South African MLRS are *very* overlooked, thank you for making a video on them.

Everybody is fascinated by South African weapons. I read all the books and the birder war really needs a movie

All these armaments are the brainchild of PW. Nobody gives PW any credit - but they are all making money from his inventions. As Minister of Defence - no one to rival PW. Started with 2nd WW equipment - sanctions & ended up with world beaters.

What I always miss in movies about combat vehicles is the most important thing. The driver. It's always about the guns, but the driver is always forgotten in the cutscenes. Without a driver, every tank is a sitting duck.

i love how southafrica made their own weapons to meet their needs since they have alot of embargos. and most of their weapon systems are the best in their class.

Another good video. But, even though I like the South African systems so much, let's accept that the real legend is the BM-21 Grad.

We developed our MLR's based on captured BM21's and ammunition.
The Rooi Oog (RedEye) was not very popular with SADF soldiers on the receiving end.
Seeing these in action was both awesome and awful.

Great information, South Africa could have employed so many people in the defense industry, much like the Americans do, but the Yankee pulled the plug on us, we could employ our people and supply great jobs for our South African people...

Why do people think that just because there are visual similarities that means western systems must always be copies of Soviet sytems?
      1) West Germany had an identical system in use before the BM-21. The US used similar systems as far back as 1944.
      2) Engineering problems often need the same solutions regardless of who is doing the designing, so identical parallel development is very common; that doesn't mean somebody had to have copied anybody else.
      3) It is actually well documented proven fact that many Soviet/Russian and Chinese weapon systems are copies of western systems, since they have generally lagged behind the West in R&D, but not in espionage.

Because SADF captured the systems during Operation Savannah in Angola in 1976, copied them and improved them - even if it did not origin from where....who do you think invented the MLRS in WW2? (Soviet BM-13 Katyusha) Also you think we designed the G5???? Go read up about Dr Gerald Bull and his legacy.
