Hi Michelle, I'm currently undergoing diagnosis of my condition, it appears that I have gastroparesis. I have a difficult time with pain after I eat I would be nauseated and would at times vomit. My gi doctor and I have been discussing the possibility of putting in an nj tube. I'm glad yo see your video. My question is, I know the video has been posted for a year but how long have you been on the nj tube and how has it been working for you?

Hi Nick, sorry to hear about your health, I hope you're doing much better soon! I had the NJ tube in for 5 months and it really helped me. I was able to rest my stomach and start oral liquid intake on its terms, and then grow its tolerance from there. I started with a baseline of tolerating 125ml a day without throwing up and gently increased it until I could manage 1800ml of water and day. Then I started to introduce nutrition shakes. I started 5ml at a time, every 2 hours and decreased the time gap first, down to every half and hour. Then I tried to increase the liquid 5ml at a time. If it didn't go well, I'd go back to my baseline until I felt better and tried again. After 5 months I was able to manage my calorie needs with oral liquids. It took another year before I had much progress with solid food and I am now managing pureed soups, white gluten free carbs, potato's, chocolate, low fat crisps and low fat cheese. I'm starting to try and reintroduce solid veggies that I think I might handle and so far have managed small amounts of steamed spinach.
