Gives a sense of how older people still had a "hold" over society 40 years ago, this is as far away from Loose Women as it's humanly possible to imagine!
Thanks. This may be my favorite episode of any I've seen - just so delightfully bonkers, starting with a tarot reading and going into Christmas carols and presents, with some thinly veiled bitchery along the way. I've always wondered why this show didn't get more parodies but episodes like this make me see it is also ripe for a horror comedy take.
Ok So this is earlier reality TV. It is, and I'm totally intrigued. People actually don't change do they? Herein we have rivalry, hierarchy, humour, you do the rest and it is intriguing
I remember my Nan and Mum watching Houseparty.
Thanks. According to the TV listings, this would have been broadcast on Tuesday 23 December 1980.

Oh my god! Two observations: (1) I'm not surprised Southern lost their franchise, and (2) this is "Knowing Me, Knowing Yule"!
Aahaaa!!!!!
No it’s a slow paced chat, done well with classy ladies.
Thank you so much. I just love these...keep them coming please!!!!!❤

I think this must have inspired Alan Partridge's "Knowing Me, Knowing Yule".
Apparently Marjorie and Joan from Victoria Wood was slightly based on this.
@@leeosborne3793 I can see it - all they need is Kevin Eldon in the kitchen.
@@jkex388 Oh that's fascinating. Thanks.
@@kengeorgejones6855 "Do you want Peter, or do you want Fanny?" 😂
Thanks for posting this! How many episodes still exist? I know a lot of older shows got wiped.
I think the Southern archive is pretty safe and secure. Unfortunately the same can't be said for TVS.

Who ever thought let’s put a mix of ladies together with nothing in common and turn a camera on…? Mum called it “ Cat Party”
How many of the cast are still alive today?
A couple of them still are.
Yes sad that Lucy died so young
I believe Mary Morris might still be alive, apparently she lives in Australia now.
@@jkex388 I read that she died.
To quote Alan Partridge.... "lots of women talking blathering crap"
Oh go away!
Lol.... No@@jemmajames6719
