When installing the rubbers on the impeller blades, if you bolt them tight against the impeller housing, it will be hard to turn because of the friction. To keep the initial drag off the motor, I spray silicone inside the housing so everything turns smoother. I run my blowers for 15 to 20minutes to seat in the rubber pads, kinda like wearing in the rings of an engine during the break-in period.

Thanks for the great video! I'm about to go out in my garage and install an impeller kit on my 3 stage MTD :). Saved me the Hassel of trying to figure it out on my own

Thank you for the video. How much did it improve the throw for you? I have the exact same model and wished I never would have bought it. The throw is weak, it clogs up a lot and shears cotter pins regularly. My much cheaper 2 stage worked so much better

At least doubled it... depending on the type of snow... could triple it.

What happened to the bolt install part? I did this on my big snow blower and might to it in my small one if I had some rubber.

You purchased self tapping screws. Did you end up using bolts?

No.. the self tapping drill point screws worked perfectly and have lasted since installation.
