some people hating michael bay and the rest of tranformers movie but they didnt realize how magical to make this kind of visuals. its not a joke its a magical effect!
Literally "behind the magic"... i just can stand and clap my hands and try to shut my mouth... you guys are not artists, you are magicians!!! I love this series!
0:49 HAHA I KNEW MICHAEL BAY MADE A CAMEO IN THAT PART!!! I watched in the theaters telling people that was him!!! As always, great work ILM and congrats Scott!
The people who hate this movie just need to accept that Michael Bay does things differently. He doesn't like to do things normally, he does it his way and his way only.
VFX Ltd™ for a good reason. for some of us who have done some small films for school or work, we know how hard or even impossible is to act and lead behind the camera at the same time. and also those factors ppl forget about: even a good actor can feel somewhat embarrassed to act with the headmaster of the project, or the way around. Good producers may not be the best actors in front of a camera xD but best behind it. ^^ Mel Gibson acted and led his movies, so yeah, it is possible however super hard.
Not a fan of these films but big fan of the amazing VFX team at ILM and their vendors. Great work and it is so nice that you share a little look inside the layers and layers of effort that go into making these spectacular visual effects look so amazing on the big screen!
The level of complexity present in these shots just keeps on rising. Bringing it all together into a cohesive final image is an immense challenge, and you guys continue to do it - and like all of us, in less and less time. Respect.
How much more detailed are the autobots/decepticons in comparison to the first Transformers? By eye it looks like you guys doubled, maybe even tripled the amount of parts to them.
Amazing! Love to see this kind of video's! And I don't know if I can do it through here, but I want to thank you guys at ILM for doing this, you guys are heroes! This is just incredible!!! Keep it up!
absolutely incredible! Keep bringing the magic! What's the average workload on shots like these? How many man hours do you invest? Keep it up guys, you're the best in the buisness!
One could argue about the quality of the movie itself, but the visual effects were great as always. A few remarks though: 1) At 1:57 it was odd and in fact quite noticeable (even if you aren't actively looking out for such things), that the rail structure didn't break or at least get some visible damage. 2) If you compare TF4 with TF1 one can clearly see the evolution of the FXs, because movements and transformations weren't as "fluent" in the latter, than they are in the former, however: The less "organic" motions did seem somewhat more fitting for robots. and 3) The left guy at 0:50 looked like M. Bay himself. Was he? Anyway, thanks for sharing these insides.
so...i never actually understand it..but i'm always amused about it though... sooo....actually it's not about the 3D model polycount right? no matter how much the poly, the one who "blend" the 3D model with the scene is something calle visual effect right? and is that actually works like layers (like the video shows)?
@ 0:51.. thats bay :P didn't know that. stellar work by ILMVisualFX ! since the movie heavily relies on rigid body simulations & pyro fx, are you using in-house tools built by urself? Don't you guys play with Fumefx or PhoenixFD? Thanks.

This just totally shows how hard the people worked on the visual effects. It's so intriguing! I don't see how people could hate these things.
haha Michael Bay in that truck
Literally "behind the magic"... i just can stand and clap my hands and try to shut my mouth... you guys are not artists, you are magicians!!! I love this series!
Impressive, ILM does outstanding CGI!
The trend of hating certain things? Do you even hear yourself when you say stuff like that? heheh

Haha that guy who they put in the truck with a green screen was prolly in the cinema like "wait for it... wait for it... THERE I AM! did you see me?"
is that Michael Bay in the truck in 0:51 ?
I was asking myself the same thing! XD
lol, just realised after reading ur comment XD Wonder why producers never make big appearances instead of cameos
Yup

oustanding work.. one day I hope to join the ILM team!
is that Michael Bay on the left @ 0:51?
This is why Transformers has the best visual effects to date.
The level of complexity present in these shots just keeps on rising.
Bringing it all together into a cohesive final image is an immense challenge, and you guys continue to do it - and like all of us, in less and less time.
Respect.
How many are going back to watch Michael Bay in the truck?
How much more detailed are the autobots/decepticons in comparison to the first Transformers? By eye it looks like you guys doubled, maybe even tripled the amount of parts to them.

WOW!!!! MICHAEL BAY PUT HIMSELF IN THE MOVIE???
I wish Optimus Prime had crashed into the cap of that truck, instead of the trailer at 0:50.
Nice stuff
Amazing
@ 0:51.. thats bay :P didn't know that.
stellar work by ILMVisualFX ! since the movie heavily relies on rigid body simulations & pyro fx, are you using in-house tools built by urself? Don't you guys play with Fumefx or PhoenixFD?
Thanks.
How long did animating the... interesting transformation of the decepticons take?
Simulations alone for smoke and fire musta been HUGE....dang...ill..
Is that Michael Bay as the passenger in the truck?
amazing
this doesn't get enough attention
Spoiler for my the end of the film ¬¬ 2:43
