVE this car and will drive it till the wheels fall off. Don’t knock it because you didn’t do a proper assessment of your vehicle before purchase.

I totally disagree…. I have a 2022 A5 Sportback and it’s the best car I’ve owned. A5’s are traditionally coupes so the SB is a 4dr coupe meaning it’s not meant to be spacious in the rear. You can put mid grade fuel in the 4cyl engine without sacrificing performance. I DO have ventilated seats. Its low center of gravity is for performance. This car is the perfect combination of sport and luxury making it worth every penny!

I purchased a 2019 A5 Sportback Nov 2022. I love the car. To me, the issues mentioned are pretty minor. My only minor complaint is the lack of storage space and there isn't a slot to place the cell phone. I had a 2015 A4 previously (best car I have owned - no mechanical issues) and it had a nice slot on the center console where I could place my phone. Again, minor issue. Other than that I LOVE this car so far, but I'm not surprised. My 3rd Audi, and have not been disappointed yet.
