Hello Chrissy, First of all, thank you very much for the time you took to create these educative and clear videos. I really appreciate your hard work. Could you please explain to me (or make a video about) why you barely pronounce the 'n' in for example ενενήντα & εξήντα? Eυχαριστώ in advance!
hello my name is Sofia i am just starting to lean Greek properly since my mamas side is Greek and i was wondering if i can have some help finding a sheet that i can work with that already have all the numbers from 1 - 100 on them because it would make it a lot easier since i know a bit and i am now 14 and need to catch up a lot since i am starting Greek school and finding things a bit hard. thank you for your time
Sophie Jennings wow this is a coincidence, just thought I would have a quick read through the comments and I find another 14 year old girl trying to learn Greek because of being Greek on their mothers side (I'm the same)
Hi +AG, Thank you for your question. Today's σαράντα comes from the ancient τεσσαράκοντα which with time lost its first non-accented syllable and then got simplified to σαράντα. Some numbers evolved in their own way for various reasons, so they might not all follow the pattern you describe. Kind regards, Team GreekPod101.com
Hello Luis, Thank you for your message. As you know 'εκατό' [ekató] means one hundred. 'εκατόν' [ekatón] is the katharevousa form (archaising form of Modern Greek) of 'εκατό'. You will find 'εκατόν' in old textbooks or in greek numbers 101-109 (εκατόν ένα-εκατόν εννιά). e.g. 1100 = χίλια εκατό [hília ekató] 1121 = χίλια εκατόν είκοσι ένα [hília ekatón íkosi éna] Please check our free dictionary www.greekpod101.com/greek-dictionary and search for entries-examples of the two forms of 100. If you have any further question, don't hesitate to contact us again. All the best, Nektarios Team GreekPod101.com

And the other is "έξι (6) χιλιάδες (hiliades=thousands) εννιακόσιες (enniakosies=the female form of 900) εβδομήντα οκτώ (evdominda okto=78) κόμμα σαράντα πέντε (saranda pende) κυπριακές (kipriakes=cypriot) λίρες (leeres=pounds)

how about your telling price like 12,56 euro or 6978,45 Cypriot pound
You say "δώδεκα (12) ευρώ (evro=euro) και (ke=and) πενήντα έξι (56) λεπτά (lepta=cents)" or "δώδεκα κόμμα ( komma is the greek word for the symbol , ) πενήντα έξι ευρώ". In Cyprus we don't use Cypriot pounds any more. We use euros
She is right , yours are more correct.
