I've always loved Monica and loved her voice, but this was the interview that made me really respect her. She was so open and honest and real and didn't sugarcoat anything but also carried herself with class and strength, even after all the stuff she went through. Especially after witnessing her boyfriend commit suicide; I couldn't imagine witnessing something so traumatic and it's only by the grace of God that she's still emotionally and spiritually intact. As for some of the people in the comments section making strange and rather insensitive, judgmental comments saying such and such said she cheated and some saying that she's a sell out for not crying, etc. First of all, you guys weren't there when she watched Jarvis kill himself. She was, and she had to have been devastated. Y'all have no right to judge her and make comments on how she should act over addressing the subject, or what went on in the relationship (that's between Monica and Jarvis) and since Monica made clear that Jarvis' brothers' death, and possibly having to grow up in a rough environment struggling to survive, pushed him over the edge, so all those "sources" really sound like gossipers. And God warned us to have no part with gossiping. Second, to reiterate, most of you guys were not there. Monica was. She saw what happened and would have no reason to just tell a dramatized story. And this was a traumatic experience. So all of the over the top, insensitive and judgy comments need to stop. Time out for all that. P.S. I also thought that it was interesting for Monica to say that after her parents' divorce, she became torn between two totally different worlds, which is pretty accurate because divorce affects children deeper than what we want to address. And you can see those traits in Monica--part of her being street smart and edgy, and the other part of Monica carrying herself with grace, class and elegance.
You can tell she became 2 separate people too. Cause she can be hood like in her music, and her swag at times, and then, she can be graceful when like interviewing
