I don’t have to send a birthday card until February 2nd. But on February 27 I send a card to my sister in law. Hers has to be very special because she is the person who got me interested in cardmaking. In January I start making birthday cards for the year. I put each card in its envelope, address the envelope (leaving the envelope unsealed), and pencil the mailing date in the upper right corner where it will be covered later by the postage stamp. When it’s time to mail the card I can write a timely note, add the postage stamp and mail it. I have an Excel spreadsheet listing all the cards I need to send in a year. When I send each card I mark it off my list.

The first birthday in 2021 would have been January 1st, but the man I would have written to, a very dear friend, died last year on Christmas Day after long suffering. I still have his birthday in my calendar and refuse to delete it. I think I will instead write to his wife and celebrate the life and love he left behind. Ich vermisse Dich, Torsten.

Hubby’s grandpa turns 91 on the 5th January 2021, and that’s the first birthday on my card calendar!
I make birthday cards for all of the members of our Church, because we have a lot of disabled, chronically ill, elderly, or otherwise struggling people - and I think a birthday card is a nice way to let them know they are seen and loved. ❤️
(I make a lot of “just because” and encouragement cards for the same reason!)

I loved your card ideas, simple but stunning looking, but I think that I will have a practice before trying to make some cards as I have learnt that watching someone who is an expert like you, I need to understand that you have already learnt and forgotten more than I could imagine! I used some of your card ideas to create cards with one of my grandsons. His favorite way to create the background was with Distress Oxide spray. He made 2 cards, one each for his uncle and aunt with birthdays January 1st and 5th. Thank you again for the video.

Loved this collab! You all did an amazing job at creating great cards and giving practical advice. My New Year’s resolution is just that! Create many Birthday cards and never be stuck without one at the last minute. I’m also going to make a few for my daughter who is visiting us from overseas, where she’s studying, and has made so many new friends...she’ll be needing quite a few! The first birthday of the new year will be for my niece Giulia on January 8th...a sweet 16! Thank you so much for sharing these ideas! My first birthday of the year is January 23 followed by 8 family members in the first week of February. Ugh. I'm always behind the eight ball. I have such high hopes and then before you know it my husband starts off the February birthdays on the first and then they pile on until Feb 15. Then I get a brief respite until the end of March, first of April. Then I'm good until July. It is always the barrage in the first week of Feb that drowns me. What a great idea to have a bank of cards at the ready.

My Great Grandson's birthday is Jan 17th followed by 2 friends and a cousin that I send January BD cards to....I've gifted several card sets to friends and relatives and it is so funny....they don't want to use them! I have reassured them that when they need more I will happily make them more...because that will be the perfect excuse for spending extra time in my craft room. These are great! My first birthday card has to go out February 3 to my wonderful mother in law. She loves getting cards in the mail. Even though we talk on the phone weekly, her and I still send each other hand written letters! Sometimes just cute little notes, sometimes a recipe we found in a magazine or from the newspaper. I have to send out my first birthday card for January 6, 2021. I watched all 4 birthday bank videos and realized that I am great at making cards but lousy at sending them out. I sat right down and proceeded to work on making some cards. I just finished putting the finishing touches on 35 birthday cards. Now for the addressing, stamping, and organizing so I know when to send them out. Thanks for the video.
