Yes, this is the time to be doing these 'thought experiments' and putting no limit on what we can imagine because one day it will be achievable. Truly exciting times.

Medical breakthrough that enhance an individuals quality of life sounds like a good thing. Nothing is really ever a certainty though I do think I'd give it a go if that meant I could hear at an old age.

Love what he says about hearing aids! My mother has hers synced to her phone and to her laptop and it's honestly so cool to think about how that kind of tech is going to evolve

Having a chip that can analyze DNA within minutes is impressive. It could be a game-changer for medical diagnostics and situations that are time sensitive.
Many men die needlessly because of prostrate cancer. Having the technology to test and operate would save so many lives.
This makes me genuinely excited for the future of health care. I though telehealth was pretty awesome but the possibilities for where it could go from here are really interesting!
There's something about the idea of human implanted microchips that really appeals to me. It's this ease of access of what's important to me in a now very complicated world.
These are really cool scenarios to think about! I really hope it does get to a point where an ambulance can just rock up to wherever the medical emergency is and is equipped with something that can assess and provide treatment right then and there. Would be so valuable in terms of those situations where time is crucial.

I am so grateful to the innovation that has allowed those to experience the full spectrum of being human that they would not have otherwise experienced. However, my forgetfulness is not a reason to have a microchip implanted in me.
Can we just get over being scared of everything and embrace the fact that these advancements could actually be really beneficial to how we operate in our daily lives?

My daughter's cochlear implant has changed her world. We were hesitant to have something like that in her brain but she can hear birds and our voices. Wonderful.

Has your wife already taken the chip out, really at the kitchen table with a knife or axe ? Fascinating, exciting and entertaining at the same time. I find the thought experiments very interesting. What the future brings will probably all be there sooner than we think.

Having surgery away from a hospital setting and your own dedicated nursing robot would deliver much better outcomes. Hospitals are the last place you want to be when you're sick.
I think nursing robots will be a wonderful addition to hospital wards. No more strained backs and injuries from lifting patients.
yeah, this could especially help with reducing fatigue-related slip-ups as well
I really love Christophs idealism here. Sadly I'm a lot more realistic and highly doubt medicine will evolve to a place like this. At least not in the US, where everything is an industry, designed to make money.
A self driving OR with a robot doing the operation is a little confronting for me I gotta say.
Where do I go to get this magic chip? Please sign me up immediately I can only see the positive side of this technology.
Okay the self driving car thing freaks me out though. Unless there was some way to swap over ALL the cars at the same time there's still going to be people just cruising around, completely able to make mistakes and there you were UNABLE to react because AI is driving your car!!

I don't think I'm comfortable with a chip in my body. I'm still working on the chip on my shoulder! However we do have chips in our pets and the way this is explained it certainly makes sense.
There is such a divide in this, I know some people who can't wait to get that chip and put their whole lives on it and others that are genuinely so repulsed by it
I know a guy who had the NFC part of a transit card implanted into his hand and then got in trouble because it was a misuse of govt property lol
What he talks about around the 6:30 mark is super interesting but I think we're still a far way away from it becoming a reality.

Routinely we read about patients getting incorrect care in hospital. A microchip with their medical data would end this quickly!
