Hi Dave! Thank you! This was extremely helpful. I took a lot of notes and incorporated a lot of what you said into my games. Pro Football Reference is an invaluable resource. I also use the Defensive Play Calling Cards. They are worth the $15. I’m currently using the basic version. At some point I will get the master version, but I’m happy with basic for now. One feature I thought about adding is a weather feature. You could make adjustments for a game played in December in the snow. Maybe add a few points on defense because of the cold weather. Just something you can add to the game. PFR gives you the weather which is awesome.
I haven't played any APBA Football in a long time. I used to play it a ton. The APBA games are just a bit idiosyncratic. They all have things about them that eventually bug me. They also all have things I really like. I did pick up a vintage baseball game (and master game) recently and have played a ton of bowling, so maybe dipping my toe back into football, at least a little, would be cool.
The only thing I would caution about using other game solitaire charts for APBA is their definition of short/long pass probably isn't the same as other games like Second Season. I would imagine the long pass for APBA should rarely be used?

Thanks for this vid. I struggle with football games in general.

I have been recently back into Bowl Bound and Paydirt, which play quicker and have less stat overhead.
