Hey Barr! I'm planning to visit NYC in October and I saw your videos on that topic, do you have any plan to create a guide to purchase similar to your guide on Holidays?
I spent last week in NYC with my family. Watched a ton of your videos to prep. My wife and daughter were impressed on how well I could navigate everything and how great the curation of activities was. Thanks from the barrio!
Great video I have been visiting NYC for 25 years from Australia and we don’t have the deli / bodega either, unfortunately. I am a huge fan of then for cheap tasty and healthy meal options. When I am in London the chain store Pret a Manger is the cheapest eats I have found that is sandwich type of meal that is easy and they literally have one on every corner in London.
Hi Jon, even though I have traveled to NYC four times it's good to learn some new information for tips and tricks for staying on a budget. It's also good to learn new information for navigating your way through NYC.
Good one Jon! If you do a part 2, you should include the TWA hotel Free lounge for killing long layovers. I also think my favorite subway tip is that northbound stations are on the same side of the street as the northbound Automotive lanes.
Really would love to see a video from you that's a bit of a guide towards moving to NYC and tips for your first couple months in NYC if you've made that move.
Good Friday Afternoon My Friend IAM Hoping That You Are Having A Awesome Day Jon Thank You So Much For Sharing This Information With All Of Us Keep Up The Good Work Always With Love Ms British Gray From Tampa Florida 😊
Recent first-time visitor to NYC. Took the Q70 bus for free from La Guardia to the subway. Then got the 7-day metro pass because that was the exact length of our visit. Highly recommend! Also, people were super helpful along the way, which took away any worries about whether we were going the right way.
I'm from NYC & never heard of City Mapper app for the subways. Thanks for that 1. You might want to mention that travelers into LaGuardia Airport also have 2 other cheaper options if they have some extra time & want a little local flavor. Take the M60 bus into upper Manhattan. You can even transfer to metro north at 125th street that will take you directly to Grand Central or into Westchester & Connecticut. Also the Q70 bus will take you to Woodside where you can catch the LIRR to long Island (or even Manhattan & the AirTran at Jamaica). It also goes to Jackson Heights where you can transfer into the subway to go to Manhattan, queens, etc.
Thumbs up button smashed! These are all very good tips for visiting New York. I'll be coming in mid June for my 7th trip. I also know that LaGuardia has a few buses that serve it that will also take you to the subway as well. The Q72, Q70, Q48, & M60 serve LaGuardia Airport as well as a couple of subway stations on the Flushing Line(7), Queens Blvd Line(EFM&R), & Astoria Line(N&W). $2.75 for a ride & you get a free transfer to the subway. Yes, the buses also accept OMNY.
Thanks. This kind of advice made me look like a genius to my family as well this past weekend. Made things stress-free and organized. I even helped a couple fellow tourists who looked lost…told them to become a member of the barrio…
Hello, just want to say a huge thank you, have just came back from NYC and your videos were so helpful. Especially about the airtrain and places to get food, I didn't go wrong once. I have sent your channel link to some friends who are going next year. I am from the UK so if you are ever in the north, do let me know x
I most appreciated learning about the black and white bar in the subway station. I did know about going to the conductor car but not how to find it. Thank you!
Quality video again Jon. Excellent tips and tricks for people. It appears these things can really make a difference. People can trust what you say to. Your right in England the Bodega store food offering does not exist. It’s definitely a New York thing. Nice work.
Visiting with my brother this september for his birthday and i have to say your videos are very helpful!… i been watchin your videos since 9pm lol its 12am now lol
Excellent-Excellent-Excellent tips Jon AND Members of the Barrio! Thank you. Jon…I wish you were on everyday but I’ll take your advice and watch those INSTA recommendations. 🙌🏻 🎉❤
Hi Jon, love your videos. Just returned from NYC for a week from the UK and the game changer for me was using a local eSIM to get mobile data without paying huge international roaming charges. Also meant I could use my US number to get a Revel account that wouldn't accept my UK number. Loved Adel's and Bleecker St Pizza both which I found from your vids.
Yes it is among the best water in the world. The reservoirs in the Catskills in particular are great because there a strict regulations on contamination in the Catskill park.
We took the Coach USA bus from Newark airport into Manhattan. $34 round trip on the app or $21 one way at the bus. Stops at Port Authority, Bryant Park and Grand Central. So convenient.
I suppose it depends on what exactly is meant by "Bodega". If it's a convenience store that sells a mix of food, groceries, cigs, lottery tickets etc. while also offering freshly prepared food from behind a counter, those definitely exist in the UK. In Northern Ireland there's a whole chain of them called "Centra".
Great content! We just got back from NYC a day ago. Visiting our son who moved their 2 years ago. Third time there and I have to say, too bad I didn’t catch your channel sooner. But, I probably wouldn’t have recognized how much I could learn from your channel, had I not seen where it made a few mistakes along the way. Nonetheless subscribed to your channel. Appreciate what you do! 🙏
I loved all the vids absolute quality of contents. Very helpful for traveling preparation and the guides and tips on the website are very informative! Regarding the water fountain, sure the water might clean, but what about the faucet itself ? germs and bacteria can grows there without propers anitization. i'd stick with the bottle water ( sure not the fiji ones )
We rode that that yellow elevator off the Highline a couple weeks ago. Made our way to Little Island where I'm convinced I found the windiest, most freezing part of New York that day.
Do hotels in New York store a luggage before check in? I assume they do but when I checked some hotels like the Plaza Hotel it recommends a different hotel or doesn’t offer luggage storage
Hello Ferry question: Can I bring food on the ferry? Was thinking of going to a food truck near Pier 11, hopping on the Soundview Ferry and making it into a "dinner cruise" ;o). Thank you for your helpful videos.
Not a cheat code, but don’t just be tied to the subway with public transit. For instance, if you have to go west to east, especially across Central Park? The bus is the way to go.
Hey,I love your videos and used alot for my solo trip last year. I am now planning on taking my partner and her 2 kids (11) next Xmas. I am just wondering if there are any good ideas to do with kids ,videos you or maybe others have done that are really helpful? Cheers and keep the content coming.
Not Jon but xmas in New York is super kid friendly with so much to see and do. I recommend going to Nintendo world(which you can also check out Rockefeller), Macy's on 34th street for the lights and walk down to bryant park where you can do a little ice skating or check out the winter village (not on a weekend though it is SUPER crowded especially saturday, aldo there are other holiday markets in Columbuscircle, union square and grand central) the bronx zoo has a night walk with lights too (a winter wonderland) and the new york botanical garden has a train show (also in the bronx rigt near the zoo) there are light fesitvals too usually on staten island or queens, try a carriage ride through central park (especially if its snowing) if skating is to tight at bryant park you can go to the wollman rink in central park (there is another called Lasker but it's being renovated.) Go to an outdoor restaurant area that has heaters by the water or check out the little cabin style igloos near south street seaport or go to dyker heights. That's just a couple of things
@clarissa krigger Thank you so much.i am actually surprised how cheap xmas is. Do you know if much open over the Xmas period such as esb,Edge, things like that?
The unlimited 7 day metro card is obviously only for one person. Going through the gates then handing the card back for someone else to use dodging fares will get you's a fine or arrested!
Related to restaurant reservations, if you drop in on a restaurant without a reservation, and they tell you they're full, ask if you could eat at the bar. Never had a bad time doing that.
Is there an app that you know of for NYC taxis or can you just grab one easily at LGA? Great video with some helpful tips, looking forward to my trip next month!!
Another great video. The flat fare info is not accurate. It *starts* at $70+tips but then: Plus 50 cents MTA State Surcharge. Plus $1.00 Improvement Surcharge. $5.00 rush hour surcharge (4pm to 8pm weekdays, excluding legal holidays). Plus New York State Congestion Surcharge of $2.50 (Yellow Taxi) or $2.75 (Green Taxi and FHV) or 75 cents (any shared ride) for all trips that begin, end or pass through Manhattan south of 96th Street. Plus any tolls.
Hi Jon, I've been watching your videos for a while, and they are very helpful! My soon to be wife and I will be travelling to NY in August for our honeymoon. I was wondering how "cashless" New York is as I keep reading mixed reviews. Is there any chance of some info? Thanks, Stephen
Its already to advanced to me. I can't uber and door dash the second off JFK. Like yeah its confusing and consuming but like nothing about NY is simple. Although sometimes I dont know, like sometimes places that should be busy isn't so idk. But really he really gets it. Like NYC is like one big sports stadium.
Is it trhe when you are ging to a foodtruck you take a water and you are no ask for the price and give himl 1 dolar for the bottle hi Dozenten can make any recharg for the water
No it doesn't 🤦🏾♂️ I've been to the Netherlands twice and the tap water is no better or worse than my home country and some other countries I've visited. Iceland tap water is natural spring water without any chemicals used to clean it. And without any fluoride etc added!

Great vid as always Jon. As one of the 10% in the U.K., absolutely would come out to the pub to see you. You’d love London
I live across the river and ever since I started watching Sarah and Barr I have experienced nyc in a much better light 👍🏼
I most appreciated learning about the black and white bar in the subway station. I did know about going to the conductor car but not how to find it. Thank you!

Great stuff. The more you know the better your trip will be.
We took the Coach USA bus from Newark airport into Manhattan. $34 round trip on the app or $21 one way at the bus. Stops at Port Authority, Bryant Park and Grand Central. So convenient.
When I rode the subway in my city, I would always try to get the spot nearest the exit I was taking. Cool that there's an app for that in NYC.
I feel so honored to be featured in your video!! ❤. Also yes I am very type A because I am a doctor 😂
Great video, as always. We go to NY in two weeks and wonder what internet we can use for these few days? maybe would you make a video about it?
Take the train/bus from the airport and when you get to Grand Central - go to Shake Shack
Yooo thanks for mention brotha! Great video 📷
Any time!
Great video Jon! Come to the UK! Would love to have a beer with you at a proper British pub! 🍻

Hello Ferry question: Can I bring food on the ferry? Was thinking of going to a food truck near Pier 11, hopping on the Soundview Ferry and making it into a "dinner cruise" ;o). Thank you for your helpful videos.
Good morning. I've had the opportunity to try Magnolia Bakery (Hudson Yards) Banana pudding. I must say it was disappointing 😕
If you ever come to New Zealand, I'll happily meet you in a pub and show you around our capital city 😀
Come to the UK and do an American eye view on places in the UK! 😜
Our tap water is the main reason no other city can copy our pizza, or our bagels. It's absolutely the best in the world.
This would make for a GREAT Video Game…
if you came to the uk i'd definitely buy you a beer
ur awesome shouting out the instagram accounts. most people wouldn’t do that kinda stuff
Great vid ! 🔥
@herebebarr did you take down the coupon for Revel?
Jon. I would sure as anything meet you in England
But how do we place our order in advance? Thru an app or is there a specific way for each eatery?
Amazon, so true!
How is Ben? Would appreciate an update. Thanks 🙏🙏
see his gofundme link in description for the latest news we have.
Central Park lamp posts should be a topic
Not a cheat code, but don’t just be tied to the subway with public transit. For instance, if you have to go west to east, especially across Central Park? The bus is the way to go.
Zebra ...$4 great 👍😊🇹🇹🇹🇹
Can you do a guide to great Bodega's?

great ideas. Stuff for kids is tough for me, I have a 6 month old. I'm going to get to this eventually on the channel.
Thank you so much

We are coming to NY in a week from the UK.

Yes you're right!
You REALLY need to come to Houston. Best Mexican and international food city in the USA . Also excellent value for money
Hi Jon,
I've been watching your videos for a while, and they are very helpful! My soon to be wife and I will be travelling to NY in August for our honeymoon. I was wondering how "cashless" New York is as I keep reading mixed reviews. Is there any chance of some info?
Thanks,
Stephen
Quite cashless. A few food spots are cash only, but 95% or more you can pay card. Bring some but not a mountain of it.
I lost my card at a club and didn't get a new physical one for months because it was so unnecessary to carry cash.
How have you not done a video on the rat and cockroach situation yet? Or have i missed it I heard its bad over there.

As someone living in Scotland I will contest that NYC does NOT have the best water in the world. We do.
Can someone tell me if 4 of us go to the subway can one person pay for all 4? Like tapping the phone 4 times? Is there some restrictions to that?
4 taps is fine
I'd buy you a pint, mate
I use Too Good To Go in England.
Before the pandemic, there was this one permanent news stand near Macy's that had water for $1. Not sure if he's still there.
If you are ever in Scotland 🏴 UK let me know. I will take you out 🍺 🥃 🍔 🍕
I use the Metro or just walk. No taxi no Uber etc. necessary
I’m from England John I’d 100% take you for a beer 🍺
Is it trhe when you are ging to a foodtruck you take a water and you are no ask for the price and give himl 1 dolar for the bottle hi Dozenten can make any recharg for the water
Netherlands has the best drinking water in the World. Look it up
No it doesn't 🤦🏾♂️ I've been to the Netherlands twice and the tap water is no better or worse than my home country and some other countries I've visited.
Iceland tap water is natural spring water without any chemicals used to clean it. And without any fluoride etc added!
Why are taxis lined up with no customers waiting as depicted in the video if they are cheaper than Uber?
